This is a solid cast brass keyhole escutcheon. Measuring 2 1/4" x 1 1/8" with a raised edge of 1/4" The keyhole opening is 3/4" The back is stamped ITALY BAL 74x30. I'm not sure of its age, but it is at least 20 years old, as I have had it in storage that long. There are no chips or cracks. They have a medium dark, almost pebbly finish, and are stamped on the back- N6641 N6642 700 KBC. I believe these date about 1940. They have a hole at the top to screw in from the front, and a threaded 1/8" post on the back. The keyhole itself is 1/2" tall. VINTAGE REPOUSSE BRASS ESCUTCHEONS. UNUSED FOR WOOD CASKET, JEWELRY BOX. Vintage repousse metal(looks like brass) keyhole escutcheons. Unused, for wood casket, trinket, jewelry box. More vintage hardware is listed at my auctions or store. 8- 2 1/8" long x almost 1" height. Very good unused condition. Two sets wrapped in cord measure 1 7/8" long x 1 3/16" height. After taking photos. I untied these two sets. The set without the oxidation at the top contains 36 with only the outside one with a tarnished spot. The others in this set are like new. The one set that has oxidation at the top contains 36. They all have oxidation in the same place as the outside one in the photo, but still look unused. I took one(not included in the count) and used BarKeepers Friend to remove some of the tarnish. The tarnish did not come off completely, ... morebut where it does it looks nice. You may have a cleaning product you like better to remove the oxidation/tarnish. All measurements are approximate. Very good condition. No cracks or chips. Lot of 5 Antique / Vintage English Brass 2PC Covered Escutcheons Keyhole England
This is a Lot of Five Antique/ Vintage Covered Escutcheons. The escutcheons appear to be solid brass. Polished on the front and unpolished on the back, and we will guarantee your satisfaction that they are brass. In addition to the five two-piece sets. There is one extra cover included as seen. We purchased the escutcheons in England and we believe that is most likely where they were made. We do not know specifically when they were made. Each escutcheon has two pieced: The backplate with keyhole and three mounting holes. And a cover with semi-spherical profile that hides the keyhole. It has a single hole at the top for mounting along with the top screw on the backplate, and can then be rotated to either side to access the key hole. The overall height on the centerline of the base plate and cover are each 11/16" and the overall maximum ... morewidth is about 1" The vertical centerline distance between the top hole and the horizontal centerline of the two lower holes is about 7/8" and the two horizontal holes are on about 5/8" centers. Most of the backplates have a maker's mark of shield or chevron with an inscribed S. Four of the backplates have this stamp on the back and for some reason. One has it on the front. Condition As found. The pieces have an uneven patina as seen. It looks like they may have had a coat of lacquer to inhibit tarnish, and if so, that coat has failed. If that is the case, the lacquer can easily be removed with lacquer thinner, gloves, and a brush outside or with adequate outside ventilation. After that, or if there is no lacquer, the escutcheons should polish up nicely. The escutcheons are otherwise in excellent condition. Please visit our ebay store to view a wide variety of antique. These are 3 beautifully matched 6 1/4" x 1 7/8' deco bright brass escutcheons. from early- mid 2oth century. They are set to accept a doorknob and key. Even though they have been used as display samples. And have been kept in loose storage they are in great shape. Matching screws can be obtained from any decent hardware store.

2 Pair of Unique VIntage Brass Doorknob / Keyhole Escutcheons: New Old Stock
We are a 141 year old family run hardware store and recently have been examining stock we haven't looked in several decades. Which is how we came upon this set. They were only used as display samples, and since they were in loose stock have developed a slight patina, adding to the value, although the brightness is still there. They measure approx. 4 1/2" in length and are approx. 1 3/4" at the widest point. Each only requires a single screw.

These plain black straightforward heavy(shown by shipping cost! steel doorknob/ keyhole escutcheons are not that easy to find these days. They are from stock we have not examined in several decades. Dating back to the early- mid 20th century. They have been in loose storage, and show some signs of it, e.g. slight scratches, and a need for a good cleaning. Each is 7 1/2" x 2 3/8" and requires 4 screws, easily obtainable in any decent hardware store. These 5 are the only ones we have been able to find in this size.
