Tea Table features nice deep color and grain pattern. With a scalloped skirt resting on four cabriole legs with slight carving to knees, with protective hard rubber foot terminal ending. There are no candle slides on this model. Construction is rock solid steady with stamped markings underneath, but no maker name, could be any one of several small factories making colonial reproductions of good quality well before the internet and big box store days. Glue blocks on corners undererneath are nice and sound. This is all solid wood, not a cheap chip board foreign mahogany lookalike with sprayed laquer finish that looks garish in person! Condition Report: Slight rub mark to leg as shown. Small burn mark on top. General wear and tear of a used piece. Made in England, Victorian era, Circa 1890, Mahogany, Hidden drawer, Carved leg, Dovetailed drawer, Some normal wear to top, Age splits and old repairs to apron, A wonderful antique specimen from England around 1890. This hall table was probably once used as a washstand. But today would function perfectly in a foyer, entryway, hallway, or stairwell. The mahogany has a particularly nice patina to it that can only come with age. The piece features a hidden drawer in the middle for a little bit of storage room. The nicely carved front leg gives the table some pizazz while the clean lines of the piece don't over do it. The drawer is dovetailed, a sign of high quality craftsmanship. There are a few age splits and old repairs in the apron shown in the photos. These are purely cosmetic phenomenon and do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. The top also shows wear marks consistent with age and has a faded ring to the right side. Overall the table is quite sturdy and would make a wonderful addition to any home. The top is a beautiful patinated mahogany. It is in good condition. You can see the slight ring to the right side. The top does show signs of wear consistent with age in the form of tiny dings all over the surface some of which can be seen here. The wonderfully carved leg is supportive and good looking. The hidden drawer pulls out to reveal some storage space. The drawer is dovetailed. A sign of high quality craftsmanship. Both sides have similar slight age separations and repairs on the apron. The desk retains the original photograph from when it was retailed by Jacques Bodart, Inc. during the first quarter of the 20th Century, noting this as#1681. It is a gorgeous piece, the original gilt highlighted tooled green leather preserved in remarkable condition, framed in well patinated molded mahogany over five drawers. We got this is exactly like this. The set of chairs consists of two carved ribbon back arm chairs which were added to the other four side chairs. The arm chairs. Like the side chairs, are all a notably very high quality solid mahogany chair. The arm chairs are slightly darker with carved rosettes accenting the ribbon back splats. We can and will tone the four side chairs so they are an exact color match. Items are coming in at a very fast pace and we are trying to stay ahead of the listing work. It has semi eliptical top and base, a heavily crotched figured mahogany 4" apron with curved formed corners, three oval coca bola and satinwood inlaid panels, a fine inlaid coca bola& satinwood inlaid border running around the base of the apron and satinwood string inlay running around the leg blocks and the finely tapered legs. We noticed this piece was dry when it came in and gave it a feeding wax application before taking these photos so please excuse any shiny glare. This card table is 36" long, 17" wide and ... more29 1/2" tall. It has a hinged swing out back leg that supports the card table when its opened to its 34 1/2" width. There is an old professional repair to the surface of the table's top under the folding lid. It has a few light scratches that will fill in when we give it a tinted waxing and buffing. We just don't like to wax pieces until they are leaving the shop. We are constantly moving the shop around and the wax gets smudged when we have to pick up a waxed piece to move it. Lastly we noted a very small chip of wood gone near the left lower lid. We are sending this over to our woodworker for a splice that will be completely invisable. We have deep connections to the South Shore of Massachusetts and Weymouth. Abiel White was the decesendant of Mayflower passenger Perigreen White of Marshfield, Massachusetts. Circa 1790 Item# 130002IRP01 This is a wonderful English Chippendale Period Carved Ball and Claw Foot Antique Game Table. Late 18th Century c. 1790. It is a piece upon which no expense was spared in the production. As every design embellishment commonly associated with the period was executed on this piece. The mahogany top has a nailed quarter-round rim applied on both levels, opening on original brass hinges and untouched screws to reveal a replaced felt surface bordered by mahogany. It projects softly over the frame. This being covered in vertically grained mahogany veneers not just on the front and on the sides, but also along the entire back. This added expense of finishing the back leg surfaces and adding the thick veneers is typically superfluous and ... moreconsidered unnecessary, as the table would remain against the wall- this detail certainly hints this was a commissioned piece for a home of means. The frame is dovetailed pine, as evident when opening the rear gating-leg, the drawer blades likewise dovetailed on either side as they stretch horizontally beneath and above the drawer. The facade of the table has a single broad drawer in the center. The edges framed in tacked cockbead molding(absent on the right side) around the dovetailed oak secondary woods, the bottom crafted of five untouched oak boards