Heavily carved shaft and legs ending in snake feet. The table ... morestands in closed position about 24 3/4 inches tall with a slightly oval top measuring 18 1/2 by 18 3/8ths. The piece has carved knees culminating in snake or pad foot. The piecrust edged is sculpted from a single board. It looks to have had some butterfly joints to hold together the top that appears to have some natural age splits. It is marked or written"1821" underneath the table top.and likewise some other indiscriminate markings and an old paper label Please see photos. The The top looks to be original to the base with no movement of the original brass hardware or the boards that run parallel on the base of the top. The coloration and patina is second to none. Provenance: The table comes from the Luxurious Estate of Stephen M. Stackpole of Grosse Pointe MI and had been passed down from the descendants of the Alger Family. Stephen M. Stackpole's father Stephen T. Stackpole Married Annette Sheldon the Grandaughter of General Russel Alexander Alger of Civil War Fame. For sale is a very nice oak desk with slant top and two drawers. It is 5 feet long and is probably early 1900s. These desks are hard to come by. About 2 feet deep. 3 feet 5 inches at the highest point. The legs are bolted on and so can be removed relatively easily. There are a couple of cracks in the legs- one repaired and the other does not need repair. I am not sure of the original intended purpose of this desk. Some describe it as a railroad desk. Also school or teachers desk. Drafting desk. It is great looking. Though. There are two holes in the top for some sort of cylinders, maybe pens or drafting tools. 1. Likely white oak. Fumed, not stained, to darkened, splayed legs. 2. Stretchers have 6 keyed tenons. End beveled, as are tops of keys. 3. Oak stock of leg pieces are 3/4 thick. Stretchers are 5/8" 4. Top is 3/4" thick. 13" x 17" quarter sawn. 16" tall Now. What is it, and whose partial decal is adhered to the bottom? Some A&C rockers were very close to the floor, and this may have been a table and magazine shelf nearby. It has not been upholstered, but one could sit long enough to get shoes tied. We have search at least 20 period catalogs on line, and found nothing even close to this. We believe by form and wood thickness that is is early, with the overall look of what some call"chunky" usually thought to indicate the earler style. It is a rubbed finish, no evidence of varnish, but perhaps over the ... morelabel. Unfortunately someone spent quite a bit of time picking at the label, which is either very thin paper or a decal. There is definitely a dark red color to the label, which looks to have a slight trapezoidal shape. Any assistance in identifying possible make will be helpful. Condition Specks of white paint here and there. Expected edge dents. Darker area to top, coarse cut to surface leaves texture of grain; certainly not put through a plainer. This amazing piece was bought from a doctor in Delta Colorado. It's got stir-ups for delivering babies. Arm rests for arm surgery, folding back, folding legs, back rest. Foot pedals for raising or lowering. In pretty good condition. The front and back of the table are identical, shelves slide either way, missing 1 glass shelf and a couple others are chipped a little. You are bid ding on an 8 ft regulation pool table in Oak finish. It has a 1" 3pc slate smoothed over the seams with bee's wax. It comes with all accessories including balls. sale a wonderful hastings split pedestal antique quartersawn oak 54 inch round dining table that opens to 10.5 feet. it has the tyden locking mechanism and a wonderful contoured skirt. it has very thick table glides and is solid quartersawn oak. No veneers. it opens and closes with the greatest ease. it has a center leg and a locking mechanism. you will not find better quartersawn oak i don't think in any table. the flake is very large. the pedestal is remarkable, huge claw feet and heavily carved knees that are high, deep, and thick. the table has one of the finest pedestal i have seen in this type table, it also has a carved collar above the legs the table is hastings quality or better. it is in near mint condition. i know of no carving missing or defects in the construction. it is very solid and does not wiggle,wobble,or move anywhere ... moreit is not suppose to move. i have 4-12 inch quartersawn oak leaves for it. when the leaves in place, the table is 8.5 feet. it could accept another 12 leaf, 2 would not work as you need a little space to get them together. 8.5 is big enough for most rooms, in fact too long for many dining rooms. there is a light dark place in finish on the top. the pictures make it look 10 times worse than it is. it is barely noticeable just looking at the table. it never bothered me, but it could be sanded out with ease. save this there is no other issues to report. it is absolutely a very fine table, heavy and thick, great carving and the best quartersawn oak in any table. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck.

This is an antique table mash up of a 1910's- 20's singer sewing table base I pulled out of a house in my neighborhood and an early 1900's oak opticians work table top. The oak top has some scratches and other small testaments to its age. I cleaned it up a little and put a fresh coat of finish on the top but left the wear and tear alone as its part of that tops history. The base is in great condition- no breaks. Cracks, the original paint/japanning finish is in very good condition. The overall table measures 24" long/wide x 15" deep x 29" tall. It's really convenient. Top locks in any position and side knobs are fully functional. Added bonus feature is the sliding strait edge ruler! The base has one drawer to the right with sliding tray inside.
