Mead& Co. in 1892-it is not a later copy or reprint of any kind. This is a tipped in map with three folds as issued. The open size is 18 1/4" x 9 3/4" It is in very good condition with age toning-there is a very small stain just under the Western Hemisphere that looks to me like it might be a printing"blurb" There is also a very light indention about 2 inches on each side of the center fold that goes all the way down that is from the printing process-hardly noticeable. This an original antique folding map engraved by J& C Walker is from"Harrow Atlas of Modern Geography" under the supervision of The Society for The Diffusion of Useful Knowledge and is published by Edward Stanford. London, 1862. The map shows excellent detail. The map measures 44 cm x 36 cm, 17 inches x 14 inches. This map is in good condition except for a small split in the fold with no loss. The map was printed before colour printing had yet to be perfected so the original colouring is done by hand. The map is printed on one side only and is perfect for framing. If you are unhappy with the item once you receive it, you can return it for a refund. The map will be sent in a postal tube which is the best way to send it.

Size: The map image measures approximately 5 by 6 inches(12x15cm) on a 6 by 7 1/4" 15x18cm) page with a margin all around for framing as seen in the pic. Condition: The map is in Very Good condition for its age with overall tonal aging and original hand coloring as issued. Overall. It is very clean with only a couple of spots in the margin, see the pic for more on condition. It is printed on heavy paper with a rich antique appearance that would frame up nicely. Arrowsmith, Hydographer to the Prince Regent, printed at bottom is Engraved by Sidney Hall, No 14 Bury Street, Bloomsbury, Edinburgh, Published by Archibald Constable& C. 1817. I like how the year produced is right in the title, it dates the map nicely, esp. if framed or displayed. Arrowsmith was a very highly regarded and important mapmaker and cartographer of this period. Very finely engraved, printed on thick paper, no printing on reverse. Many fascianting areas, much has changed, for instance, Australia is New Holland, United States is only at right hand side, and so forth. Many other fascianting detailed areas.
