Antique Maine? 1860 Forest & Sea Landscape~Oil Painting~Deep Ebonized Gilt Frame
Beautiful oil on board of forest on a cliff overlooking the sea. Stone steps lead up the hill through the pines. I have had many people remark that this reminds them of Maine. But it may be from elsewhere.the hills in the distance might provide a better locator to where this was painted. I've always loved the verticality of the trees and steps in the picture. Combined with the tall proportions of the frame. The deep frame gives a sense of looking through a window on this beautiful scene. The ebonized wood of the frame plays beautifully off the deep iron green of the pines. The frame dates to the 1860s-1890s. But I don't know exactly when the painting was done. 1860s in the title was my best guess.it may be later or earlier. It is most definitely old, and could use a light cleaning if you wish Frame measures approximately 12-1/2" ... morex 9x3/4" x 1-3/4" deep I cannot find any signature. The frame appears to be pine and is quite solid. The patina of the pine on the reverse is appropriate for the piece. The nails that hold in the painted board from the back are irregular. And look to be perhaps hand cut?

Description This wonderful Victorian frame stands 11" tall by 7" wide. And holds a picture 7" by 5. It is made from ebonized wood with carved patterning which is white and gold and reflects the aesthetic movement with an added oriental flair. The frame still has its original matting which is flocked or velvet in a mottled design. Once purple in color, it is now a warm brown and still lovely. The bezel around the picture is has tiny gold flecks. The back of the frame has an easel stand made from wire attached to black cardboard. It has either been shortened or came from another frame. It does stand well, though. The frame is holding a Victorian photo of a pretty young woman. The frame is in very good condition with minor nicks to the black. You are bidding on a gorgeous French brass frame skeleton clock with glass dome. Made probably in 1860-1870 time period. It is marked on the back of the gear plate which is covered by the bell and I cannot get a picture. Most likely Henri Marc of Paris. Etched brass frame and has two trains, one for time and the other sounds the hour and the half hour on the bell. Pendulum is lovely and etched also. Pendulum makes the gears tick but I cannot guarantee it keeps time; probably will need adjusting. Measures 16" clock, 19" from wooden base to top of clock; 8" across at base of clock. Has key thats winds well, probably not original. Dome appears old and is original to clock when we got it 20 years ago. Bought at a Paris antique market. Has blue Roman numerals. Paul Feher Art Deco Period Lacquered Ebonized& Parcel Gilt Screen Room Divider(Click to Enlarge) This Art Deco period screen(circa 1920-1940) features four lacquered panels with gilt decorations including trees and song birds. Plus feet wrapped in copper. Each panel measures 16" across and 72" 6' tall. We believe this may be a design by Paul Feher(1898-1990) Born in Hungary. Feher moved to Paris in 1923 and soon thereafter joined the studio of Paul Kiss. At the height of the Art Deco movement Fehér left Paris to join Martin Rose in Cleveland as resident designer at Rose Iron Works. After briefly returning to Hungary, he eventually settled for good in the U.S. He worked as a muralist on Long Island, and moved to Hollywood around 1935 where he achieved success as an interior designer. His clients included Douglas Fairbanks ... moreand Mary Pickford(he worked on their home, Pickfair) and Edward G. Robinson. He remained at his residence on Balboa Island, San Diego and continued designing elegant interiors for homes and restaurants in California through the 1970s. American Aesthetic Movement Ebonized Etagere! I have had this piece in my collection for about two years. I will endeavor to describe this as completely as possible and feel free to ask any questions but please remember I do not live on line and may not get back to you right away. These Aesthetic Movement pieces are frankly hard to find. This one is 58 inches wide. 10 inches deep, and 40 inches high. There is incised carving everywhere and THREE remarkable carved medallions. One on the door panel and one on either side depicting wildlife scenes. I have not seen a piece like this before and I've been collecting for years. If you want an aesthetic etagere this a good place to start. Because of its size it would work well in a formal parlor entry or formal dining room. The opening bid is set fairly for this piece and if you know Aesthetic ... moremovement furniture you know how much you would pay at a good auction house or dealer for this piece. KNOWN ISSUES: As you can see on the left side there was a break at some point on the top going through the left medallion and it was repaired but in my opinion should have attention by a good wood restorer. Antique Late 19thC Ebonized Wood Bracket Clock w/ Ormolu Bronze Roman Mounts
Up for bids is this Antique Late 19thC Ebonized Wood Bracket Clock w/ Ormolu Bronze Roman Mounts. This clock is made of ebonized wood and is covered with ormolu(gilt bronze) mounts. The ormolu mounts on each side of the clock are covered in leaves with a goddess on the top of them. The ormolu mount beneath the clock face is leaves and flowers with a mans face in the center. The top piece that holds the bell shaped piece of brass is also gold gilt bronze. The top finial depicts a Roman warrior that is holding a staff in one hand and a shield with a lions face in the other. The finial is also gilt bronze. The clocks face. The two finials, the bottom trim, and the four feet are all either brass or bronze. The clock case is in great condition with no breaks or repairs but the door is only held in with one screw but we still have the other three ... moreso it will be an easy repair. The clock is still running but I could not figure out how to get the pendulum to hang so I am not sure if it is keeping time. The clock comes with the original pendulum but no key but it will be very easy to replace. This piece stands 15" in height, 7 3/8" in width, and 5" in depth. Rare Ebonized Renaissance Victorian Pedestal Fern Stand Kilian Brothers NY
Another rare piece of Victorian style furniture this one out of my personal collection. I have never seen a model as this one is. A very unique version with four separate surfaces one of which is top elevated and the other three extending on arms with gold incised lines. The finish is Ebonized in a black lacquer and has some red painted incised lines and looks to be gold leaf in other places. A true museum piece that showcases the many dimensioned of the Victorian era. I purchased this from the Brown Mansion estate out side of Alexandria Va and the entire estate had a rich history. Absolutely wonderful condition and ready to display in your home. Its a large piece, kind of reminds me of the Star Trek Enterprise, measures out at 45"h 29" diagonal to any of the three arms.
