Mid century modern oak dining/conference table and chairs Danish/Eames
This is an unusual set of chairs and table that could be used as a conference table and chairs or a dining room set. The workmanship is outstanding; there is no maker's mark or company label- only what appears to be a customer's name(Borgia? written in pencil on one of the chairs. The table measures 39" wide x 60" long- 80" with leaf. It is a refractory type table which says dining to me- meaning the leaf pops up from the middle when the sides are spread open. On the other hand. All the chairs have a metal inset on the edges of the back and arms(see photo) that says conference set to me. My best guess is that it was custom made. Notice the way the back has a circular shaped inset to form the curve- a much sturdier design then other curved backs that I have seen. The upright arms give it a modern look. For auction is one beautiful and rare dining table and chair set designed by Vico Magistretti for Artemide in 1969. The chairs are the"Selene" model and the table is the matching"Stadio 80- ARA" model. T he Selene chair was the first monobloc chair made from just a single. Injection-molded piece of 3 mm thick fiberglass-reinforced polyester. A stunning and historically significant design that paved the way in high-end molded plastic furniture manufacturing. The Selene chair is included in the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The Vitra Museum, and other leading museums around the world. The Selene chair was also shown at the 1972 exhibition“Italy: the New Domestic Landscape” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This set is in very good vintage condition. The red ABS plastic top is ... morein great overall condition but for a couple of noticeable cracks; one in one corner above the leg. And another right in the middle on one side(both pictured) The table is quite structurally sound despite them, however. There is also one large, straight scratch on the tabletop in one corner that's about 5" long(also pictured) The legs are a slightly different shade of red than the top, and I'm unsure if this is original to its manufacture or if the legs have lightened somewhat from sunlight. Early ABS plastic furniture is known to be susceptible to UV ray discoloration; white and lighter plastics tend to yellow and darken, and darker plastics can lighten or fade. As you can see from the photos, however, the difference in color is not significant enough to detract from the overall appearance. The table measures 32" square by 28" tall. The chairs are all in excellent shape but do have minor scratches and light scuffs common to decades of use. Most noticeably on the edges of the seat from being stacked(they nest quite perfectly! and on the back of the backrests. Vintage Herman Miller George Nelson EOG Work Dining Table Mid Century Modern
For auction is one original Herman Miller EOG table designed by George Nelson. It is in excellent overall condition. The round metal legs are perfect. And the wood grain laminate top has a few light scratches and a barely noticeable"clouding" in areas from wear. There is some chipping in in the walnut veneer edge at the corners, as well as an area on one edge where some letters have been lightly scratched into it(see photos) The original Herman Miller tag is present. Glides are adjustable. Table measures 71" long. 29.5" deep and 29.75" tall. The top is 1.25" thick. This would make a wonderful work or dining table. When sides are up it measures 65" by 28" There are 4 leaves that measure 44" by 10" so when all together the table is 105" long. Plenty of Room for a Big Family. The table has slightly curved sides and the Futuristic style legs with the"Brass color" caps on bottom of legs. There is wear and scratches to tabletop(It is over 60 years old) and the largest spot is about 5" wide- looks like maybe water glass damage. This damage is shown in the next to last picture. The curved sculptural legs give the table top a floating appearance. There is black writing"322-56" which may be the model number and there is also a serial number stamped in black. Table is 29.5" high; 42"x42" square- a perfect size for a kitchen or apartment. Includes two 18" wide leaves to accommodate guests. The original walnut table top has been protected with a quality finish called Waterlox(medium sheen) which is food safe. Non-yellowing, and even resists alcoholic drinks.
