36" CARVED HUTCH TABLE - TAVERN TABLE - CASSELWOOD FURNITURE GRANTSVILLE, MD.
This was made by Casselwood Furniture in Grantville. Md. sometime in the 1980's. From a little research I conducted this is what I discovered- Casselwood Furniture was started by Alta Schrock a Mennonite lady who devoted her later years in life to developing ways to better the lives of people in Western Maryland. The furniture company was used to develop craftsmanship skills and employment. It supported itself until the early 1990's when it was sold to a private operator. This piece is constructed of 3/4" white pine and is finished with a chestnut color stain and clear sealed. The top is 36" diameter- it is 53" tall when the top is upright. It has a hand carved weeping tree adorning it. The seat is 20" wide x 16" front to back and sits 19" tall- it has a lid that opens for storage. The 4 wooden dowels ... morethe act as hinge pins are totally removable. It has some scratches etc. but nothing major. Nice Antique Hand Pegged Dry Red Color -- Dinning or Kitchen Tavern Table
This is a Great Pegged Antique Country Tavern Table in a Very Usable Size at a very Reasonable Price. The legs are chamfered with a nice bead along the worn stretchers and table skirt. The piece is all hand pegged. Mortise and tenoned together, the drawer is hand dovetailed with square headed nails securing the back with an old lock. The top is pegged to the base. The base has a dry old dusty red color while the top has a mellow brown color. It's great for a small dinner party or for use as a small kitchen island or other work table. It stands 28 1/2 inches high with the top measuring 47 by 31 inches. The piece shows use with worn stretchers, splits in some of the pegged joints, and the top has a small 2 inch by 2 inch patch(see photos) a split and burn mark. However, the piece is rock solid and will hold up to kneading dough or other ... morerigorous kitchen activities. Although I try to describe and photograph all items as carefully as possible. This item is located in NYC. Fresh Meadows, Queens and is pick-up only. Please do not re spo nd unless you are able to pick it up. For sale is a vintage. Expandable, colonial style Ethan Allen heavy pedestal base set. The wood is Antiqued Pine with Old Tavern finish. The table says May 1969 Old Tavern 12-6053 PLT 19 on the underside. The top does swivel off from the pedestal base. Basic round measurement is about 48" Then you have the two 15" leaves so it can be 53" or a 78" oval. There are 5 rush seat chairs. Two of them have the arms and they are holding together solidly. The seats on all of them is in pretty good condition considering their age. I have always used seat cushions and I believe so did others in family who had the set at one point. With regard to the other 3 regular chairs. One is fine. the other two have ... moresome spindle( issues(if that is not the correct term I mean the horizontal cross pieces on the bottom reinforcing the stability of the 4 legs) on one, the spindle is snapped but can/will be glued with gorilla glue, or I believe can be replaced altogether; and the other is missing one spindle completely but the chair is stabilized with monster glue in structural places. This specimen has a large over hung top with bread board ends. Nicely shaped turned legs, single drawer with original pull, molded drawer face, original finish and all pegged joinery. It stands on a great four stretcher connected base and is 48" long, 33 1/2" wide and 25" tall. We note one very old restoration to one of the fastening points from the base frame to the base of the top and a few surfaces scratches to the top. 10' Scottish Castle style Table Tavern Conference Harvest Rustic Hand Hewn Beams
120" long 37 1/2" wide 30" high Made from reclaimed 6"x 6" beams hand hewn and sawn. The top is from reclaimed barn flooring. Mortised and tenon construction with wood pins driven into the joints. The top varies in thickness from 1 1/2" to 2" a very heavy table. The finish is a light to medium brown color, with hand waxed surfaces. This table has the appearance of an antique with a worn course surface. This surface and finish is not for everybody. This is a one of a kind handmade piece. The square holes in the top show that this lumber was shipped down the Susquehanna River from Pennsylvania(circa pre 1860) The lumber was milled, then assembled into rafts and used to ship products down river to Port Deposit Md in the spring. CHEST OF DRAWERS ANTIQUE CHAIRS TABLES BRONZE SCULPTURES FINE PAINTINGS SCHOOL OF ORIGIN SUBJECT LAMPS. LIGHTING AMERICAN PAINTED PINE AND BIRCH WORK TABLE Probably New Hampshire c. 1830 Item# 1404PEG06-Z A skillfully crafted work. The table is designed with an incredibly broad single solid plank of white pine for the top; breadboard ends" or perpendicular tenons on either side of the top, are affixed with thick square pegs to discourage the tendency of the plank to warp. The top is attached with the same large square pegs driven through the top into the corner posts. The frame members are set in grooves on all four posts and joined with a pair of pegs, the lowest edge with thin scratched bead around all sides. Originally the entire table would have been painted a solid color, hiding the mixed woods used throughout; this has since been ... morescraped and much of the table refinished, though the surface remains quite early and nicely patinated. A single drawer slides over pine runners(left runner replaced) the original runner set in a tongue groove in the front and back; construction of the drawer is clean and effective, with tidy dovetails in the frame and the bottom deeply chamfered and set in grooves on either side, a single tack(now absent) originally affixing this board in place. The whole table rests over ring turned and tapering legs, each terminating in a turned and elongated ball foot. A fine acquisition for anyone passionate about American Folk Art and attracted to forms with deep patina and a primitive appeal. Materials: Eastern White Pine(top; drawer runners; drawer sides. Back and bottom; back of frame) Birch(legs) Maple(sides of frame, front of frame and front of drawer) Measurements: 45 5/8" wide x 28" deep x 26 3/4" high; 18 5/8" high to underside of frame Condition Report: Top is almost certainly original. we live in Orange Va. Incorporated in 1834 officially 1872. There's a lot if rich history in our town. Some houses have been here since the town was founded and many of the people have lived nowhere else in their lives! Makes for a great place to live and raise a family. One day a few months ago on our way home we noticed a guy on our street cleaning out his house and stopped to see if he was selling anything he said his mother who had lived in the house his whole life( about 65 years) had past and he was putting things in storage until the family could get together to go through it. But told us we could go through the junk pile and found this table. Just knowing antiques I knew it was quite old so I grabbed it. It's been in my back room since. While watching Antique Roadshow Richmond last night they showcased a piece that looked ... moreso much like my piece I almost jumped out of bed. After looking over what I have compared to what was on the show, I'm positive to say we have a one drawer Virginia tavern table! The drawer has the same wood(pine) that you look for on a Virginia tavern table and it's a very close match! There's a few flaws as you can see from pics it is missing a board at the rear of the top the drawer has some splits and broken spots but is solid. The whole table is a very solid piece if history and is in as found condition! Look up Antique Roadshow Richmond,Virginia Tavern Table. It has a few nails here and there someone added over the year. This is a wonderful antique Tavern Table from the early to mid 18th Century. The base is of Maple. And has been reduced in stature by time and wear. The table is 32" wide, 21.5" deep, and 25" tall. The top is of Pine wood in two pieces. It bows slightly, and As the grain goes together, I believe that it was 1 piece in the beginning. Antique French Tavern Table 18th Or Early 19th Century Wood
This is a very rare and very old antique French tavern table from the 1700's or early 1800's. It is in very good condition with no notable flaws. I'm not sure the type of wood but it is solid I believe either oak or mahogany. It has two leaf inserts. One on each end. As you can see in the pictures you can leave them in or remove them if you want a smaller table. The entire table measures 92" long by 27.5" wide and 31" tall.
