The table features an attractive surface of parquetry inlays. The four cabriole legs have carved foliage to the top. And a shaped skirt(apron) with a carved central motif to the long sides of the table. When closed the table comfortably seats six(6) people and opens up to accommodate up to 10 people. How wonderful for those big family/friend gatherings. The table measures 150cm long by 100cm wide when in the closed position. And opens up to 267cm fully extended. The height of the table is 75cm and the height to the skirt(apron) from the floor is 61cm. Both extensions have parquetry tops and a simple slide in/out mechanism that is in good working order. This table is in lovely condition. The only thing to mention is the slight difference in the colour of the fixed table top and the extensions. Probably due to their, non use. There are no faults or defects, however age-appropriate wear and character marks should be expected. The set of six(6) chairs. Which are almost a match for the table, photographed with the table will be available for sale in a separate listing. If you are interested in both items please contact us. Should someone choose to make it open wider, i have set of slides that will open to 10 feet i think that i will give to the buyer. at any rate, this is a very well done quartersawn oak table. as you see it has a very finely carved center leg that matches the four support legs, 2 each on either end that are connected by a very nice carved stretcher. the table is 48 inches by 48 inches when closed and without leaves. i bought this table about 8 years ago and paid what i am starting it for. i have over 20 dining tables and actually only need one, therefore i suppose as my daughter says dispose of some stuff before i kick the bucket. this is a very well constructed table that is level, rolls well, and is in wonderful condition. when i bought it there were no leaves with it, so i made some leaves out of leaves i had and it will open to six feet with them in place. should someone need extra leaves or want to make more, i have several here and there and could probably part with some of them if i can figure out for sure i am not giving away leaves that go with another table. of the many 48 inch tables i have and have had, i do not recall a nicer or better put together table of its size. the legs are great to say the least. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. a very nice table for the right person should they see it on ebay. good luck. ps. i just took a look at the pictures i posted. i did not realize the table was so dirty and dusty. the leaves have been under a sideboard for years. anyway, sorry about that, it will dust off and clean up very well. one of the perks of getting older is that you don't see all the dirt and dust.

Mid century modern oak dining/conference table and chairs Danish/Eames
This is an unusual set of chairs and table that could be used as a conference table and chairs or a dining room set. The workmanship is outstanding; there is no maker's mark or company label- only what appears to be a customer's name(Borgia? written in pencil on one of the chairs. The table measures 39" wide x 60" long- 80" with leaf. It is a refractory type table which says dining to me- meaning the leaf pops up from the middle when the sides are spread open. On the other hand. All the chairs have a metal inset on the edges of the back and arms(see photo) that says conference set to me. My best guess is that it was custom made. Notice the way the back has a circular shaped inset to form the curve- a much sturdier design then other curved backs that I have seen. The upright arms give it a modern look. This is simply a beautiful. Ornate, hand carved oak dining table made in the Jacobean/Elizabethan era style. It comes complete with 6 matching chairs, one of which is a captain's chair. It has been extremely well cared for, after all it's over a hundred years old! The bottom of the table top has been painted black, so i cannot find any markings that might indicate who made it, or the exact year. It has been reenforced with some sturdier brackets underneith. It's in fantastic shape. Two of the chairs are not featured in the pictures, but are included. The seats will need to be recovered as the threading is coming apart, but all the oak is solid and beautiful. When I purchased this set 8 years ago, I was told this was quarter sawn oak, but I can't confirm this(maybe you can tell by the pictures) The table is 5 feet long by 38 inches wide(two leaves retract under the main table) When the table is expanded it is 91 inches long. This is in good condition with wear for a dining room set of this age. One leaf will need minor adjustments to the retracting mechanism.
