Entirely original hardware, c. 1790-1800 Item# 130011MIP03 This is a fine English George III Period Inlaid Mahogany Pembroke Table c. the last quarter of the 18th Century. Crafted from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers. Everything about this fine table speaks quality and attention to detail. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the construction precise and the wood of most choice quality for pristine presentation. The large rectangular top becomes ovular when the demilune leaves raise over their original iron hinges to rest on a pair of wings that swing out from the frame of the table on either side, resulting in a large and brilliant cognac mahogany surface edged by satinwood inlay. The ribbed and glowing quality of the mahogany cannot be underscored enough. A single drawer resides in the frame beneath the projecting top; the drawer is framed with cockbead molding and is hand dovetailed in the usual manner. Utilizing secondary oak woods to make up the frame for the drawer, the bottom board protected beneath runner strips and tacked with four iron brads along the back edge. The lock is probably original, though we have not removed it to be certain, the key now absent. On the other side of the table, the wood is crafted to create the illusion of a drawer where one does not exist. Flanking the drawer and faux-drawer are satinwood veneered panels surrounded by stringer inlay, the apron of the table lined in a thick satinwood border that completes the square profile of the table top. Resting over four square tapering legs. The table terminates on bright and original brass caster feet. The underside of the structure remains untouched, the iron rose head nails affixing the underside of the dustboard to the frame of the table with a pair of corner blocks securing the legs behind the faux-drawer. Solid Mahogany Drexel Pembroke Side Table - Very Fine Quality
This is a very fine quality Drexel Pembroke side table from their 18th Century collection. The piece is dated 8/83 making it over 30 years old and it's condition relatively superb. The piece is absolutely stunning! The proportions and posture are elegant. The brass pull and inlays on either side of the drawer really bring it together. The single small drawer is finely crafted with dovetail joints all around. Solid mahogany front, super smooth operation, precise and snug fit, and perfectly aligned and positioned front face when closed. But nothing used is flawless and I captured them the best I could in the photos. There are some faint polish cloth swirl marks on the top but you must look at the piece under the right lighting and angle to notice it. I am anal about condition and would rate it a 4.3 on a scale from 0.0 to 5.0 with 5.0 being ... moremint. The piece is 27" tall and 28" long. With the leaves down the width is 19.5" and 34" with them up.

I rescued this from my Great Grandfather's farm in 1977 after he passed away at age 92. The farm was established(or at least the barn was built) 1819.Originally the Enezer Eaton(passed away in 1847) farm. ANYWAY. this was in one of the out buildings. I brought home. Cleaned up& treated with Linseed oil. The top middle was rough so, I wood burned a chess table in center& trimmed with acrylic paint. Came out nice! 1 inch squares for chess. I was told in 2004 from a reputable antique dealer from Lebanon, Ohio, that he thought it was a HEPPLEWHITE/PEMBROKE table from the 1800's. No further research has been done by me, though I did see a couple of HW/P drop leafs same size(center14" wide, overall with leafs open 21"front to back& 29" wide. Drawer is 91/2"W X 14 1/2"D X 2 1/4" high)on line& ... morelooked very similar, but the inlay I found on mine, after cleaning, around entire edge is a little fancier than on others. ALL original! Nice original drawer pull, hinges ETC. Drawer has large dove tailing. I also have a cut piece of Burgandy velvet I place in drawer. No repairs that I can see. Drops are nice& tight as is all else. The table is really attractive all around! The"Classic Games Company" Napoleonic Chess set I purchased in 1972 From a friend. MADE IN 1966 is complete& SUPERB condition with original box. Booklet& board. Pieces are weighted with felt bottom(a couple of felt pieces have been replaced) King is"4!4 inches tall. Box is in near perfect condition with age. Ebony inlay banding around the skirt in the front and back. One pull out drawer with oak secondary woods. And finely dovetailed construction. To the best of our belief, it retains the original wallpaper drawer lining. Mahogany tapered legs resting on brass casters. Great state of preservation! Nearly original condition. As far as we can tell. There has been no restoration work do e on this table. There is a bit of veneer patching on the drawer, but nothing major. There is some veneer bubbling on the back panel of the skirt, not loose. Minor dings and wear& use marks throughout. 4 small shrinkage splits in the top. None are loose, but they are there. Pembroke type occasional table is mahogany with a shapely curved top over one drawer and unadorned legs of a George III style. Perhaps a Hepplewhite pattern. Curved reed edge detail on the top. S light nick here on the left side. And the top surface is done in a French polish. Square tapered legs. Single drawer has keyhole joint construction(similar to a french dovetail joint) and a brass plate"Clinton Shops Guaranteed Furniture" embedded on the right side. Drawer glides smoothly. Hinges and the side supports for the drop sides move well. No breaks. I note a bit of dried up hide glue at one rear corner. The hinges are well aligned and the screws appear old(irregular threads) The color is difficult to show in the photos and can best be described as dark reddish brown. It measures approximately 23-5/8" long. With the leaves open, it measures about 46-1/8" long. We do not know the maker. There is overall normal surface wear commensurate with age and use, including dings and scratches found commonly on antique furniture. Description: This late Victorian Pembroke Table was made in England around 1860. It is made from mahogany with crossbanding around the edge of the table top. The legs are inlaid from top to bottom. This table features one real drawer and one dummy drawer. The real drawer is lined in oak and is missing the original lock. The handles on both drawers are original. But the ones on the real drawer do have some damage. The drop leaf mechanism works perfectly. The table sits on tapered legs with the original casters. This pembroke table includes a convenient drawer with a solid brass handle. This table measures 38″ x 22″ with both leaves down. and 38″ square with both leaves up. Three factors have contributed to our rating of fair on this piece. Although it is still a sturdy and functional table. The top has sustained various stains and indents. The rosewood banding around the outside has developed crackling and crazing. Finally, the side with the drawer has some cracks. These cracks have not affected the sturdiness of the table but they are quite obvious. Despite these flaws this is still a very nice Pembroke table that would look wonderful in the right home. A view of the finished back. A very beautiful table from all angles! More detail of the stains and dings to the top. Here you can see the crackling of the banding and some of the stains to the top. Two supporting arms swing out on both sides to support the leaves. These are the cracks by the drawer. A single brass ring pull can be found on the drawer. Square tapered legs are simple but elegant. The single drawer provides a little storage in the table.
