Vintage Enamelware Chamber Pot and Lid Black and White
The best I can tell. And remember from what my grandparents told me, this is a chamber pot. It appears to be enamelware. It is white with black trim. The pot is approx 9" deep and the opening is approx 8 1/2" but the pot flares out more than that. The lid is 10 1/2" in diameter. There are chips, look at the pictures for those. This is a vintage porcelain enamelware white chamber pot or pail. Dome shaped black trim lid with swing bale wire and nicely turned wooden handle. It is a heavy duty piece. Measures approx. 10"high to rim has a width of approx. 10” at the rim and the circumference around the rim measures approximately 32 ½” This urn shaped pail is large and the pot and lid together weigh around 4 ½ pounds. There are a couple small chips around the lid rim. Three uniform marks on the bottom(possibly from the manufacturing process) and there is a manufacturer’s flaw of a paint drip as seen on the photo with the scale. Other than that. This is an antique/vintage porcelain enamelware chamber pot(or"thunder bucket" as they called them up north) With subtly ribbed sides, a wire bail handle with a wooden grip, a lid, and trimmed overall in red enamel on the handle"ears" the lid handle, and the lid and base rims. It's a beauty.if such things can be called beautiful. It was certainly necessary and practical in its day. A nice piece of nostalgia, that makes you glad to live in modern times! Unsure of maker. From the early 1930s. Has some chips; a large one on the lid. And minor ones around the rim. Minor chips around the rim of the base, as well as several larger ones. It has a very cute bear decal on one side. I have owned this piece for at least 25 years. I don't see any chips. However there are a few places under the rim where the enamel is thinner then the rest(occurred durint the manufacturing process) There are some barely visible scuff marks as is common with enamelware. Vntg Enamelware Chamber "Potty"—White w/Red Rim+Bakelite? Handle+Lid+OrigLabel
Use this as a decorator piece in your modern bathroom! Before indoor bathrooms were popular. These chamber pots were used in every bedroom/household. People used these pots so that they wouldn't have to make a trip out to the outhouse in the cold, dark night. In the morning these full pots were carried out and dumped in the outhouse. Judging by the size. This one was probably used by youngsters between the ages of 5–12. This one is unique because it has a lid and the original manufacturer's label on the side. It reads. Columbian, Serving the Home Since 1871; Porcelain Enameled Steel; Made in U.S.A. by Columbian, Terre Haute, Indiana; General Steel Wares Limited; GSN logo) Exclusive Canadian Distributors. The pot has a red rim and the lid has a black rim but they fit perfectly together. The handle is a slightly rusted metal with a ... moregray Bakelite( grasping handle. I don't think plastic, as we know it today, was widely used during this time period but I understand that Bakelite was used, however, I can't guarantee this. There is also a ripped price tag on the side of the pot which I cannot read. SIZES: Pot only—7 1/2" tall x 9 3/4" diameter top. Total height with handle straight up is 13" Lid—10 1/8" diameter x 2" height CONDITION: There are several dents. Chips and scratches on the lid and pot. There are also several rust spots on the pot which someone tried to cover with a clear varnish or acrylic to stop the erosion, I suppose. The repair work is difficult to see in the photos. This is a quite large old fashioned white enamelware chamber pot. This pot has an extending metal handle with a wood grip. The pot measures about 11" tall to the top of the lid and the handle extends up about 5" The pot is about 8.5" wide. This pot shows some age and has bits of rust on the interior bottom and around the edge of the lid but very little. I see no chips or flakes. This pot can be very useful for whatever task you assign it to or would just serve well as a display piece.

This is a small 3 1/4" tall by 6" long including front rim to back of handle by 5 3/4" diameter outside rim to outside rim. Child size enamelware chamber pot. It is enameled metal and some in white with a blue rim and handle. This was obviously made as a chamber pot, versus a decorative reproduction, because of the nice wide tapered in rim. It is all original and in very good to excellent used condition. There are some spots of enamel missing as one usually wants to see on these old pieces. Chamber pot w lid wood handle VG pail bucket antique white/ black enamelware
Pot itself without the lid measures 8 5/8" H x 10" W at the top and is in VG condition with no chips in the enamel. The lid has some minor flaking on the inside out of sight(see last pic) and fits the pail on the inside rim with a nice overhang.
