Very nice chamber pot made iin 1906 by John Maddox& Sons Staffordshire Potteries England A chamber pot is a bowl-shaped container with a handle. And often a lid, kept in the bedroom under a bed or in the cabinet of a nightstand and generally used as a toilet at night. My great grandmother made us use these when i was a very young child in her southern antebellum home. I found this one at an estate and am weeding out some of my collection. VTG Blue & White Maddock & Sons Ironstone Chamber Pot Lid Staffordshire England
For your consideration today is a wonderful blue and white ironstone pottery chamber pot with lid. This pot was produced by the John Maddock& Sons Potteries. Staffordshire England. It is true vintage and in excellent condition overall with no chips or cracks- there is fine crazing all over but the shiny glaze on the pot and lid is still very nice. This chamber pot retains its original lid. The lid and single pot handle are enhanced by a leaf and vine motif molded into the pot. The blue bands on the lid and pot are surrounded by a fine line of goldtone highlights. This pot is approx 8 inches tall at the top of the lid knob. Diameter of the pot is approx 8 inches, 10 inches across at the single handle. Very attractive and collectible, this would be a fine addition to your blue and white or ironstone collection. Crown Devon Floral Pattern Chamber Pot Made in Staffordshire. England For your consideration is a Crown Devon Floral Pattern Chamber Pot S. Fielding& Co. Ltd. Made in Staffordshire. England Potters for over 100 years. It features decorations of pink floral design. It measures 5 1/4 inches in height, 9 3/8 inches in diameter. Weight is 3 pounds, 4.5 ounces. There is some gold wear. Chamber pots were used in ancient Greece at least since the 6th century BC. The introduction of indoor toilets started to displace chamber pots in the 19th century but such pots were in common use until the mid-20th century. Today it can be used as bathroom/bedroom decor or to hold flowers or a plant.

Amazing! Seems to be quite rare. I can't find another one lny this maker in this pattern listed anywhere. The bowl is 9" x 5" Surprisingly free of crazing. Chips or cracks on the outside. I looked to my best ability and didn't find any flaws other than a few minor scuffs on the outside. Some minor wear to the decorative trim in the rim. There is some crazing to the bottom of the inside. Please examine all photos.
