An interesting piece with history. The folding glass doors were made by Drexel Furniture Company and still have the Company label and UL label attached as seen in photos. It is very likely they are original to when the Occidental Hotel was opened in 1915 or soon there after based on the style of the UL Label inside of the door. The door and insides came from the Occidental Hotel in Downtown Muskegon. Michigan. The Occidental Hotel was built in 1915 and was an area landmark of this old lumber town. The outer cabinet was built after the other pieces had been removed from the Hotel previous to the demolition. It has since been used as a display piece and conversation piece since then. Circa 1959- Superior Construction Mahogany- American Vintage Modern 68" wide. 19" deep and 32" high Superior construction. Exquisite detail and uncompromising form in a Credenza Sideboard assumed produced April 1959. We had an experienced wood worker look at this and he was fairly certain it was Mahogany. We have no firm attribution on this but have noted that Charak made sideboards using identical components that are featured on this. And even similar use of break fronts with lines for Tommi Parzinger. Drexel& Baker made styles like this. We have failed to ID it. The lengths that the maker went to on this sideboard is quite indicative of the best of the era and we have been unable to ascertain the maker. Piano hinges for the middle swing doors. Brass rods to prevent the doors from over-swing. Smoothest movement of the ... moremiddle drawer. Solid shelving and flawless drawer movement. Boasts 8 drawers and a large central area with sliding hidden drawer with extreme construction designed to take very large amounts of weight. All produced from solid wood. Note the use of banded wood on the top that travels around the breakfront. Based on the brass/bronze pulls used we are fairly certain this is the work of either Charak Modern or Baker Furniture however Dunbar and Johnsons furniture both produced similar sideboards with handle pulls that very closely resemble this one. 100% vintage condition with the mildest signs of use. The ball knobs seem to be made of milk glass or ceramic. There are three lights attached to the cabinet and all are in fine working order. The cabinet looks amazing when it is all lit up and guests will freak out over it, its so pretty! There are three drawers at the base as well as a dual door cabinet. The lower cabinet has a light within as well and it turns on when the right hand door is opened. So cool. The inside knob to the light has a chip off the edge, but it does not affect its function at all. This lower cabinet has press in doors, meaning you push the top upper corner to get each door to open. You can see where the finish is a bit darker at the pressing corners. The top drawer has chipping to the veneer at the left edge. I see no chips or cracks to the glass. The glass shelves are adjustable in position. Drexel Heritage Furniture Bakers Rack
This awesome Drexel Heritage Bakers Rack is the real deal. It's not your average Bakers Rack that you find on the market today made in China with cheap light metal. This one measures 54 inches wide by 76 inches tall by 16 inches deep. It was purchased new at a cost over $1500. It has four lacquered walnut shelves supported by a beautifully crafted pewter metal frame with brass accents. This piece was in the kitchen of our previous home where we had the top two shelves filled with clear cookie and candy jars. The second shelf is at waist level and has a large white marble slab inlay. There is a slight crack down the middle of the slab but it not very noticeable. Otherwise. This piece is in great condition. The bottom shelf is completely accessible.
