This wonderful period work table has two drawers. Original Sandwich glass knobs(on on the top right side has a very tiny 1/8th" chip on the back flange section) a solid figured mahogany top with a old but stable seasoning split in it, solid mahogany side panels and a mahogany stained pine back panel with all its original glue blocks under the edge of the back of the top plank. It has a finely made cylinderical tapered center column, a divided top work drawer, a lovely shaped base with graceful legs having round carved appliques. We have acquired the main body of the all the important furniture that graced this intact early 18th century estate. This offering is for an amazing heavily flame mahogany grain two drawer drop leaf on convexed eight sided tapered column leading to a four sided base standing on graceful Ogee Elephant feet. This fine work table is in wonderful condition only having some typical veneer loses around some of the Ogee feet's side profiles from crotched veneer flaking with almost 200 years of New England climate changes(an issue our woodworker will expertly address prior to this piece leaving ... moreour shop) and a slight warping to its top. This is another issue not terribly uncommon to this particular fashion of early 1830's Empire work tables due to the secondary woods used by period cabinet makers under the heavily grained flame mahogany veneer. Fabulous Federal Mahogany Inlaid Card Table Circa 1790
This is a stunning inlaid Federal table dating to about 1790. It is half round folding out to a full round. Each top half is made of solid Mahogany with an incredible golden wood grain beauty. The inlay looks either Baltimore or Rhode Island. I'm not sure. The table is in excellent condition for its age. A few repairs and a few cracks around the inlay to show its age. Light warpage between the two tops with shrinkage of wood over time. It measures 28 1/2 high and 35 3/4" in diameter. Just a gorgeous Federal piece! Will hand deliver if within a 300 mile radius.

Sturdy and solid, clean, gorgeous mahogany wood, very light signs of age, the leather is in great condition, no scratches, mahogany wood also looks fine, light signs of use, some tarnish to the brass caps. I have to mention that on the back of each stand there are missing small pieces of wood 1 piece on one stand and 2 pieces on the other(pic. 12. English George III Chippendale Late 18th Century Mahogany Tilting Side Tea Table
Very Fine English Chippendale Period Highly Figured Mahogany Slipper Foot Tilt Top Tea Table Third quarter of the 18th Century. C. 1750-70 Item# 110005LHP25 The grace of this piece is found in the highly figured top. A single solid plank of mahogany hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A glowing deep patina shines through the years of waxed layers preserving the entire piece. Hand carved fully original cleats connect the top to the base, with four hand made screws that appear to be original, and two later replaced screws attaching the cleats to the original top. A replaced brass catch on the underside of the table top functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion; the shape of the original brass catch was circular, still evident as an impression around the current catch. The pedestal tenons through the square ... morebase. With the letters"DL" still visible at the tenon and in photos below. These could possibly be a signature of the craftsman who designed this table. The pedestal is carefully turned shaft culminates in a vasiform baluster, the three legs locking into the shaft with tight dovetail joints. The cabriole leg form is tight and sprung, the table almost poised to leap; the lines curve down and terminate in sharp well formed oval slipper feet. This is a fine piece for any home. Working easily in any number of design scenarios. In the upward tilted position, it is ideal to bring beauty to that empty corner or fill a long wall with two chairs on either side. Naturally, it functions wonderfully as a tea table or common side table, bringing elegance to any collection of furnishings. In very fine condition, with a deep glowing patinated finish and in a well preserved state, this is an outstanding find for the collector and designer alike. And about to pin it down to the workshop of Salem, Massachusetts' Nathaniel Appleton, we found several photographs in the Boston MFA's furniture collection of the works of an unknown Boston furniture maker. He made a very small known amount of furniture with this radiating spiral carved base component which is a virtual fingerprint in this case. This over the top game table has four monopause compounded legs with paw on paw carved feet. The bases' platform has large carved cabachons surrounding its base(with the aforementioned carvings) leading ... moreup to the column with a magnificant large carved budding bellflower. The column, base platform and legs are some of the most outrageous carvings we have ever seen on an early 19th century Massachusetts classical movement piece. They are so noteworthy& unique that we have spent numerous hours researching this piece. The game table's top has a fine figured mahogany apron with a carved center panel. The top lid and open surface of the table is surrounded by a thick banded inlay and all of its mahogany on its top is highly figured by a deep rich grain. The table has had a professional restoration and French polishing approximately 30 years ago. There was some shrinkage seasoning in the banded inlay. This was addressed during the restoration. Vintage mahogany Drexel New Travis Court dining table c.1950s
This Drexel dining table is part of a set that includes 5 side chairs and 1 arm chair. The table is solid mahogany with a banded edge and an unusual design. It looks like federal but the brass ended legs are almost modern looking-it just has beautiful lines. This table came to me with some water and heat damage on the surface of the table that was repaired by refinishing the top. The legs and bottom of the table have no problems. The table is not perfect but the top is pretty close. Which is a characteristic of solid wood. It can last a very long time. because of superior construction and materials, but can get scratched, dented, scorched, ect. throughout the years. It is so worth it, and the best furniture is the old furniture. The table and the 6 chairs are both for sale-so get both or use them separately. A division of Drexel Furniture, acquired to supply the American demand for high quality Danish furniture at that time. They made high end furniture in walnut, teak and blonde mahogany. The rarest most expensive pieces were blonde mahogany because of its unique beauty and rarity. This peice has been professionally refinished in its original color and looks the same as it did the day it was made. antique walnut mahogany tilt top table turned pedestal thick skirt period early
first off the pictures are really bad. The white spots i think are dirty spots on my lens that i can't seem to get off. at any rate, for auction is a wonderful early period piece. i expect it was made circa 1860 or so. it has a very thick skirt both high and wide. all original as far as i can tell, pegged together. tilts and locks perfectly. it is as solid as a rock and does not wiggle, wobble, creak, or move in anyway other that it is intended to do. the pedestal is a nice turned mahogany piece as well as the three legs. legs are drilled for casters but there are none in it, but it would require a short shank caster with sleeve. these are easy to come by should you want some. there is a large beaded molding along the bottom of the skirt. there are a few pieces of the beading missing but it is not noticeable. the top appears to be walnut, ... morethe secondary joist supports are oak i believe. it is not uncommon for these early pieces which are hand crafted to be constructed of several type woods. it is a wonderful piece. it is 30 inches wide and 29 inches tall without caster. any question please ask. i gave 700 for it quite some time ago. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck.

original antique empire mahogany work table two drawers built circa 1860-1870
for sale is a very nice early empire two drawer mahogany work table with history included. this piece dates to probably 1860 or so. inside the second drawer are dates of events which include a marriage. 2 death notices, and something else handwritten which is dated 1903, another date hand written is 1874. one death notice talks about someone passing at the depot while going after cattle. anyway, quite interesting. the drawers are hand cut dovetails with hand chamfered drawer bottoms which date the piece to 1880 or earlier. the legs are dovetailed into the pedestal and the front and back are mortised into the sides. a very well done and very sturdy little table which all appears original. the pulls are inserted with wooden dowels that are threaded. the casters appear to also be original to the piece. it is 20 inches wide, 15.5 inches deep, ... moreand it is 29 inches tall. it is in near mint condition save a couple of places where small pieces of veneer are missing. i could have replaced these without notice, but i prefer to leave things as found. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. i expect it can go postal, ups, or greyhound for probably 75.00 or less. good luck.
