Stylized Renaissance five baluster pedestals base splits-opens in half to expose a middle baluster pedestal support(when opened table is extremely sturdy and comfortable for use) Four legs with decorative griffin heads and original casters. Hand carvings. Molded decorative discs and finials on base. Original iron catches underneath the base for locking it in the closed mode. Three leaves without aprons for easier handling and storing( somewhat usual for continental dining tables from the 19th Century as table cloth was mandatory element of decoration) Leaves grain matching the top perfectly. L 49 1/2" x W 41 1/2" e ach leaf 27 1/2" total Length 124" x H 31 1/4" Table has some wear and tear in the form of surface scratches. Also it has ... moreone nick on the table top edge. Table top opens per length rather than per width as usually tables do, so once the leaves are inserted the WIDTH becomes 49 1/2" and the total LENGTH with all three leaves inserted 124" basically length when closed- a longer measurement, become width when opened) Historicism is a nostalgic movement from the middle 19th Century and specifically in Germany it followed Biedermeier period. This was an era when French and Germans(I mention French as Germans looked to them and the British for decorative arts inspiration) especially yearned for the past with return of the Bourbons in France(Louis Philippe was the ruler) and German confederation awaiting the 1848 revolution with many monarchs in power. French Louis Philippe style is an obvious influence on this table but influence of Renaissance, Biedermeier and neo-classicism are also clearly visible. Up for consideration is a Vintage Mid Century Modern Dining table with 2 leaves. It has factory identification stenciled on the bottom of the table as well as on one of the leaves. The table measures 42 inches wide by 64 inches long without leaves. Each leaf is 18 inches which adds an additional 36 inches to length when extended. This brings the length up 96 inches or 8 foot. The table is very well built with rounded tapered legs which are conjoined by a curving horizontal base. The table is heavy well built and a fine example of quality craftsmanship. After an exhaustive search an exact example could not be found in the historical record. Although similar examples seem to look as if it may have been produced by Brown Saltman Paul Laszlo Design or Robsjohns-Gibbings for Widdicomb. Mid Century Dining Room Table with Leaves Teak Draw Leaf Table - Made in Denmark
See My Other Auctions& Store Items Up for auction is a mid century teak draw leaf dining table. The table is made in Denmark. The finish on the top does have some wear with light scratches and some other white marks. The frame of the table is solid and has no loose joints. The re are a few white paint rubs in various places that will come off with some cleaning. There is some colored paint or finger nail polish in a couple of places. The legs appear to have been mopped around the one pictured is the darkest of all four. The table measures approximately 35.5" x 55" and 28" tall. The leaves are each 20" to make the top 95" long. The sideboard is 66 inches wide by 39 inches tall by 22 inches deep. The set is beautiful for its age. However. Some touch up and/or conditioning maybe desired by the new purchaser. It's my belief that the upholstery is not original and has it some point been changed.

for sale a wonderful split pedestal antique quartersawn oak 54 inch round dining table that opens to 10.5 feet. it has very thick table glides and is solid quartersawn oak. No veneers. it opens and closes with the greatest ease. it has a center leg and a locking mechanism. you will not find better quartersawn oak i don't think in any table. the flake is very large. the pedestal is remarkable, huge claw feet and heavily carved knees that are high, deep, and thick. the table has one of the finest pedestal i have seen in this type table, it also has a carved collar above the legs the table is hastings quality or better. it is in near mint condition. i know of no carving missing or defects in the construction. it is very solid and does not wiggle,wobble,or move anywhere it is not suppose to move. i have 4-12 inch quartersawn oak leaves for ... moreit. when the leaves in place, the table is 8.5 feet. it could accept another 12 leaf, 2 would not work as you need a little space to get them together. 8.5 is big enough for most rooms, in fact too long for many dining rooms. there is a light dark place in finish on the top. the pictures make it look 10 times worse than it is. it is barely noticeable just looking at the table. it never bothered me, but it could be sanded out with ease. save this there is no other issues to report. it is absolutely a very fine table, heavy and thick, great carving and the best quartersawn oak in any table. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck.