nailed perpendicular to the face. The cast brass bail pull handle is absolutely gorgeous, an entirely original and entirely hand forged work of art still retaining it's original backplates, pins and nuts. The underside of the apron has applied gadrooned molding. Nailed every few inches from beneath with short iron nails, carved to match up with the outward flowing acanthus scrolls of the knee returns. The workmanship in the carved knees is exacting, the crisp flowing rococo lines simply sprawling over the sharp knees and down the leg as a natural outgrowth from the gadrooning. American Chippendale Mahogany Pie Crust Table. Possibly Southern States Last quarter of the 18th Century. Hairy Paw Ball and Claw Feet Item# 130101RQY27 This is an American Chippendale Period Mahogany Pie Crust Birdcage Tea Table. Crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century. Possibly in the Southern States. The bold turned baluster relates to many forms seen along coastal North Carolina. Though it is a difficult piece to attribute with any certainty as similar works are also found in Philadelphia. More research would be necessary to attribute the piece with any authority. A very handsome work. The top is crafted from a single board of mahogany, a broad piece measuring an immense 37 1/16" x 36 3/8" It's sharp and well formed rim is carved of the solid, and from all appearances seems to have been sunk by hand rather than ... moreby turning, the craftsman planing this board until the outer inches of the rim remained upraised. These would then be carved and chiseled until they took on the form you now see. This is a highly labor intensive process and is more generally seen from shops with lower volume of production. We believe this table was probably in rough shape at one point in it's not so distant past. A condition that required the restorer to take apart the birdcage(note the alterations to the birdcage) remove the old rails and replace them and restore the cracking and loss around the base where the legs join the pedestal. As a result, it is difficult to be certain that the top truly is original to the table, though we do believe it is after closely examining it. The slideshow has many close up pictures that will allow you to determine that for yourself. The birdcage mechanism allows the table to swing freely. A small wedge-tenon sliding into the crevice in the top of the pedestal to lock the entire device in place. Rectangle in overall form with a soft curvature to the front lined along the edges with dual-bands of satinwood stringer inlay. It is hinged at the corners, both hinges original, the top lifting fully to lower upon a green-felt padded outward swinging rear leg. The facade of the table conforms to the top, bowing gently along to square at the corners. At the centermost is an oval flamed-birch veneer surrounded by mahogany veneers flanked by rectangular birch selections. Beneath the veneered edges and face of the table is a half-diamond repeating inlaid edging. The table rests over tapered square legs, each beautifully framed in satinwood stringer inlay. The underside of the table is fully original. All blocks remaining intact with original glues and generally showing an undisturbed surface. Hand forged iron rose head nails as well as the original hand cut screws are still securing the underside, all generally undisturbed. The secondaries appear to be New England White Pine, making up the remarkably thick frame, knuckle joint and swinging leg. The table joins with large hand cut dovetails at the back corners, one visible when the gating leg swings outward. Within the oxidization are faintly visible inscribed letters, though at this point they are illegible. This is a very handsome piece in rare condition. Remarkably preserved in every aspect. It is the work of an artisan, perfectly formed with strong clean lines and flawless inlays. It is a wonderful find for any serious collector of New England works of furniture. Federal Marquetry Card Table (1780 -1810) Mahogany with Gorgeous Inlay
This is a fine period federal table with exquisite marquetry inlay all over. Tapered legs, fold out rotating game top with internal game compartment, and compact for display and use anywhere in the home. This is a fabulous piece of federal furniture. Circa 1790-1810 The top has a center split from wood shrinkage as almost all these types of tables do. A stain and a few light losses of inlay on the top. Marquetry on legs and body is superb which tells me that this is exceptionally well made table. This masterpiece measures 29 1/2" tall by 31 3/4" long by 16" deep. Tel: 01432 357753 Description: This is a very nice quality mid to late 20th Century mahogany large twin pedestal office/ writing table/ desk with antiqued gilded tooled red leather skivers/ inlays. The desk stands on a blind plinth with rounded corners. Rising over which are two banks of four drawers, each having solid mahogany fronts with solid brass dropper handles of Rococo design with pierced oval back-plates, the drawers having mahogany linings and dovetail joints. To the kneehole is a single frieze drawer and over each bank there is a pull-out brushing slide. The desk is surmounted by a rounded corner moulded top with an ogee edge cross-banded in mahogany and inset with the antiqued red leather skivers with ... moregold tooling. To the reverse side of the desk there is a panelled back with a modesty panel to the centre. The desk is a free standing piece of furniture to enable it to stand in the centre of a room, and of good size. Date: The desk dates circa 1950- 1980. Condition: The desk is in good original condition for its age. Having one small shrinkage shake in one of the uprights on the rear side of the desk. All of the drawers and slides run well.
