This is an original engraved antique 1867 physical map of the World showing the Chart of the Ocean Currents No. 05 published by Mitchell drawned and engraved by J.M. Atwood. Philadelphia. It was removed from the geography book being very careful to cause little damage. It was difficult due to the very poor condition of the book when found recently.It has two colors added to the engraving Purple and yellow. Very striking and not too much. Across the top is the lines of Longitude. Is also contains lines air flow threwout the world.It measures 12 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches overall and the black line image measures8 1/4 by 11 inches. It has the original binding holes, it has not been trimed and has a few 1/4. Search This is a vintage map. This item is 8 1/2 x 15 inches and needs repair. This item is marked The World from the best authorities at the top. And also Published by Thomas& Andrews. At the bottom is marked Engraved for Morses Geography by A Doolittle N Haven. I do not know the exact date of this item but I think there were two different books with this map in it, one from 1796 and one from a few years earlier. Map needs to be laid out flat and flattened to get the wrinkles out and also has some tears that should be repaired. Hard to find map. Please ask questions-if you have any-before you bid. Most of my items are used and show some wear. What may seem unimportant to me may be very important to you so please look at the pictures carefully.
