Circa 1800-1820 with a cut"Clover Leaf" type top, and an extremely BOLD turned shaft with sweeping dovetailed Cabriole legs and Pad feet. All of this in Mahogany. THIS IS A VERY RARE STAND. A Nice Federal Period New York City stand from the first quarter of the 19th century. It exhibits the classical New York Clover Leaf top design. The shaft is deeply turned out of a single block of mahogany. The clover leaf shaped top has nice Cupid's bow cut corners and is fashioned out of A SINGLE PIECE OF MAHOGANY. The legs are still fashioned in the early Cabriole Style and are Dovetailed into the shaft. The Pad feet are fully intact. It has a tilt top so that it can be used for either a screen or table. The needlepoint is excellent and very pretty. The frame is made from solid mahogany and is in excellent condition. It stands 32 1/4 inches tall as a firescreen and is 20 inches wide and the base is 16 inches deep. As a table it stands 21 inches tall and the top is 24 inches by 20 inches. An early 19th Century Massachusetts Tilt-Top Candlestand circa 1800-1820 with an cut end"Coffin" type top. An extremely BOLD decorated shaft, sweeping Federal legs and the best CARVED SPADE FEET. Birch and maple. THIS IS A VERY RARE STAND. Probably from the North Shore Area near New Hampshire. It exhibits the classical first quarter 19th century design. The shaft is deeply turned out of a single block of maple. The coffin shaped one board top has nice cut corners. The legs are the very fine sweeping Spider Type and are Dovetailed into the shaft. The CARVED SPADE feet are fully intact. The tilt top still retains its original cleats and most of its original hand wrought screws. The brass ... morelatch is original as is the brass catch. The stand looks great either up or down. The surface is an old turn of the century refinish that has mellowed nicely. It has a nice old patina. The condition is great. Usable with good smooth running bearings; can’t tell if they are original or been replaced. Someone has spent a lot of time restoring this saw. Everything from the fence and miter gauge to the cast iron blade insert appear to be original except the motor. The motor is pretty old too. It is a Ball Bearing ½ HP 110/220 volt made by Hoover which runs smoothly and efficiently, see picture. The table(23 ¼” x 21” has clear 45 and 90 degree markings used for quickly set the miter gauge. The tilt scale under the table has the# S344 stamped on it. See picture. My guess it was made in the early 1900’s. The saw weighs about 300 lbs. un-crated) and stands 32 ½” high.
