38" MID CENTURY / DANISH MODERN OCTAGON INLAID PATENTED COFFEE TABLE BY LANE
Wonderful desirable Lane(See photo) Octagonal coffee/cocktail table in very nice condition. 38" across and stands 14" high. Minimal wear for 65+ years. Two small 1/2" chips on one of the raised hardwood ridges is for the most part the prevalent(See photo) The four crisscross legs are solid and each are splined in for strength and added look(Again, best guess, walnut into mahogany) Overall, I would give this table a solid 8+. This table has the possibilities, with some sweat equity, to be a 9.5+. Finally, It appeared to have been issued a design patent with the USPTO. Lane Acclaim Surfboard Walnut Coffee Table. Style 900-01. Almost Five Feet Long!
This is a beautiful example of the sought-after Lane Acclaim hand-crafted coffee table. Dovetailed design made with select solid walnut. Classic Mid Century/Traditional hybrid look that has remained popular for decades. Certain to remain a piece with timeless appeal. Table measures 56 inches in length. 14 inches tall and 19 inches deep. This specific table is in excellent condition. Legs are solid. Joints secure. Edges are without nicks. But most importantly the table top is, while not quite near-mint, in very very good shape for a table likely to be over 50 years old. The varnish has a wonderful lustre. Please see photos. The only imperfections are a couple of very small varnish flake spots that are smaller than a dime. Any photos with a dime in them are my attempt to show these spots. They are hard to spot. Up for sale is a BEAUTIFUL Lane Mid Century Modern Coffee table. This is an exceptional table. I believe it is oak. Inlaid with walnut, and burlwood, or possibly birds eye maple. I am not a wood expert so use your judgement. This table was made November 8th of 1958, so it just had its 56th birthday. I hope I look this good at 56. This table is in really nice condition. It does have some wear(scuffs. Scratches, nicks, etc) from use, expected with something this age, but it presents very nicely. The wear is very minor in my opinion, and are consistent with the age of the piece. It has a beautiful finish, that appears to be original, but once again use your judgement. I would say it could be used, and look wonderful, exactly how it is. but use the photos for ultimate description, they do better than my words, and condition is extremely subjective. ... moreAt most maybe a good polish, but I wouldn't say it needs anything at all.
