Antique Vintage White HUGE Gold Trim Semi Vitreous Chamber Pot Water Cooking
Up for sale is an Antique White Ironstone HUGE Chamber Pot or Cooking Pot. I'm not quite sure what the general use of this was. It could have been used as a chamber pot purpose, cooking or even just to hold water. It is enormous, the largest of its kind I have ever seen. It also comes with the rare lid! It is approx. 12 in tall by 13 in wide with the handles. It is marked with a stamp and Semi Vitreous on the bottom. But I cannot make out the maker. It is in fair to good condition. Considering its age. There is a large crack with some webbing of the cracks on the inside bottom. There is also another 3.5 in crack on the one side. There is medium overall crazing present, and some slight marks here and there. Some of the gold stripes are worn. What a great example of an antique ironstone pot! This is a VERY high quality antique late 1700's to early 1800's MELLOR ETRURIA Chamber Pot commode with Lid and inset dish. It is obvious this was created for the very wealthy as it is hand painted in hues of soft teal blue floral pattern and trimmed in gold gilding gilt. Up for auction is a great piece of American history. This Chamber pot was made in the early 1900's and is unmarked on bottom but authentic. The floral designs on front are totaly intact and not faded. The back looks partially removed but hard to tell. Colors are green. Blue, dark orange, and white. Lots of the gold edging is still there with a few worn areas. This large pot measures 9.5" center diameter and 6" in height. The total with handle is 11.5" I have felt around the whole piece and feel nothing but some manufacturing pits. There is some surface crazing which I have taken pictures of. This is a chamber pot made by Doulton Burslem. It is 9 3/4" in diameter. 11" long including the handle, and 5 3/4" tall. It is hand painted with colorful leaves, flowers, and gold trim. The outside surface has a texture and a pattern; I think this is called"tapestry" The bottom has a green mark that was used from 1885-1902. It is also marked in black: U.S. PATENT 342,002" the first 3 digits are hard to read, so I'm not sure that's the right number) It is also marked in red: B128 8" It has an impressed mark: DOULTON& SLATER'S PATENT" and an"X" scratched in the clay. There are no chips or cracks. The gold trim has minor wear. There are some stains(pinkish color) in the interior at the top.
