There was some restoration work done on this piece at an earlier point in time. The table measures 50.5" length x 30" wide x 28" high. It is 22.25" to the bottom of the skirt. The top surface of this piece boasts an elaborate inlaid design made from satinwood/ebony and other veneers. There are carved and applied acanthus leaf designs on the front legs and there is also carving on the lower sections of the legs. The top is constructed of five boards. There is some slight separation that can be seen in the photographs. The stretcher on this has been re-glued and there are some age cracks on the legs. This is a fantastic old wooden side table. One side has faux leather books. The other side has a door that opens. There are small open shelves on both ends. Aged brass paw& claw feet and a beautiful brass pull. I believe this housed an old tube radio at one time as there are two round holes in the bottom for cords or wires. The books read, THE WORKS OF SHAKESPEARE, RADIO ART. The table is approx 27" tall, 24" wide and 15" deep. There is some minor damage to the finish, but does not really detract too much because the finish is speckled and busy. There is a tiny gouge in the bottom of the cabinet door. There are some minor spots where you can see the leftover paint residue that could be removed with a little elbow grease. ANTIQUE ART DECO c1926 AGED STEEL BRASS LEG LIBRARY OFFICE DESK TABLE ONE DRAWER
We are pleased to offer this wonderful antique desk. The desk is constructed of steel and has heavy brass(does not accept a magnet) around the bottom of the legs. The desk was produced by Art Metal and manufactured in Jamestown. NY. It is dated 11/26 in both the drawer and on the inner section of the desk. The desk retains the original, chocolate brown paint on the sides, front and the back. The top has no paint(maybe originally designed this way) and is a silver, steel color. Each exterior side of the desk features a large, stenciled, Art Deco styled medallion. I think this was probably added to the desk at some point and do not think it is original. It does give the desk a unique look, however. The desk was made for reading or writing. It does not have side storage but does have a large center drawer. A partial foil manufacturer's sticker ... moreis located inside the desk. In their most prosperous years, Art Metal won exclusive rights to furnish public libraries, offices, etc. with their noncombustible furniture. They made excellent quality pieces and this desk is a fine representation of their quality. The desk is in very good structural condition. It is heavy and quite sturdy. The finish has a general aged appearance(which I happen to like) The paint has peeled in areas and the top has some aged, rusted spots. If you don't care for the aged character, you could strip and refinish pretty easily. The desk measures 28" tall. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Antique library/entry table! This stunning, French or English inspired table, manufactured by the Knoxville Chair and Table Company dates to around 1915. It features French Country design with quarter sawn oak plank top, barley twist legs, and cane insets in the skirted sections. The oak ranges from golden to dark and the graining is exceptional. The table has a single large drawer on the front side with original, ornate, teardrop pulls. The sides and the back of the table repeat the skirted and cane inset design so the table is beautiful from every angle. The bottom of the table features braced legs and center stretcher bar. The table has the original flat screws and bolts still intact. The manufacturer's sticker is fixed inside the drawer and a partial sticker is still attached under the table ... moretop. The Knoxville Chair Company, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was founded in 1901 and closed in 1935. This table predates their"Art Deco" pieces which were much more modern looking. The table is in very good condition with very little signs of age or use. There is one hole in one of the cane sections(see photo 6) It is very hard to discern and certainly does not distract from the table. The table top is in good condition. There is one ring where a vase or something sat, but, because of the grain pattern, it is not glaring or distracting. The table has a more"oiled" finish as opposed to a varnished finish. Fabulous Charles Limbert Quartersawn Oak Library Table. I believe the finish is original as well as the hardware(obviously screws& washers have been replaced) This is not a claim I make lightly. Please see pics! Burned Limbert Arts& Crafts stamp on inside of drawer on the left. Measures 42” wide x 30” deep x 29 1/2” height. Condition: Pretty amazing. No cracks anywhere. It's a very solid. Sturdy, handsome construction. Flaws: On the top of the desk there is a spot on the right that is darker(see pic#9) where it looks like someone probably sat an ink bottle then tried to remove a bit of ink. It looks like it's been there for a very long time. It's not an eyesore but needs to be pointed out. There is also a very small gouge or nick on the right side(see pic#12) On the left leg there is a strange"mystery" spot(flat) ... morewith a tiny spot of paint next to it(see pic#10) Lastly. On the back edge of the top you see a little paint where someone put it up against a wall when there was wet paint(see pic#11) The inside drawer does have ink stains. If you'd like a pic I can certainly send it. Pic#6 is a close-up of the finish on the drawer(outside) to help uphold my claims of it being the original finish. I'm really just trying to point out anything I see as a flaw no matter how small. I've made no attempt to oil it or clean it with any chemicals. It has the oval design on the top, and scrolling ... morebeveled edge shape on the bottom shelf, four long cabriole legs that come down into an empire curl foot. Inside the 3.5 inch skirt is a dovetail drawer, right in the center, and it is of tiger sawn oak construction throughout. The overall size is 38 inches wide, 25.5 inches deep, and 30 inches high. The overall condition is good, and you can see where the solid top is laminated together, although it is very tight and sturdy. Has Pat September 25, 90 stamped on the brass ring. Cord& glass shade look to be period correct. The plug appears to be a new replica replacement. Glass shade does have small chipping spots that you cant see on the top rim where it is attached by the three knurled screws. Adjusts from 13-1/2" tall up to 23" tall. This is a beautiful Rosewood Regency period