Antique Furnival's Slop Jar/ Pot Androcles and the Lion 1890's RARE
For your consideration are two antique. Matched pieces to a chamber set from Furnival's England. There is a chamber pot with lid. And the large"slop bucket" These pieces are almost impossible to find. I even had trouble researching them. They were made in the 1890's to the best of my knowledge. The chamber pot has the no. 3669/ IN inscribed in red on the bottom. The slop bucket had a red stamp, which has faded with time. The colors are orange. Tan, brown, and turquoise. They are lusterware, and are also glazed on the inside. The inner rim to the cover of the chamber pot has a small chip. The slop bucket has a hairline crack about 4 inches. And is missing about a 1/2" paint on the outside in this area. You cannot see the chip with the cover on. And the slop bucket has the hairline at the top, and still holds liquids. ... moreThe orange is a brilliant color and the dynamics of Androcles on his horse about to kill the lion is quiet beautifully done. These are very large pieces. The slop bucket measures 1 foot across from handle to handle and is 9 3/4" high. The chamber pot is 10 1/2" across from handle to handle. And is 5" high. There appears to have been an attempt to repair/ seal it. But it still leaks water. In addition, there is a uniform pattern of crazing all over the bottom inside and out. Otherwise, there is light wear of the decoration and some manufacturing defects as normally found on china of this age. Furnival's Daffodil Chamber Pot Transferware Handle #248764 Circa 1895 Very Nice
Lovely Furnival's transfer ware chamber pot with daffodils and flowers. In excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The transfer looks very nice with no skips or misses that I can see. The nice point about this chamber pot is that there are splashes of color in the flowers- the large daffodil has some blue and yellow. The same goes for the back- please look closely at all nine photos. Gold speckling on rim and handle. Gold trim on bottom rim which has some minor wear in spots. Registration number 248764 which to the best of my knowledge is the date for 1895. The transfer carries over into the interior for 1.5" Curved handle has gold speckles with more transfer. This auction is for a Victorian ironstone chamber pot made by Furnival's of England in the last part of the 19th century. There is general wear and definite signs of long use. But the chamber pot is in very good condition. No chips or cracks. There is just a line or two of crazing on the base. The base rim shows serious wear. The photos show the white looking dirty or dull, because of the crummy camera I am using. The ironstone is very white, whiter than the photos show. Standard size- diameter is 8 1/2 inches not counting the handle. I use First Class Mail. Parcel Select Mail, or Media Mail to save on shipping whenever possible, and I combine items for shipment to save on shipping costs when possible. Amazing! Seems to be quite rare. I can't find another one lny this maker in this pattern listed anywhere. The bowl is 9" x 5" Surprisingly free of crazing. Chips or cracks on the outside. I looked to my best ability and didn't find any flaws other than a few minor scuffs on the outside. Some minor wear to the decorative trim in the rim. There is some crazing to the bottom of the inside. Please examine all photos.
