Antique Barley Twist Legs and Cabriole Feet Table w/Shabby Paint
This is for a beautiful side table. I was torn between labeling it Georgian or Queen Anne. But I think Georgian is most appropriate. It is made of either walnut or mahogany, but it is solid wood and has beautiful barley twist or barley sugar legs with a cabriole finish on the feet. It has a pretty serpentine shaped apron on all four sides and has been painted turquoise which mostly has been worn off except on the feet and apron. Over this old paint I have applied a nice French wax finish which shows the beautiful grain of the wood on the turnings of the legs and seals the finish with a dull sheen. The condition is very sturdy as I have replaced most of the little wood stays underneath and around the legs that keep it tight. There are two repairs. As pictured, one by me where I repaired a crack in the apron, and one by another that did the ... moresame, but felt the need to reinforce the seam with a metal plate secured to the back. So two characterized repairs and priced accordingly. Shipping will need to be by way of Greyhound. Which I am quoting at $50. Please disregard the USPS option in the listing-ebay does not have GH as an option. Therefore it will be necessary for you to pick this item up at a station near your home. ANTIQUE VINTAGE WIDE BARLEY TWIST TABLE PLANTER BASE FANTASTIC CONDITION! I’m assuming that this base was part of a table in a former life. I’m not sure of the wood species…the finish is a medium to dark walnut. I believe it retains its original finish…I simply cleaned it with some clear Howards and a coat of teak oil. On the bottom. Three‘feet’ adjust for level. The top has some old glue and the remnants of a cut-off bolt. In overall fantastic condition with just one repaired area(see pix) It stands 23.5”H; the base is 12.5” and the barley twist is 5.5”W(about 15” circumference) Unboxed weight is about 11 pounds. BTW.the first pix best represents the color. Please keep in mind that you pay what I pay in postage costs! A very fine antique. Circa 1890's, mahogany square lamp table with lower shelf. The top and shelf edge have a rope twist molding, the legs and stretcher barley twist. There are bronze finish white metal satyr masks with rings at corners, and bronzed finish white metal claw feet on wood balls. Table measures 28" square by 29-1/2" tall. Very good plus condition: nicely refinished, mahogany without chips or cracks. Metal with worn bronze finish. One satyr mask with loss(see photo. Up for auction is this fabulous antique side table with octagonal shaped top. 6 barley twist legs and a caned bottom shelf. This is an older piece, believe it is from the early 1800's, it exhibits an exquisite age-acquired patina, displays beautifully, though there are some age-related issues; there is an old repair to the table's top, 2 of the 6 legs are missing a decorative curved piece at the very bottom, it sits a little off kilter and is a bit wobbly-needs to be tightened. The bottom shelf is missing 3 of the pieces that sit in the small space between the wood's edge and the caned center and a piece of wood is chipped between two of the legs. The wood is beautiful- very dark, believe it is walnut. It's an unusual shape, the top is octagonal and the 6 legs are paired giving it a triangular shape at the bottom. Stands 18 ... moreinches high, the top is 13 inches by 15 inches. This has not been altered, stained or repaired by us in any way, will leave any restoration to the new owner if they should so choose. Very beautiful. Antique parlor table. Table is mahogany with a medium brown finish with definite reddish undertones. It features carved, barley twist legs and rope trim around the table top. The table has brass ball and claw feet. It is a two tier table with a lower storage shelf. The table is in good antique condition. The finish has had, at some point, a new coat of urethane and the finish is in very good condition. There are a couple of minor, cosmetic scratches that are not distracting nor severe. It has some scratches and one coffee cup mark and one of the rollers on the leg needs repair. It has one drawer which looks like its made out of tiger or burl wood. It has an octagonal top that has very nice trim work edges. It has classic English barley twist legs supported by crisscrossed stretchers. It stands 29 inches tall and the top is 19 inches wide by 16 inches deep. It is made from beautiful English Oak. It is good condition for it's age with no major issues. It does have a piece of the trim work that is a little ill fitted in one corner but I would not call that a major issue. I took a picture of that so you can judge for yourself. I purchased it with a load of antiques from England. I've tried to take a number of pictures so that you can judge for yourself it's age and value. This table and 6 chairs have been totally restored. All joints. Nicks, upholstery and repairs have been completed. The pieces are all solid English oak, the upholstery is new. The party I purchased it from advised their grandparents brought these items over from England. It appears the items are probably 100 years old. The four dining chairs and table were a set. The 2 high back chairs appear to have been made by the same manufacturer. The dining room chairs are 34 1/2" high 16 3/4" wide. The high back chairs are 44 1/2" high 17 1/2: wide, all seats are 18 1/2" from the floor. The table with both leaves extended is 54" wide when opened
