Vintage Ameythst Shallow Bowl Rare, Gorgeous Antique 9 3/4" round x 2" deep
This is an unusually beautiful piece of amethyst or purple glass. I am not sure exactly what it was originally made for or called. My daughter has had it for about 25 years and had a candle sitting in the center for display. The shallow bowl has slightly rounded sides and measures 9 3/4 inches in diameter. It stands 2 inches tall. But 1/4 inches of it is a round bottom the has a diameter of 4 1/2 inches. As I examine it, I see old air bubbles and a couple of manufacturer's imperfections that are part of the piece. One is almost discernable in one of the photo on the base(sort of a crescent shape) The other is in the center of the bowl itself and is also crescent shaped. This is an estate find that I’m selling as I found these items knowing little of there history and only what I can see and what I see is 12 excellent condition Arcoroc bowls that look to have never been used. These bowls was found in a damp basement in there original boxes but original boxes are not included as they are too badly damaged. Boxes were falling apart from water damage to the point that the boxes was sticking to the bowls and the bowls needed a hot water rinse. Are Los Angeles Pottery and Los Angeles Potteries the same? Here is summary of what I found on the net and in the books I had. I hope it helps anyone interested. Los Angeles Potteries was started in 1940. When it turned to artware and figurines in the 1950’s. They were sold through N.S. Gustin of Los Angeles. N.S. Gustin Company was incorporated in 1958. In December 1970, when Los Angeles Potteries closed, they sold all their molds to N.S. Gustin, which used them at Designcraft. N.S. Gustin was a part owner at Designcraft. Designcraft closed in 1992.
