This is a very clean large oak trunk that has a variety of uses such as a blanket chest. Toy chest, or wonderful coffee table. It is made of solid oak with the original finish that has a nice patina and is finished on all sides including the back. The inside of the trunk has been painted red but can be stripped back to the natural oak. The trunk is 48" wide, 22" deep, and 24 1/2" tall. There is a piano hinge that opens the top. There is a lock but I do not have the key. The trunk was originally on rollers. Antique Oak Small Tavern Table Lift Top c. 1800's Hand Carved Dark Finish
Antique small oak tavern table. Beautiful dark finish and aged appearance. Arcade carving around the table skirt and turned legs in the vase-ring-and-bulb design. Carving looks hand done. Overhanging. Molded-edge top lifts on steel H hinges and reveals a storage space in place of the typical drawer. Legs are slightly splayed and connected by stretchers with a slight vertical curve. Unsure of the table's exact age, but based on the carving, splayed legs and hinges I would guess it dates from the late 1800's or early 1900's. It probably comes from America or Northern Europe. Overall. The table is very good condition. There is some wear to the finish around the edges of the top and the feet. There is also a darker spot on the top of the table, where an object was probably placed and the wood faded around it. No breaks or visible ... morerepairs. for auction is just about the best quality antique quartersawn oak dining table that you will find in it's price range. i have some tables that are from 8600 to 25.000.00, but they are horner or roux, meeks, belter, and the like. but for a table of it's class, they do not come much better. i listed it as hastings or better. i do not know the maker, but i can assure you that hastings never made one of this class in a finer fashion. it could be hastings, if not, it is as good or better. it is solid quartersawn oak, has a great form split pedestal with a hidden center support leg. it has a very very nice and very thick contoured skirt that is attached by screws and metal supports that slid into a groove on the table skirt. the top of the skirt has a molded edge which adds that special touch. the feet are fluted to match the great fluted ... morepedestal. anyway, a wonderful table to say the least. it is 52 inches wide and just at 30 inches tall. it has roller bearing original to the the table and center leg as opposed to casters. it opens up to enable an eight foot dining table. there are no leaves for the table. i am sure there were some at some point in time, but when i bought it,none were included. i can make some quartersawn leaves for my cost should anyone have an interest in that. again a great table. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck.

Presenting for auction a wonderful antique oak Conrey and Birely Table with Barley Twist Legs. It measures 24 inches by 23 1/2 inches by 15 3/4 inches high. This 100 year old table legs may have been shortened some time in its life. The table top is quarter sawn which gives that nice grain effect. As with antique furniture the wood acquires a nice old patina. I think the top and side profile has some nice furniture making detail that shows real craftsmanship. The table top has a few scattered surface burn marks. At the end of one of the feet there is a little wood loss(see pix) but it is to the inside. It needs a little polishing or cleaning. It is very sturdy! I can see some books stacking up on it now. Founded by Jacob Conrey and Charles Birely. The Conrey& Birely Table Company was established in 1874. It was the largest exclusive centre ... moretable and library table factory in the world and had over five-hundred employees.T he Conrey& Birely Table Company specialized in a knock-down table which included a unique furniture leg attachment patented invention. This allowed the company to produce furniture using“knock-down” construction. A simple method that required almost no tools or equipment. The company’s name changed to the Davies& Birely Table Company in 1901. When Charles Davies became president of the firm. The company ceased trading completely in 1909. Is is oval standing 28.5 inches tall, by 45 inches by 38 inches oval. Seats 4-5 comfortably and not too big or too small. We like it for its size and carved features. Would be excellent with a glass top, Has some scuffs as shown given its 100 year age. This is a very heavy piece and will require removing the top for transportation. Two people to lift top. The legs need some work and although the top has been refinished, it shows some spots that are imperfect. This table belonged to my husband's Grandparents. His Mother used to eat dinner on this table every night when she was growing up in the 30s and 40s(she is in her mid-seventies now) The bottom has a plate that says 1932. It's mechanism allowed it to be stored with the table when a leaf(or extention) was not needed. It was called"The Watertown Slide. France and imported to it's current location in Charleston, SC. This high quality solid oak furniture was manufactured somewhere between the 1900 and the early to mid-twentieth century. ~ Beautiful Antique Tiger Oak 5 Leg Dining Table w/1 Leaf ~ Up for your viewing is an awesome tiger oak dining table that I purchased from an estate auction about a year ago. I actually purchased two tables. One was round(which I already sold) and this one. They both had been stored in I believe an attic, for they were very dusty and dirty due to being stored for many years. This table appears to have quite a few layers of varnish or stain on it and when they stored it I believe they put a vinyl table cloth on it, the kind with the cotton or felt like lining and through the years of heat and the layers of varnish it has on it the lining somewhat stuck to the top of the table. When I went to clean it up the fuzzy stuff would not come off no matter what I did so we thought we would try a spot with some paint stripper and it come off. That is ... morewhy the spot is on the top. My intentions then was to strip it off and restain it but never had the time to do it and hated to see this beautiful table sit around and need the space so I am selling it as it is. As you can see on the spot that we stripped under all the varnish that was on it the grain is beautiful and on the leaf, it is the natural color. This table is on wheels except for the center one is missing. But I should have one somewhere around here that I will put on it if I do. Also there is a piece of wood that is off on one of the legs as shown in the pictures. Other than that it is very nice. Once it is restained or whatever one wants to go about finishing the top it will look awesome. The table measures 42" square x 30" tall without the leaf and 25-1/2" from the ground to the bottom of the table. The leaf is approx. 12" wide. I have provided several pictures to view. Please view them carefully and ask any questions prior to bidding or purchasing. I will be happy to answer them the best I can.
