You are considering an antique table/workbench. I tried to take decent pictures so you could judge it for yourself. It shows a ton of wear. I wedged in a piece of rough cut lumber to repair a hole left when piece of equipment was removed. I would call it a rustic repair. I also gave it a light sand and seal. There is also a spot where the is wear deep into the wood. But not all the way through. The table is about 90 1/4" long X 26 3/4" wide X 31 1/2" tall. I will no ship this piece due to its size. You can raise one or both leaves at a time. Tables like this were used to make daily dough on busy kitchens. But today it can serve the purpose of a kitchen table in a small cottage or even a dining table if you have no dining room– when leaves are open you can serve up to 8-10 people and when leaves ... moreare down it takes up minimal floor space. This table was carefully restored, when we did our best trying to preserve it’s original patina and time marks on the top are clearly seen. Because it is solid wood it was much easier to remove them and make this table like new. But we are museum quality restorers, not refinishers. Table is jointed with wooden pegs; uneven. Hand cut dovetails on the drawer and the way how it was constructed, along with early, rusted through nails makes us believe that it is a very old item, dating back to early 19th- late 18th century, but due to the provincial nature of this piece of furniture it just cannot be identified for sure and an exact date of its creation is unknown. It is a quality made item, well build and precisely fit, only three solid pieces of lumber were able to make it 42“ wide, which means that it’s wood came from about 300 years old tree; you will not able to find lumber this wide in stores anymore– all old trees are under protection of the French government now, hence they were almost all gone in 18-19 centuries, when France was producing only solid wood furniture. Antique Harvest Table With Two Drawers For Refinishing-circa 1875-1900
This antique harvest table was bought from auction by my inlaws in the 50s. And they passed it on to us. It would make a great refinishing project for someone. Replacing the ends of the legs to bring it up to normal height will greatly increase its value, as will refinishing the wood. Basically it is a very sound and workable piece. The top is made of two planks, one of which is 22" wide and if you look at the end grain you can see that was alittle over half of the tree's diameter. There are nails(handmade? They have square tops) on the top but the legs are all attached with wooden pegs. The two drawers work fine and there are no cracks, warps, broken wood other than a section on the back of one drawer(see pictures) I believe the wood is oak. Dimensions are 32" wide, 63" long, and 23" high. The drawers are each 18"wide, ... more23"long, and 4 1/2" deep. It has been appraised at $200 in its current condition. For auction is a poplar dining table that is 30 7/8" tall. 36" wide and 11' 11 1/2" long. The table was made by the Amish and constructed from poplar wood found in an old barn in Kentucky. 7 Ft. Primitive Harvest Table from Surry County. NC. From a farm house estate in NC, late 1800s, over 100 years old constructed using wooden pegs and hand-forged nails. You can just imagine the hearty meals served on this table during its life on the farm. The 4-plank poplar top has been refinished(by a previous owner) to make it an"eatable" surface and the skirt and legs are made of pine. The top at one time must have been painted a fire engine red as remnants of red paint can still be seen on its sides. The 4-planked top is original to the table as it has the same old white paint as the skirt and legs painted on its bottom. As you can see the top has some nice knots that add to its patina. There is one 3" surface crack(see photo) which does not interfere with the table's integrity and only gives it more country character. ... moreIts delicate legs are hand-turned with some simple added lines and have what appear to be the original castors on each leg. There is one crack in the top of one of the legs where it joins the table's skirt, but amazingly there is no wobbling what-so-ever and the table is extremely sturdy. And totally beautiful. I have put a light coat of paste wax on the table to help protect the wood and keep its natural weathered look. Dimensions: Length 7 ft(83.5" by 34" wide by 30.5" tall. Including castors. Vintage Low Boy Harvest Table ( Fold out Leaf's ) Super Excellent Condition!