brass inlaid pedestal sofa/library table with a large drawer. Including original lockset and key! Purchased in London ~1952. It’s been in the family ever since with it’s unrestored. Original finishes and patina. Dimensions: 56" wide with leaves open(up) 36" wide with leaves closed(down) 29¾" deep 27¼" high Drawer: ~18½” wide x 22¾“ long x 2¼” interior drawer depth) Top and Drop Leaves- Fabricated with beautiful. Aged Rosewood the top and leaves are decorated with two lines of brass string inlay which includes four“8-pointed star” motifs in each corner of the two leaves and four scrolled inlays centered on each side of the top. The leaves are supported in the open position by lyre-shaped brackets(fly-backs? which have brass-inlaid 4-leaf motifs on the ... moreends. Brass string inlays are loose/bulging at various points. Although no brass appears to be missing. Table top/leaf edges are trimmed with rosewood with at least 2 small pieces missing. Top piece has some checking in the wood; the finish varies in glossiness in several spots; nicks; spots; and scratches. All typical for the age of an unrestored piece like this. Front. Back, Drawer, and Lockset– There is one large brass inlaid dove-tailed drawer complete with its’ original lockset and key. This drawer is nearly the full depth of the table and there is a“dummy drawer” face at the back(including a dummy brass inlaid keyhole) The front apron has two decorative raised panels to either side of the drawer with lavishly inlaid scroll-work. The back is the same design as the front. The underside of the drawer has a scribed line in the center of the wood( The l ockset works. But not smoothly. The key will raise the 2 lock pins. But will not retract the pins all the way down. Pedestal. Base, and Legs– The table stands stable on a rosewood-wrapped round pedestal and base with four sabre-shaped legs ending in the original“hairy-claw-foot” brass casters. Circa 1860- 1880. The desk boasts a dark green& gold tool leather rexine insert surrounded a by a rounded moulded thumb edge top. Below. There are 9 large working drawers to one side. The cock-beaded drawers have the original brass key escutcheons and original brass swan neck handles. All drawers and cupboard doors feature working locks and keys. For sale is an elegant 19 th century. Antique carved wooden oak pedestal table with an oval top supported by a profusely carved central pedestal. MEASUREMENTS: The tabletop measure 145 cm x 125 cm(57 inches x 50 inches) and is library height. GREAT CARVING: The legs and feet of the massive pedestal base are heavily carved with fanciful animals– it looks like winged griffins– ending in lion’s paws. The central part of the pedestal is carved in acanthus leaves. The top is plain. Has a thick carved band and even rounded apron and is as found(see the splits in the top where the pieces were joined together; it does not affect the use of the table, but for cosmetic reasons could probably be easily glued and clamped together to eliminate the cracks) The top screws on to the base. The 12 drawers offer lots of storage possibilities. But for me it's all about the style& décor. Nothing looks so awesome, authentic and enriching as these old office furnishings, with all their details of incredible quartersawn joinery& cast, aged brass. This is a nice piece of fine American Oak. These were the file cabinets of their day. But to make such a thing now would be an immense extravagance. And you can't fake this kind of character and lived-in feel of a fine old piece like this. But of course you can adapt card-file cabinets to hold every sort of smallish thing in very organized grids of drawers. The Tiger-Oak is awesome. This kind of dense. Spectacularly ... morefigured old growth White Oak is virtually extinct, if you found one of these ancient trees that were once ubiquitous in the Eastern Woodlands, it should be preserved as among the very last individuals of their kind. The hardware is all nicely sculptured cast brass and not thin stamped sheet. A very convincing piece, and very well made by one of the premier makers during the age of the gorgeous golden-oak offices& stores that we all pine for. The size of this one is great for an end-table. And it's gorgeously paneled on all sides so its meant to be freestanding and beautiful from every angle. Drawers are nicely dovetailed, finish is in decent shape overall, certainly very livable& lovable. Measures overall about 24-3/8" high. 30" wide& 15-7/8" deep. Drawers look all the same, we measured a sample to be on the outside about 5-1/2" high, 8-5/8" wide& 14" deep. Inside the drawers measure about 4-1/4" high, 8" wide& 12" deep. As usually. It measures 72" inches in length by 30 1/2 in wide by 30 1/2 inches tall. The table weighs well over 250 lbs. There are a variety of Masks and Mythological Beasts Cherubs all of which are carved. We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL. Antique French, Louis XVI styled parlor, library or accent table. This is a solid wood table and dates to the early half of the 20th century. The table has, at some point, been SKILLFULLY and ELABORATELY hand painted. White paint provides the perfect backdrop for the abundant, flower bouquets and ribbon trim, painted accents. The flowers range in color from red, pink, purple and blue. There are definite, artist brush strokes of contrasting highlights and shadowing. The painting is featured on the table top, the table skirt, the column and the legs. A very faint antique glaze has been applied in a few areas for more color depth. The table design is quite beautiful. It features a large. Circular top with a scalloped edge and 6 pointed corners. The top also has a subtle rope border, in relief, just inside ... morethe outer perimeter. The skirt is hexagon which provides a unique look sitting under the round top. The points of the table top align with the corners of the hexagon skirt. The column is generous with turned wood design. The base is tripod with large, cabriole legs and rounded feet. There is one drawer, located in the skirted section, with a French wreath drawer pull. This is a very beautiful table with exceptional artistic enhancements. STUNNING! The table is very heavy and sturdy. It is in very good condition with minor paint chipping in a few areas. The table is generously sized and measures 28.5" tall. The top is 31" in diameter. The legs are 28" apart. The drawer face is 14.75" wide and 3" tall. The inner drawer measures 13" wide. 11.75" deep(front to back) and 2" tall. Due to the size of the table.
