It is typical to the late victorian era being made from a lovely mahogany and would look well in both an old or modern property in a small to medium sized dining room. The table can comfortably seat six people and between eight and ten people with the leaf in use. The table stands on its original castors leading to the most wonderful claw and ball foot that is at the bottom of a lovely queen ann style cabriole style leg. To the top of the leg there is also a wonderful carving. The legs are stunning. The top is in good condition with a lovely carved bull nosed edge. The wind runs smoothly and there is a leaf that is placed in the middle. The height is 74cm. The width is 134cm, 179cm with the leaf in use and the depth is 106cm. An old and dense tree was used for this table top, the whole surface shaped from two planks to span the total depth of 36 1/4" the first board is 31 1/4" wide, the second 5" The edge of the table top is reeded of the solid, completing the design of the top with clean lines that flow harmoniously with that of the legs. It is a tilting top, allowing it to be stored easily, usually in the corner of a room in a way that is visually delightful, the ... morethird leg pointing into the corner with the board facing the room. A stretched frame beneath the table forms a box of the crossbars, locking together using through-tenon joinery. Original screws lock this undisturbed frame to the underside of the table, holding the wooden dowels from the pedestal inside for a smooth rotation. The base of the pedestal is oak over pine, with the pedestal tenoned through both, the front with a pair of original brass receivers with what appear to be original screws. A wonderful turned pedestal of solid mahogany is designed with a short shaft over three tight turned rings over baluster turnings before flowing into sabre-legs. Each leg is capped with brass hardware, each with original screws over large original caster wheels. Offering a beautiful vintage Mahogany Dining table and 4 chairs. This is an oblong table with double pedestals ending in brass clawfeet. The chairs have been reupholstered in a tone on tone blueish green fabric. The are three side chairs and one arm chair which may seem odd today. But was the way some folks ordered their sets. The table measures 36" wide x 56" long w/o the leaf. One 12" leaf. The back of the chairs is 35" tall. There are a few very minor scratches on the top. Stunning set of six Chippendale ladder back chairs with a custom-made mahogany pedestal dining table. Included in the chair set are two arm or"captain's" chairs and four side chairs. Each chair had four elegant curved and pierced slats with a ribbon like shape. The front legs are straight and fluted and are connected to the back legs with a classic H stretcher. These chairs are believed to date from the late 18th century. The chairs are being sold as a set with a later pedestal dining table. Custom made to go with them. This rectangular table has tripod legs with capped paw feet in the federal or regency style of the early 1800's. The table top has a border around the top, beautifully applied in contrasting woods. Large Round Mahogany Dining Table - Ornately Carved Acanthus Legs, Lion Paw Feet
This may be the most beautiful table one could ever actually own. It certainly is worthy of a castle! In the years of our ownership I have watched for any similar table. With no luck. Because of this, we cannot make any estimate as to age or origin. It is not new, please see the pictures, which show the construction. Solid mahogany. Not veneer. Table top measures 66" across. The ornately carved legs spread to a width of 60" the scale is perfect. There is one seam in the top, at the 4' mark. The table seats eight easily. The table was refinished less than ten years ago. Removing several layers of paint and a floral motif. It was hand refinished, no vats of stripper. When we got the top clean and saw the seam, I worried that it was vulnerable, and had a patch installed by a master carpenter on the bottom across the seam. No doubt ... moreit was overkill, but it does now have a patch on the reverse of the tabletop- see pics. The underside of the table and the interior of the drum are shown so that you can see the construction methods. Please note that we did not strip the underside and it still shows some light cream paint. Each of legs. And the carved lion paw feet measure 6" across. The drum that they attach to measures 16" across. There are a few slight blemishes. Namely a series of pindots in the top center, about 1/2" across- just did not sand them out. Also along the"skirt" there are a few nicks, as seen in the photos. Other than those things. The table is in excellent condition. Victorian at least, am hoping that the EBay audience can see the extreme high quality and craftsmanship of the table. Top comes off. I did replace the original nuts. T his antique dining table is an incredible piece. Without the leaves it is a perfect 44” oval. Seating for four people. It has 5 leaves and can be extended to 10.5 feet. Easily seating 12 people. The 4 outer legs are very solid and are ornately carved and have reeded tapering. There is also a center supporting leg. All 5 legs have casters for ease in moving. The leaves fit into place by knobs and holes which show evidence of loving use. The table also shows evidence of being over 100 years old including several surface scratches. Small nicks, general wear marks. But overall it is a stunning piece. Included is a wooden stand for the leaves as well as tailor-made pads for each leaf and the 2 ends. The pads are approximately 25 years old. Show wear and tear and some of the connecting pieces are missing. But it is the table you are buying! This solid mahogany Jacobean style antique table and chairs have been in our family since 1970. Prior to our purchase the wealthy owners purchased it new sometime between 1890- 1930. The family I bought this table from used it as a dining room table NOTE: The condition is very nice overall; there is some nice dental work design on tables’ edge and an old fashion button to summon the help hidden under the table on one end· One draw was replace years ago by someone who knew what he was doing… as I understand. The original draw was smashed when it fell off a truck/ all the draw pulls however are the original ones that started life on this table· There has been a glue job done on the platform by an outside leg. It is sturdy and could use a cosmetic touch up; not bad I just mention this for accuracy SPECIAL NOTE: This table is sound and very sturdy– heavy/ You will need to bring a couple of guys to remove from my loft in the studio.
