Antique Federal Style Flame Mahogany Dresser w/ Mirror Chest of 6 Drawers Bureau
Antique Federal style mirrored dresser or chest of drawers dating from the early 1900's. Stunning flame mahogany veneers grace the surfaces of this piece and are decorated with intricate contrasting inlay. An inlay medallion of a lamp has been placed atop the swivelling mirror. This piece has six drawers ina 3 over 3 configuration. Providing ample storage space. All the drawers are made with high quality dovetail construction. The entire piece is raised off of the ground by short tapered square legs sitting on brass and wood casters. Overall. This piece is in good condition. There is some noticeable silver loss to the mirror(see pictures) but no cracks or other damage. The wood has some noticeable wear associated with age, including chips and breakage to the veneers or inlay, including the lamp maedallion at the top of the mirror. See ... morepictures. There is also a chip out of the left side finial and the right side finial is missing altogether. The knob that goes over the swivel action of the mirror on the right side has come off, but we do have it. The wheels of the casters do no turn easily and probably need to be oiled. No other breaks or repairs. The bureau stands 72" tall and is 50 1/2" wide and 23" deep. The mirror has maximum dimensions of 43" X 29" We do have other pieces that match this one available. Estimated to have been made in the 1850s, is gorgeous. The dresser's mirror-image crotch-grain mahogany is absolutely beautiful, a hallmark of quality in fine furniture construction. The curved front is lovely, as are the carved backboard and skirt. The finish on the front, sides, and top is glossy; the back is unfinished. All six drawers work perfectly and are outfitted with mushroom-turned wooden knobs. A very special piece! This flame mahogany American Empire-style dresser. Estimated to have been made in the 1850s, is gorgeous. The dresser's mirror-image crotch-grain mahogany is absolutely beautiful. A hallmark of quality in fine furniture construction. The curved front is lovely. As are the carved backboard and skirt. The finish on the front. Sides, and top is glossy; the back is unfinished. All six drawers work perfectly and are outfitted with mushroom-turned wooden knobs. My parents originally purchased this dresser from an antiques dealer in upstate New York and it's been in their smoke-free household for more than 50 years. No maker's mark is evident. Antique Highboy Dresser w Vanity Mirror Top, 6 Drawers & Wood Caster Wheels, 70"
This is an Antique Hard Wood& Paneling. Dresser with Tabletop Vanity Mirror that Swivels, 70 inches tall. Made in USA. Has 6 dovetail drawers without the key to the locks. Top drawers have original porcelain knobs. The other drawer pulls are newer reproductions. Some of the dovetail corners were glued and set with masking tape(old repair holding fine) Mirror frame has a small crack in the back that doesn't show from the front. Should be an easy repair. Siverback mirror was very blotchy and replaced with a new mirror. Dresser sides are constructed with wood panels and have some general wear. Finish is still smooth. Wheels are original wood caster and working. Back was left untouched with remnants of the original white wash paint. Estimate age is 1920's- 30's. This beautiful jewelry box was made in Japan and styled and imported by the Mele Company. Likely in the 1950s. This lovely little box is made of a sturdy hardwood and has a lovely honey-brown color with 6 velveteen-lined drawers. A beautifully carved. Elegant skirt adorns on the bottom. Each of the drawers is ornamented with classic brass drawer ... morepulls. Some of the pulls show some expected darkening and a few light surface scratches. Inside. The drawers are lined with turquoise-blue velveteen which still has a bright, vibrant look. Finally. A mark on the underside of the jewelry box reads"Styled by Mele, Japan" Despite some minor condition issues. This fun little piece remains in good vintage condition.
