Georgian Victorian country oak drop leaf gate leg table
Charming solid oak drop leaf gate leg table in a country style. Probably dates to around the turn of the 19th Century but hard to be sure with a table of this type. The table includes a useful drawer that looks to be original. Although it may have had a new handle added at some point in its life. Table is structurally sound for its age but has two areas of damage to the top(see pictures) and could do with a little wax here and there- i have tried to show these rather than cover them up so you know what you are getting. But they could be remedied by a decent French polisher, covered or just ignored and taken as part of the history of the piece. Typically for a piece of this age there is some evidence of woodworm but looks very old. This makes a great kitchen or occasional table. Fits neatly in an alcove or at the end of a sofa, and of course ... morethe flaps give full flexibility. Dimensions are(fully extended) 42.5 inch/108 cm x 33.75 inch/86 cm top x 27.5 inch/ 70 cm high. Fully closed it is 14 inches deep. Secure and strong with no wobble. Stands level with perfectly level top. Late 1800s; Well kept and in very good condition with minimal wear Nice patina on the horn and brass. Especially the unpolished antique bolts securing the horn sections together. These show the age well. Brass top holds general shape well but with quite a few little dings collected over time. Made from 7 horn sections. All well joined and all good specimens; with an even, gently twisting shape. Originally the feet would each have been capped with brass. It has been well cared for for 115 years by the same family. The oak grain is beautiful and the only flaws are: on the bottom of one of the round feet. Someone cut off a section of the very bottom so that it would fit closely next to something.however, it still is level because they cut off only a section, not the entire tip(please see the last pic) The other flaw is that there is a hair line split on the top where the wood has a miniscule separation. I had to inspect closely to find this. This table requires no restoration whatsoever except for light surface scratches on the top. n oth ing a little bit of old english won't cure. Has beautiful tiger oak detail in the grain. Measurements are as follows: Oval Top is 32.75" long x 18" wide 27" tall from floor to top middle decorative shelf is 7.25" wide x 16" long with scrolling lower 2 round shelves are 10.5" in diameter. This is the only one Ive ever seen in 30 years of antiquing. It weighs approx 23 lbs and is adjustable to fit alongside and over a persons lap for reading or writing in bed. For sale is an antique oval coffee table made between 1875 and 1885 by Victorian out of genuine solid mahogany and Italian marble. One side of the wood has a scratch on it. But the other side is in excellent shape(see pictures) Since it's the same design on both sides, just turn the scratch towards a wall and it will look amazing! The marble is also in amazing shape and is not chipped, cracked or dented. Dimensions are 34 inches(almost 3 feet) long by 18 inches(1.5 feet) high. This table has an incredible amount of history behind it. Imagine Little House on the Prairie days. This table would have been the centerpiece in a luxury house of someone wealthy. Vtg/Antique Victorian Linens 6 Doilies,Table Runners, Flower Baskets
6 antique doilies. Runners. I'm not sure of the exact age but if they're not actually antique they're close to it. Picture 2 is a 6" doily crocheted of a shiny thread I don't see any more and it's heavy for it's size. 3 is an 8" doily that I believe is handmade from a cotton thread but the design is shiny also. It looks like Irish lace. 4 is a scarf or table runner 50"x14" The embroidery is outstanding, it's a shiny thread but it feels like cotton. It's varieagated a cream, white, blue, yellow,lavender, that is so pale it depends on the light hitting it to tell the color. The flowers look like a long and short stitch. It has a few flaws, the black/dark green design is missing some stitches, on this same sidethere are a couple of what looks like water marks near the basket and a small hole ... moreto the right of the basket. They're all hard to see but you should be able to see it on the scan. 6& 7 is a scarf 42" x 13" beige with a purple rayon fringe.I saw on small brown spot and a discolored spot next to it to the right of the design, between the black line and fringe. The embroidery was done with rayon thread, it's very bright and shiny. 8& 9 is a runner 29" x 23"plus 3" fringe on each end. It's cream with purple embroidery, I believe perle thread, and a pulled thread design. 10,11,12 is a pillow cover measuring 17"x15" plus 2" cotton fringe The fringe is unusual, it is tied in the center and a nice edging. It's double and sewn by hand when you put the pillow inside. The flowers look like felted wool sewn on separately with embroidered leaves. I know this has a special name when it's molded flowers but felted I don't know. The color has run slightly on the beige. I've pointed out every flaw I could see but I think they've held up well for their age and wouldn't be noticeable in use.

for auction is a very very nice antique victorian. Mahogany turtle top table. this is quite a stunning piece, very well constructed, solid as a rock, no loose joints, does not wiggle or wobble, sits evenly on the floor, and has no issues to report. its condition is near mint. it has very nice grain in the wood and is solid mahogany, no veneers. it sits on 2 sets of legs that are wonderfully connected by an ornate stretcher. it has a special feature of 3 finials at each corner of the table. i cleaned the top, sorry about the bottom and legs, i didn't realize they were so dusty. pictures do a great job of showing up any dust. it is 39.5 inches wide, 26.5 inches deep, and 29.5 inches tall. it ay be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. thanks for looking and good luck.
