IT IS IN VERY NICE SHAPE AND THE COLORS ARE EXTREMELY BRIGHT AND THE GLAZE IS SHINY. THE POT IS 8 7/8 INCHES IN DIAMETER FROM THE OUTSIDE EDGES OF THE TOP LIP AND 5 1/8 INCHES TALL. Royal Ironstone China Alfred Meakin Ltd Chamber Pot W/Lid-England-Late 1800's
These chamber pots are very collectible and rare. Especially with the lid. This one also has a crocheted lid cover. There is a chip on the lid(mostly on the underside) and a few small cracks on the lid. The pot has no chips, cracks, damage, or repairs. The pot is 5" high and with lid approx 7 1/2" high. The bowl part is approx 8 5/8" across and from the handle across is approx 11" I really like this piece but we will be moving in 3 years and we are downsizing. This is a very heavy piece.

This is a wonderful antique chamber pot in great condition. It is white with blue pin-stripping and the lid has a decorative handle with embossed design. The bowl and lid are in great condition for an antique piece with no chips. There is some minor scratches and wear but they do not detract for the value of the pot. This is a listing for an Alfred Meakin Royal Ironstone chamber pot with its lid. It dates from 1881-97. Based on the pottery mark. The handle of the lid is a flower and leaf design. This design repeats on the handle of the pot. The pot and its lid are in excellent condition with just a few issues. There is a crack starting at the top part of the handle where it attaches to the pot. There is a spot on the handle of the lid where the glaze is missing. I believe it chipped off likely because of an air bubble underneath it. There is one small glaze pit on the rim of the lid. The outside of the pot has a small amount of scuffing. The interior has some minor scratching and wear to the glaze on the bottom of the pot. Please study the pictures for details. But that was before another ALFRED MEAKIN collector on eBay called my attention ... moreto the fact that this is in a CHILD'S CHAMBER POT. If this was a regular cup, the rim should be straight up and not flared out as shown in the pictures below. It does kind of make sense. As a child's chamber pot. I would assume that this piece would date back to the Victorian times(1837- 1901) However, the fact that the back stamp says PERMANENT COLOURS- I found out would date this piece to the 1970's. So, the big question is are people really using chamber pots for children in the 1970's. Well. I am no ALFRED MEAKIN expert- just giving you what I have researched so far. This child's chamber pot measures approximately 6" across the top and 3 1/2" high. On the bottom. It says, Charlotte, Alfred Meakin, Staffordshire, England, Permanent Colours" and there is the word"England" impressed. I think that this piece is about 100 years old. Very collectible. Given its age. The condition is near mint. I could not find any chips, but there is a line about 1/2" inside the pot that looks like a flaw in the finish, or maybe crazing in that spot. On sale is a really nice antique chamber pot made by J&G Meakin. Hanley England. This white ironstone and nicely decorated piece dates from the early 1900's and is in excellent condtion. Decorated in the Pagoda pattern. Nice blue oriental shrines with tree branches and gold accents. There is some wear to the applied gold lines along the outer top edges and to the cover's handle and chamber pot handle areas. No cracks, but there are some small, scattered glaze chips-roughness, bubble bursts along the bottom base edge. All are minor and can barely be seen while sitting on a flat surface. Offered is a beautiful White Ironstone Chamber Pot with lid in the Kansas Shape. This shape features vertical convex ribs with embossed large leaves around the handle and on the lid. As well as a large nut finial. This piece was produced by J&G Meakin in Hanley, England circa the mid to late 1800's, and retains their impressed mark indicating J&G Meakin- Pearlware. Bowl measures 8 1/2 inches in diameter and 5 1/4 inches tall Handle extends out another 2 inches and is approx. 4 inches tall Marked ROYAL IRONSTONE CHINA with the stamp of the lion. Crown and unicorn, with CHARLES MEAKIN ENGLAND under it. This printed mark was used on the earliest pottery made at the Burslem Works location. From 1870 to 1882. There are a few expected minor anomalies inherent with hand-made pottery. The inside is quite clean. Close inspection reveals very minor scratches on the bottom from use over 130 years ago. The glazing on the exterior is very nice There are no chips on the top edge. As shown in the photos. There is a very small crack at the top right side of the handle that appears to have been glued, possibly prior to glazing. This ... moreis not very obvious to the eye when on display, and in my opinion it is a minor visual issue. I have tried to be as complete as possible in my description. Vintage Charles Meakin 1800's Chamber Pot
