Capable of seating six people comfortably when it is fully opened. The mahogany leaves are single solid boards with reeding along the edges that mirrors the legs, each hanging on original hand forged iron hinges to easily swing up and down. A flamed mahogany veneer completes the apron of the table. The table has six legs, an expensive feature that was time consuming and reserved for a more affluent client. It allows the table to remain firmly rooted while the leaves are extended, truly making it a fully functional dining table. The legs swing over knuckle joints formed of solid oak. In unison ... morewith the exterior of the table frame, this surrounding what appears to be pine secondary wood making up the inside of the table frame. These thick secondary woods are remarkably strong and allow the leg to remain in nearly untouched condition after nearly 200 years. The table rests over turned double-rings over sharp reeding, to terminate again in double ringlets over tapered feet. This is a very attractive example for collectors of American forms. Crafted in a distinct manner to that of John Needles. Needles is well known as an artisan with significant output in the Baltimore. Maryland area during the height of the American Classical period. Beautiful late 1800s early 1900s mahogany table with 6 chairs and three leaves. The table is 56" round without any of the leaves. Each leaf is 11" so extended the table is about 90" I bought this table on an antique buying trip in Baltimore in 1986. My mother. Who was an antique dealer, really loved this table and persuaded me to buy it. It has served us well and is in good shape. A few dings here and there but well cared for considering its likely about 120 years old and has made many moves over the course of time. Without the leaves, its round and easily seats 4 and will accommodate 6. With the leaves, it extends to easily seat 12 people. Good folding legs on the ends of the table for support when extended. Amish handcrafted solid cherry trestle dining table stained mahogany
This outstanding piece of furniture is Amish handcrafted in the USA in fact. It was originally purchased from a local Lancaster county Amish craftsman approx. 31 years ago. It is made of solid cherry wood(no filler wood) and has been refinished recently(also done by a local Amish craftsman) it has been stained mahogany. It is a trestle table with dowel pins measuring: 41"W x 79"L x 29"H with a 1 1/2" Thick top. I'm sad to see it go.but I have no dining room and my eat in kitchen. just isn't large enough for it(it has no leaves.or this wouldn't be an issue) It has been stored in our garage for the last 10 years and I just felt that someone needed to enjoy this gorgeous table.even if it can't be me. This is a very nice mahogany dining table made in USA. There are many ways you can use the dining table. It can be a small table or a small oval table which will seat 4 people. There are 3 leafs which go into the center you can use one two or three depending the size you need. To the top of the legs it has satinwood string inlay with round turned tapered legs. To the center there are two legs for extra support. You could also use this as a small console table then when entertaining put all the leafs in. Measurements are 74 long fully extended 38 wide. there are 3 leafs at 13 1/2 each leaf.39 1/2 high and when you take all the leafs out its 38 wide and 20 deep. A beautiful and unique American-made Henredon Mahogany Dining Table. The real deal Custom Folio One. A few scuffs here and there from age. But near-perfect condition otherwise. All sliding parts and latches work like new. French-style green pedestal base. Dimensions are 35"L x 42"W x 29"H when collapsed. The two 20" leaves expand it to 75" in length, oval. I bought this table for $300 along with my first house in 2005. Seats six chairs comfortably but can easily accommodate eight.
