Here we have a gorgeous carved mahogany tilt top table with a pie crust edge and tri-pod ball in claw feet. Table top has a burl wood veneer that is a little worn and has a blemish. See photos. Appears to be the original finish. I am far from being and expert in this area so any information is appreciated. Table is approximately 29 1/2" tall and 29 1/2" across. IF YOU WANT TO SEE ANY FURTHER IMAGES PLEASE JUST ASK. This superb antique tray-topped tripod table dates from approx. 1780 and is a country piece. It is constructed from what we believe to be solid mahogany and walnut. Although please note that we are not 100% sure of the wood types. The table has an oval tray top, so-called because of the rail around the edge(please note that top does not remove) This rail was constructed from one continuous piece of thin wood, and is joined together at one side with a small metal bracket that is original to the piece. The top can be tilted. The table is supported on a tripod base with a turned central column with ring turnings. Condition: Overall ... morethis handsome piece is in good usuable condition. With some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, scratching and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall a little faded. There are some signs of restoration and repair of various ages. The rail around the top has been repaired in one area. The supports underneath the top have been replaced at some point, and the catch for the top is also a more modern replacement. We believe the top of the central column may have had some work done at some point. One of the legs is slightly twisted. The table is solid and usuable but there is some slight movement in the joints. There are some signs of old woodworm to the base- this is not active, but has been retreated as a precaution. Lovely little Queen Anne snake foot candlestand in mahogany. This has either the original surface or an extremely old refinish. You can see the hand planing marks and the tenon is a square tenon. All the screws are original old screws and there is no damage or repair to the piece. Lovely smooth as glass surface from years of polishing. It would probably be best to remove the top in shipping but I will leave that up to the buyer. It measures 29" high. The top is 14 1/2" by 28" and it is 7" high to the kick-up of the base. Great Antique Chester County. Pa Walnut Queen Anne Tilt Top Table 1750'S Wow what a table! We love tilt top tea tables. And this table is exceptionally nice. Superbly turned Center column. And wonderfully carved Spanish feet. Truly the work of a master turner and carver in Chester County. PA The top even has a moulded edge. To match the nice turnings! This table has a few repairs here and there. Nothing out of the ordinary for a table from the 1750-1770's The top has batons that are dovetailed onto the top boards. And 4 butterfly's to reinforce the top, most likely shrinkage. We are confident that the birdcage is mostly original, but the batons are later repairs done most likely in the late 1800's. The repairs are not modern. They are all hand done. The table was painted. Then subsequently stripped and refinish quite sometime ... moreago. The original finish is long gone. The pedestal was recently French polished by an English master craftsman and is in excellent condition today. With a 45″ diameter this tilt top table would serve perfectly as a small dining table. Conference table, or in a large entryway or foyer with a beautiful vase or statue on it. Tilt top tables ... morehave the advantage of being sturdy but also tilting up and moving out of the way when needed. The mahogany wood is a lovely, dark color and is contrasted with a satinwood band and ebony string inlay around the outside. This combination of colors and grains really makes the table top stand out. Perfectly complimenting the top is a three leg single pedestal base. This base has some carved details. Each of the three legs end in a wooden carved ball and claw foot. The carving is subtle and makes the table feel more elegant. Because the carved pedestal was recently French polished in England and the top is newly made from England the condition is excellent. It is strong and sturdy. The tilt mechanisms work well. The top was made by a third generation craftsman who used traditional. What a cool table! In it's original years. This table was a tilt top and at some point, this table was painted. Was it painted over wood with gold leaf gesso? I don't know. There seem to be several old layers of paint which have added a quality to this table that cannot be achieved other than over time. New paint will never look like this. So, the versatility of this small table is huge as it can fit into many decors since it just has that great look. The gesso or possibly carved flowers and vines up the center pedestal are what really draws one's eye to it. The three legs are all carved and the overall look of this table is French and possibly Italian. The top has the blemish discussed above and shown in photos. Available is an antique Victorian era tilt top table. It is an original and has been fully restored by a professional. The hardware latch has been replaced with an antique reproduction by the restoration professional. The table is in excellent condition without any scratches. Stains, etc. The top measures 34" in diameter which includes the edging. It measures 28" tall and 47" tall when tilted up. There are no markings on the under side as to the maker, but has been dated by the restoration professional to be from the 1860's. This item is being sold for local pick up only. The crown is open and shallow with the brim flowing directly out from it. A 7/8" wide onyx black velvet ribbon is inserted down through each side at the base of the crown and across the back. This forms the ties which are tied either at the back or under the chin to hold it securely on the head.
