We are pleased to offer this exceptional pair of antique nightstands or side tables. This pair dates to around 1940. They are made of mahogany and have been painted white and distressed. The pair are elegant and sleek with a low profile. They feature a two tier design with open backs. They are French styled. Art Deco era, and have elongated lower sections with curved fronts. There have decorative square, raised wood pieces on the skirt of the lower tier. These have been left in the original finish to contrast with the paint. The legs are lovely in Duncan Phyfe style. The center leg column has also been left in the original finish. The table has ornate brass touches as well. There are lion face"door knocker" style pulls on each side between the two tiers. Double pedestal table with leaf. 6 chairs. 2 arm(not pictured) and 4 regular dining chairs as pictured. China Cabinent is in stellar condition. Hutch is large and deep and. A few scratches on one side and one on one of the drawers has a gouged area. Table and chairs are not as sturdy as the other 2 pieces but dont need work for usage now. I have had and used for 20 yrs. Apartment livin now and no room. As you see. The hutch can be used as a tv stand or dresser. Is deep. All nicely finished. A few dog scratches in the dining hairs. This is a good size Duncan Phyfe mahagony china cabinet circa 1940. The finish is original. It has a few nicks and scratches but can be cleaned and used like it is without refinishing. The cabinet measures 73" tall at the top of the center peak. 36 1/2" wide, and 16 1/2" deep. It is in one piece but the top display part is 41 1/2" tall, 33" wide, and12 1/2" deep. The bottom storage part is 36 1/2" wide, 31 1/2" tall, and 16 1/2" deep. The top display part has 2 glass doors and 2 adjustable shelves with plate groves. The top is of single board construction as are the leaves. The edges are reeded. Each leaf has two carved supports and three iron hinges. The skirt boards are dovetailed. The turned column is supported by reeded legs sitting on brass paw feet with brass casters. The bottom of the legs and column are strapped with steel and fastened with screws. The drawer has a craved out bottom for grasp. It never had a pull. It has hand cut dovetail joinery with a chamfered bottom. It has cock beading on the front and the secondary wood is oak. Own a piece of history with this statement making work if art! Circa 1940. Mahogany, dovetail joints, bow front style with original hardware. Duncan Phyfe style dining table 1940s era, 4 chairs
Purchased by my parents around 1940. Most likely from Marshall Field& Co. in Chicago. The top was refinished when it was moved to Naples, Florida. The legs have some scarring/scuffing, and the edges of the table have some scuffing. It measures 60"x42" and has 3 12" leaves. I also have the old padded top for the table. The table top looks nice but needs to be cleaned or dusted better. I didn't want to scratch it when I lightly dusted. The chairs have quite a few dings and scratches and definitely need to be recovered and cleaned. One chair shows the original fabric that was on all the chairs at one time. We have what we believe is a Duncan Phyfe dining room set. This set includes the table. Leaf, 6 chairs, China Cabinet, and a Buffet. The previous homeowners did not have room for it when they moved and it just does not go with our decor. The table has normal wear on the legs. The top of the table was always covered by a cloth and is in good condition. The pads for the table are available, but not in very good shape because they were in storage. There are six chairs, including the captain. The fabric on the chairs is original and not all stained. The hutch has small wear on the legs also. Few marks on the top of the buffet.