no chips or cracks. I did clean quite a bit of stain from the inside. I am sure with some elbow grease. Lol, it will all come clean. From the same estate that held all the lamps I am selling. Backstamp I believe is from the late 1800's. mouth is 8 1/4" and stands 5" tall. Payment is by pay-pal. But I do have a local pick up, or arrange to get your item. Antique Victorian Alfred Meakin England Royal Ironstone China Chamber Pot
This very nice Victorian chamber pot is an English classic as it was part of every home in England during the Victorian period and until modern sewage systems introduced the flush toiled around 1900. This pot may also have been brought to the US during this same period and used as well. It is made from Ironstone with a fine high gloss finish and has a beautiful transparency to it(pictured#1. 2, 4) The under glaze is white and the over glaze is very thick making it transparent looking. It has some vertical lines around it giving it style and a broad serif handle(pictured# 3) It has a raised, curled rim around the top as these pots were used to catch poddie and were usually kept in a wooden commode uncovered. Covered commodes were often much more ornate and sometimes painted with colored glazes and floral patterns these were kept outside of ... morea commode most often in the bedroom near wash stands. Today commodes like this one are used for floor ornaments. Bed/bathroom décor, indoor& outdoor planters or just for fun. It measures 5 1/4" tall X 8 1/2" in diameter around the top and 4" deep. An nice old Chamber pot or Thunder jug by Alfred Meakin. Ltd. of England. 8 3/4" across the lid. Rim of pot is 8 1/8" Total height to lid knob is 7" One chip on the inner side of the lid's rim. Doesn't shwo at all as on the inner surface mostly and the flat area of the lid to the edge is pretty wide anyway. Insure of it's age but in research I found this info: Alfred Meakin(Ltd) Alfred Meakin(Tunstall) Ltd: 1875- Alfred Meakin(Ltd. Royal Albert, Victoria and Highgate Potteries, Tunstall. From c.1913 renamed"Alfred Meakin(Tunstall) Ltd Note the addition of"England" from 1891. Note the addition of"Ltd. It was made in England by Alfred Meakin as part of the Royal Ironstone Pottery line. It measures 7-1/4" tall including the lid and 10-1/2" across including the handle. It is 9-1/2" in diameter, not including the handle. It is in excellent antique condition, no cracks, chips or repairs. This is a wonderful antique ironstone chamber pot by the J& G Meakin Co. Great acorn finial on lid. In wonderful vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or hairlines. Even handle is mint. There are a few very small spots that can be seen in photos. And a little discoloration also as shown. So often these come broken. So this is in remarkable condition. Found in a North Shore estate sale, in the attic of a wonderful antique house. Bottom is about 4 5/8" tall. 8 5/8" wide without handle and 10" including handle. About 7 5/8" tall with lid on. Here is a nice vintage handled chamber pot by Alfred Meakin. England. It is quite unusual to find a chamber pot in such good condition, but this one is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. It is also very solid and heavy. There are some signs that attest to its age, such as some discoloring near the base, a few pock marks on the inside and some slight marks on the ornamental pull. It measures approximately 8 1/2" tall(to the top of the pull) and is about 10 1/2" wide(from the handle to the end of the pot) It would look very nice in any bathroom.especially a vintage bathroom. The pot has Meakin's Royal Ironstone ... moreChina lion and unicorn mark on its bottom dating it as having probably been made between about 1897 and 1914. It likely was once one piece of a complete chamber set that would have included washbowl with matching pitcher. Hot water jug, and possibly a toothbrush holder. The pot also would have had a lid originally, but alas, that has been lost to the ages. We have looked this item over carefully and found it to be in good antique and used condition. It's damage free having no chips. Cracks, or repairs. We found no crazing of glaze. You will note that the interior surface suffers some stain, discoloration, and residue that's probably commensurate with age and typical use. There are a few scratches and scuffs of the glaze on the exterior surface where the pot has been banged about a bit, but none that would be considered objectionable or offensive. The glaze is well applied, but does exhibit a few of the typical pops and inclusions common to such pottery as this. Taken altogether it's a good looking piece of antique ironstone utility ware that shows well. It has great potential as a planter or simply as a decorative accessory in the right room.
