It's an old Victorian sewing or dresser box covered in gorgeous sage green silk and dripping with gorgeous antique bridal lace. The lids is done with a rope trim and a rosette which has flattened out a bit. Looks like the top used to be pink but has since faded. Measures 10" x 10" x 3.5" tall. Inside is covered in a pretty faded pink plaid silk. It is in very good shape for it's age considering it's about 100 years old. There are a few light spots here and there but nothing horrible. The worst I saw was UNDER the lace where you don't see it. Not on the lace but under it. There ae a few tiny little holes in the silk but nothing horrible or unusual for the age. It's a gorgeous piece to sit out on your dresser or sewing stand to display. We have so many wonderful vintage treasures that we have picked up to list. This splendid Victorian dresser offers beautiful raised panels of burl walnut on the mirror portion as well as on the drawer fronts. And the top of the mirror has a wonderful carved cartouche with walnut roundels accenting the top portion of the mirror. This lovely dresser measures a total height to the top of the pediment on the mirror of 91 inches( 7ft 6" The dresser width measures 42 1/4 inches, dresser depth measures 18 1/4 inches, and the height from the floor to the top of the marble measures 29 1/4 inches, and this piece weighs approximately 150 lbs. The mirror portion and the marble does lift off to allow easier transport and moving. We believe the mirror to be original and it measures 35 inches high by 19 inches wide and does show some light spotting that's age appropriate. The marble on the base is also original and is in wonderful antique condition with no chips or cracks. The dresser base offers three storage drawers each having the original brass Eastlake pulls and all the locks are intact on the drawers but we do not have they key. Just a very sturdy and well made Victorian Eastlake Walnut Marble Top dresser that would make a great addition to an Eastlake Victorian bedroom. This unusual Sideboard is in its original finish. ... moreAnd still retains its beautiful warm patina. Loaded with Burled and Pencil Point Inlay, this sideboard also has Solid Brass Ormaloo Decoration, Gold Toned Ornamentation and the Original Brass Hardware. We believe the origin of this piece to be French- although it is not marked, but with the level of decoration and craftsmanship and the exotic veneers used, we are fairly confident. The top curio has its original beveled glass curio sides and center beveled mirrored back. The curio doors have a working lock with key. There is a very fine scratch on the top of the left side curio glass door, and 3 small spots of silvering on the beveled part of the center mirror. The Shaped Edge Marble Top is original to the piece and is not cracked or broken, but does have a few slight areas of discoloration, to be expected considering its age. The Spacious base has 2 working dovetailed drawers, 2 lower doors with a working lock and key and full length shelf in its interior, and original brass capped feet. The curio top is removable from the marble, the marble is removable from the base, and then you have the base. This 19th century piece is just gorgeous and would surely be a beautiful focal point in your home. This is a impressive sideboard with gorgeous spoon carvings. Finials, carved Lion heads,burl walnut panel accents and a fancy carved scroll and shell gallery as well as the original beautiful brown marble top and the original brass hardware and early dove-tailed ends on the drawers. This sideboard/ buffet measures a total height of 82 1/2 inches( 6 ft 10 1/2 in) to the top of the carvings on the very top center. Height from the floor to the top of the brown marble measures 36 1/2 inches,with a total width of 48 1/4 inches and a depth at the base of 21 1/2 inches and this pieces weighs approximately 250 lbs. This sideboard does dis-assemble into 4 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. The fine display shelf above the marble measures 26 inches in height above the marble top and the shelf measures 43 inches wide by 11 inches deep.The larger mirror measures 19 inches high by 33 inches wide, and the three mirrors at the top each measure 10 inches wide by 6 inches high. This is a fabulous piece in wonderful antique condition and the original brown marble top is also just beautiful with no apologies we can find. All the locks are intact but the key provided just aids in opening the cabinet doors and does not work the locks. There is a small piece of carving missing on the left side of the pediment inside of one of the scrolls. I have shown a close-up of in the pictures and appears to have been missing for a long time.nothing major in my opinion and definitely doesn't distract from the beauty of this gorgeous 19th century piece. The top right drawer on the inside by the lock is missing a sliver of wood which this cannot be seen unless you open the drawer and left door bottom has a slight hairline which I have shown in a close-up picture also.
