The pedestal was recently French polished by an English master craftsman and is in excellent condition today. With a 45″ diameter this tilt top table would serve perfectly as a small dining table. The mahogany wood is a lovely, dark color and is contrasted with a satinwood band and ebony string inlay around the outside. This combination of colors and grains really makes the table top stand out. Perfectly complimenting the top is a three leg single pedestal base. This base has some carved details. Each of the three legs end in a wooden carved ball and claw foot. The carving is subtle and makes the table feel more elegant. Because the carved pedestal was recently French polished in England and the top is newly made from England the condition is excellent. It is strong and sturdy. The tilt mechanisms work well. The top was made by a third generation craftsman who used traditional. Hand finishing techniques to achieve an antique-like finish to the top of the table that will only grow more beautiful as time passes. The base was originally made around 1900. What a cool table! In it's original years. This table was a tilt top and at some point, this table was painted. Was it painted over wood with gold leaf gesso? I don't know. There seem to be several old layers of paint which have added a quality to this table that cannot be achieved other than over time. New paint will never look like this. So, the versatility of this small table is huge as it can fit into many decors since it just has that great look. The gesso or possibly carved flowers and vines up the center pedestal are what really draws one's eye to it. The three legs are all carved and the overall look of this table is French and possibly Italian. The top has the blemish discussed above and shown in photos. VINTAGE ART NOUVEAU GOLD GILT WOODEN SWIVEL TILT DRESSER TABLE TOP PICTURE FRAME
Up for auction is a beautiful gold gilt wooden Art Nouveau tilt/swivel table top picture frame. The outside measurements are: 10" tall X 11" wide(at the base) X 2" deep. The inside measurements of the frame itself are: 6" X 8" This is the maximum size for your image. Of course any smaller image with matting would work. The frame and base are made of a dark brown wood carved in a pleasing Art Nouveau or Edwardian design. The design has been rubbed with a warm gold finish and has a beautiful patina. The swivel works well and stays in place when tilted. This frame is in GREAT CONDITION. The only flaw I see is on the left support post. There is a light spot within the dark brown oval design. This could be easily fixed with a marker or some stain. The frame does not have glass or backing. The bottom is covered in a dark ... morebrown felt which is securely attached and completely intact. I scored this awesome piece at a frat estate sale in DC. I took it to have it"appraised" at a local shop and given very good news but truthfully I knew what I was looking at as you can see in the photos It has all the things to look for all flat head screws the bird cage is in great shape.The pin for holding the table in regular position is hand carved, actually the whole thing has evidence of being hand carved. When the top is folded there is a P wrote in wax/chalk at the top of the center post. The top is a solid piece of wood( I'm not talking about the detailed carved piece running around the top) There are no flaws that I can find it's in beautiful condition! As you can see in the photos It has all the things you want to see flat head screws the bird cage is in great shape,the pin for holding the table in regular position is hand carved, actually the whole thing has evidence of being hand carved. When the top is folded there is a P wrote at the top of the center post. A 1960's vintage professional drafting table. Wooden top is 60"x39" It was made by Stacor in Newark. NJ. The top tilts, both arms and knobs are there(needed a little WD40 to get them to turn) The wooden top is in very good condion. A few holes at top where drafting equipment was attached and a few cuts, etc. Since I have had it(20+yrs) it has had a heavy duty protective sheet on it(see photo) that sheet should be replaced. There are two drawers As you see in the photos the steel body has some staining and pitting- a think a little work and Rustolieum can bring it back. Generally very good overall condition. However, one of the legs has come loose. Looks like it was originally glued on a peg. Could be re-glued easily. Traditional Antique Cherry Tilt-Top Table with large, 34 in. diameter top
A lovely. Antique tilt-top table purchased several years ago in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Very sturdy and stable tripod legs support a turned column supporting(29 inches total height) a 34 in. beveled, round table top. Notably few scratches and all minor. One leg appears to have been reattached and glued. See the photographs to judge its condition. Given the age and quality of the surfaces, I assume it had been refinished sometime before we purchased the table. Local pick up, but we will work with your shipper.
