Antique Ebonized or Ebony Finish Plant Stand Pedestal
Item: Up for auction is this fully restored Antique Ebony Finished Plant Stand. This is not a painted item. But rather an ebonized finish. The top and base of the stand measure 14 inches across, and it stands 36 inches tall. The stand is very elegant, has has very intricate detailed trunings. The stand is very well constructed. The top and base attach to the column via a threaded dowel shown in photo#11. There are some minor imperfection in the stand. Photo#5 shows a dent in the side of the column. Photo#8 shows a small dent in the top as well as a slight separation in the top. These imperfections are very minor and do not pose any structural or functional problems for the plant stand. The terms restored and refinished are not meant to convey perfection. While the restoration process removes or minimizes imperfections, subtle signs of its ... moreage and use remain. 6 authentic antique brass and rosewood non ebonized clean tear drop drawer pulls
Sold as is where is. non ebonized rosewood and brass drawer pull Early to mid 18th century drawer pulls 6 pieces total( 1 pc. is smaller; 1pc. post is short with no nut) Dangling tear drop pulls were popular throughout the late Victorian era. Typically found on Eastlake or Renaissance Revival furniture. Drawer pulls are most commonly made of brass. An alloy of copper and zinc, a tradition that dates to the William and Mary period when round drop pulls were cast. These early round or pear-shape pulls were usually flat or hollow on the back and were mounted on a thin brass back plate that often was“chased” for additional decoration. Around the turn of the 18th century the cast bail handle appeared, attached to a drawer front with cotter pins clinched on the inside, similar to the earlier drop pulls. The ends of these early bails curved inward ... moreto complete the handle. Early in the Queen Anne period the bail was attached to posts with rounded heads that accepted the protruding ears of the bail which by now were curved outward. Hanging from the inner sides of the posts. This configuration lasted for most of the rest of the 18th century, reversing itself again for Hepple white pulls at the beginning of the Federal era. The Queen Anne post and bail hardware had a thicker brass back plate than William and Mary examples and the posts were often threaded to attach a crudely made nut on the inside of the drawer. Later Queen Anne and Chippendale back plates were not chased. The shapes became the main decorative element with Chippendale adding elaborate piercings. Early and mid-18th-century brasses were cast in a sand mold using a wooden model of the hardware to form the mold. Sand cast hardware often has“inclusions” from impurities found in the sand. The backs of flat sand cast brasses have the texture of the sand in the mold while the edges will show the marks left by a file as it was shaped and smoothed. Here we have a very Rare Victorian tilt top parlor table. It is a Folk art piece of two Victorian ladies dancing. They appear to be doing the"Bump" Dance. I don't know what they called it in the 19th century but they look to be having a very fine and happy time. The table has lovely Marquetry Inlay with many Exotic cut woods. The picture is so nice its hard to believe it si all inlaid wood. The artist signature is on the side below the dancers. Can't find the table in any furniture books as of yet. We don't know for sure about the original construction or history.If anyone has any history on this piece please let us know and we will share it with the new owner. This is a great mid century long bench or coffee table. The sides and the legs are ebonized and the top is solid rosewood. We have seen this attributed to Milo Baughman. But this is unmarked. It measures approximately 54" long x 16" wide x 14 1/2" tall. This is vintage and has been used, it needs some TLC. The top has a large stain which you can see in the pictures and it does have some bumps and bruises appropriate to age and use. If you have any questions feel free to ask. 4 massive. Matching, ornate furniture legs. Authentic circa 1870-1890. I believe they are solid walnut, but not certain. Built to support HEAVY load, probably 800LBS+. In profile, the legs are serpentine. Deep carving shows leafy fruits/nuts. Bottoms have ornate scrolls on an octagon base. If you do not have any obvious re-use for these, they are wonderful as wall mounted sconces. I have seen them hold anything from family photos to sculpture. They each measure 23 1/4 inches tall, 16 inches wide, and about 10 inches deep. They shows lots of age/wear with chipping. A couple have cracks at bottom octagon. However, still quite solid and in good overall condition. Many other salvaged Victorian artifacts listed. All questions encouraged and answered. I have up for sale a wonderful vintage original circa 1870s- 1880s Walnut Eastlake Design Umbrella Stand/ Walking Stick/Cane Holder. The stand features eastlake spoon carved lines which have ebonized geometric patterns. The pan is made of cast iron and is very heavy. The stand measures approx 39" x 16" x 10-1/2" It is in Excellent Original Condition- nice clean original finish- some minor light wear to the finish- no damages nor any repairs. I will take the stand partially apart in order to package. The bottom section and the upper holder section is screwed on from the back- the screws will be undone and the piece wrapped and set inside the box.
