This is a vintage porcelain enamelware white chamber pot or pail. Dome shaped black trim lid with swing bale wire and nicely turned wooden handle. It is a heavy duty piece. Measures approx. 10"high to rim has a width of approx. 10” at the rim and the circumference around the rim measures approximately 32 ½” This urn shaped pail is large and the pot and lid together weigh around 4 ½ pounds. There are a couple small chips around the lid rim. Three uniform marks on the bottom(possibly from the manufacturing process) and there is a manufacturer’s flaw of a paint drip as seen on the photo with the scale. Other than that. Primitive Porcelain hospital bed pan & enamel enema pot
This is an estate find. Primitive bed pan and enema pot. The enema pot is made of enamel. It has some of the enamel chipped off and it dented at the top. It is 7" tall and 5" wide. It still has the hose connected to it. It has a hole at the back for hanging. It can be used for a flower pot. The enema pot and bed pan are the oldest ones I have ever seen. The bedpan is porcelain, the same thing commodes are made of. It has a plaque at the top that has a medical emblem and RN on it. There are some decals, but they are very worn. It has old dried flowers in it. It is 15 1/2" long and 10" wide and 5" deep at the big end. There are no chips, but there is a tight crack on the back side. Shown in the pictures. This diaper pail or chamber pot is white with red trim. Its wooden handle is still bright! It has a few chips in the enamel- 2 on the outside of the lid. And two on the inside. There are several along the underside of the rim, or did the porcelain just adhere poorly? Two more chips on the exterior bottom. This was sitting in a furnace room for decades& it was covered with soot! It didn't wash out with bleach or trisodium phosphate, so it's got a dingy gray cast to it. Prim Fluted Porcelain Enamel Antique Old Cache Pot Bucket Wire Bale Lid
This is an early antique white porcelain enamel cache pot with fluted sides. A wire bale with a red painted wooden handle and matching red rimmed lid. It has a worn. Shabby, chippy patina with some rust spots, scuffs to the enamel and some smudge marks that show its age(this is not a cheap, lightweight reproduction piece- this is an antique pot) Dimensions are as follows: it is 13.5” in height when the wire bale handle is held upright, the diameter of the pot itself is 7.5” from loop bail to loop bail it is 9”across, the height of the pot itself is 7.5” and the overall height with the lid on is 9.5” to the top of the lid’s looped handle. This primitive lidded chamber pot is rarely seen with these unusual fluted sides(vs. the more common round sides) and the lid is original to this pot, they are a hard to find matched set. The wire bale is ... morevery sturdy and the loop sides where the bail attaches to the pot are tight and secure, no repairs or rewelds. The pot and lid both have red rims and while the wooden handle was red at one time, now the paint has nearly worn completely away. The lid also has some yellowing to the white enamel as I show. This would be fabulous as a display piece in a primitive grouping, or used as a pot for a fern or other plant- there are no leaks or cracks in the porcelain, it is completely solid with only surface rusting and pitting.
