This period table offers its original beveled edge white and grey veined shaped marble top that's in fine antique condition with appropriate age and character marks as common with old marble.After all this table is approximately 170 years old. Solid marble top. French Provincial side or end table, marked on the bottom Made in Italy. It measures 17 1/2" high, and 20" square across the top. In great condition, no chips or cracks in the marble. One leg has a crack in the wood, though it does not appear to be a repair or to have any affect on the function. It's still strong and sturdy. This item is an antique. Victorian, marble top coffee table with a marble top(Italy) It may be mahogany. Dimensions: Height, 16.5 inches; Width, 34.5 inches; Depth( 22.5 inches. There is carving on both sides. The table is solid and in good condition. With some signs of wear which I think could be corrected. The marble is in good condition, no chips or cracks but some little brown specs(see photo) that could maybe be lightened with bleach and a toothpick. Just guessing, here. There is one little scratched area about an inch long through one of the dark gray areas, but, I also think this could be corrected. The table bottom portion has a wood top and is marked"Made by Victoria" I think- the last few letters of"Victoria" are illegible) This table has been in my family since its original purchase. Details: A vintage wrought iron side table with an inset pinkish/ brown marble top. As you can see. The iron base has a lovely twisted motif that encircles the top with a scalloped drape, as well as accents where the legs join the bottom shelf. The ivory paint appears to be original. I am not sure of the exact age or where it was made, but it appears to have some age on it, and is similar in style to some Italian wrought iron furniture I have seen from the late 40's, early 50's. Works great as a bedroom or living room end table or you could use it as a garden table, or in a sun room. The table measures 23 1/2" high x 24 1/2" wide x 18 1/4" deep. Condition: Overall condition is good. Paint shows signs of wear consistent with age, paint loss, chips, and rust in some places. Iceboxes date back to the 1830s. Most iceboxes were insulated with mineral wool. Charcoal, cork or flax straw fiber. The inside of the icebox was usually lined with galvanized metal, zinc, slate, porcelain, or wood. The ice box literally began as a wooden box. The hey day of the ice box was something like this: The iceman delivered ice for the first ice boxes the predecessor of the modern day refrigerator. Ice was purchased by the pound for the ice box from a frozen water salesman not unlike a milk man. Of course the ice melted in the first crude ice boxes, so the iceman was in great demand. The tin-lined area that held the ice had a rubber tube that was attached to the bottom at a drain hole to relay the water to a pan under the ice box.