Here up for auction is a vintage low boy harvest table I found in an estate sale here in our great smokey mountains of North Carolina. It's in super excellent condition and just needs a good home. It measures 28 inches deep and 24 inches wide. When the leafs are folded out it's 28 X 40 inches. I do believe it's made from oak but was told it was cherry wood. It's just totally awesome! It has a super smooth opening drawer. All in all it's solid and stout without any wobbles or creeks. We here in the mountains call it a harvest table because our homes were mostly one room places and the room was scarce. These folding type tables were used because they folded up and when harvest time came and quest came over for dinners like Thanksgiving they could be pulled out and folded out in minutes to give plenty of room for the food ... moreand spots to sit and eat at. Kind of the way the chairs were hung around the walls by the ceilings. Now these tables are still used in our mountains and around the world but for end tables that still serve in the same way. Puzzles, extra children table and what have you. This one featured is a great piece of that history and makes a really neat accent to any older style decor home. Description of item for sale: We bought this antique table in Flanders(Belgium) The entire base of the table is genuinely old(1800's) and the top is more recent. We were told that the base without a top was salvaged from a monastery in Ghent. A top was then fabricated for it using the traditional technique: solid oak planks joined and then fastened to the base using wood blocks that allow for top shrinkage/expansion. The system of 6 legs combined with strong stretchers make this table very sturdy. It is in very good antique condition with no significant damage. All of the woodwork is straight and unwarped and there is no woodworm damage. There is just a little dry rot and some chipping on the bottom of two of the legs(photos) that has no effect on the table's stability or appearance. HITCHCOCK HARVEST TABLE WITH FOUR CHAIRS. NOTE TABLE HAS TWO BLEMISHES ON TOP. CHAIRS HAVE BLACK PAINT CHIPPED OFF BOTTOM. MADE IN 1960'S IN UNITED STATES/ RIVERTON.CT Actual measurements are 39 3/4" tall by 59 3/4" long. It is 23 1/2" wide with the drops down. 40 3/4" wide with both drops up. Drops are held up by a pair of boards that swivel out on either side and they butt against a tapered rail to snug up. If you look at my picture showing the edges straight across you can see there is still a little angle left at the end of the table. You can get most of it out by forcing the boards up tighter on the wedge. Table could use a coat of wax but the finish is still pretty nice and nothing is chipped,cracked broken or deeply scratched. Table is signed, sound and solid with no wobble. I have disassembled it now for transport/packing/storage. ... moreThe legs reattach with one wing nut bolt and the leaves reattach with lots of small philips screws. We used a screw gun to take it apart and got it apart in under 5 minutes. To reassemble lay it on a nice thick blanket or carpet upside down and line your drops up then just put the hinges in place and screw them down. Antique 8' Harvest PLANK BOARD Wood Farm Table RARE PRIMITIVE DOVETAILED CORNERS
Offered for sale is what is most likely a ONE OF A KIND 8' harvest table. The table was purchased at an estate auction so unfortunately there is no provenance as to the date but one can assume it is most likely from the early 1900s or even the late 1800s. It features 3 knotty pine planks on top that have lots of character. They all have maintained their form very well. It is most likely because one point someone either sealed it or refinished it and it looks great! The table has a bright golden oak with a red shade to it. Depending on the screen you are using the color could drastically change. Our PC shows the buffet lighter and duller than it is but on the mobile app they appear accurate. There are a couple small cracks at the end but nothing is affect. That and other condition issues have been described in the item condition section ... moreso please look through that if you haven't already. It is a surprisingly light but sturdy table and is assumed that with the planks being pine that the base is too. This is great because if you need to move it around you don't have to assemble a team of people to move the table like you would with a solid oak table this size! The main thing that makes this table unique and most likely one of a kind is the corners of the table. Every antique farm table or reproduced table with reclaimed wood has your turned legs showing on the corners and the side fascia board butts into the corner. There are a couple we have seen that wrap the post and just have one board nailed into the edge of another. Whoever made this table took a very creative approach and HAND CUT DOVETAIL JOINTS to cover the posts. Which were notched in to accommodate the boards. You can look at every corner and see they are all different and some with the cut marks going past where they should. WHAT A FIND! Not only is this extremely unique to find in this(or any antique) table but the dovetail design and the nails into the post almost assures you that the corners will not move around or come apart! Antique Farm Harvest Dining Table Wide Two Board Top
For your consideration is this great looking farmhouse harvest table made from reclaimed lumber. I built the table about 15 years ago and now that we are in a different home I need a different sized table. Thus this beauty is for sale. I turned the legs out of a vintage gymnast balance beam I salvaged some years ago from a school building being razed. The skirt and top is antique barn wood acquired from a barn loft circa 1880's. The two 15" plus wide boards have bread board ends with hand wrought square nails. The table base is mortise and tenoned and pegged with hand cut square pegs. As you can see from the photos I picked out lumber with beautiful character, like the raised grain on the skirt boards and the heavy wear on the top edges.
