Antique French Renaissance Revival Library Walnut Table Desk 1800's
This is a genuine solid walnut library table desk with a walnut veneer top. It was made between 1850-1899. And was used in the Druillard Library of Madison, Tn. I know the history of this library and of this desk because 4 generations of my family went to this school. This library was part of a private church school where you could start out in diapers in the nursery school building and continue through all of elementary, junior high,high school and 4 years of college in one school. The library was shared by all. It got the name Druillard from a lady whose name was Charlotte Druillard, who gave the money to the school for the library to built close to the turn of the last century-1900. She was the wife of the man who founded the famous Belmont College and University in Nashville. Both of my parents went to this school who met there and married. ... moreIn the mid 1970's the school thought the library building was too old and needed to be torn down. My father(who was very sentimental) purchased this table from the library. He immediately loaned it to the school alumni association to place in their entry way. It remained there until Oct.1985, when after my father's death, my mother asked for it back. She gave it to me for my home. I have used it as a desk in my home since 1985. It has been well taken care of and is in excellent condition. A quality made piece with two drawers across the front. Not a lot of wood carvings, but a beautiful design though a more simple elegant piece to look at that is also very practical. Large in scale and has a variety of potential uses. The measurements are: 54 1/2"long x 32" wide x 28" high. It is finished on all sides so it can be placed in the center of a room.There are two dovetailed drawers that go across the front of the table, that slide in and out easily. Don't expect antiques to be perfect; the charm, character, uniqueness they have gained over the years and the stories they tell are part of the attraction. Comes from a smoke and pet free home. Made from a lovely dark walnut wood and covered with a red leather writing surface. This desk is quite the find! Two easily opening drawers provide some storage in this desk. They are constructed with hand cut dovetails which are a sign of authenticity and quality. Each drawer ... morefeatures a unique brass handle. Locks are present but there is no key. Four turned legs are connected via a lovely turned stretcher which adds beauty and stability to this antique writing desk. Four brass casters at the bottom provide the ability to roll the desk short distances. One of the more unusual and attractive feature of the desk are the quarter round accents on the sides of the desk. Just under the top. Fluted lines can be found on these accents, the drawers, and all over the legs and stretcher. This fluted line style was one of may used in the Victorian period. This desk was originally made in England around 1890 and is rated in good condition. It is sturdy and stable. There are numerous dings and dents throughout the top and drawer fronts of varying sizes. None of these are more than cosmetic and to most people they serve to add character to the antique writing desk. We have tried to include pictures that give a good sampling of these marks. Antique Marble Top Library/Hallway table
This piece is a wonderful. Delicate marble topped table. It measures approximately 30 inches high, 20.5 inches in width and 29 inches in length through the largest points end to end. Its beautiful beveled top is fairly heavy and does lift off and is not fastened to the wood. The legs are intricately carved. The piece is an antique piece owned by a lady who passed away over 30 years ago. The piece has been stored in a warehouse over the years, but shows very little wear and tear. There are possibly some small imperfections on the wood, but it is in good condition. I am not a wood expert but it appears to be cherry wood. Nice color. Sorry. Local pickup only. Rare and Unique antique. Up for your consideration is a library table made by Umphrey Manufacturing of Crawfordsville Indiana. Umphrey was in business from 1916 until 1936. There is very little information about this style of table on the web. I was only able to find one other Umphrey Table like this. And it was sold at an auction house in New Jersey back in 2002. The link is not allowed, but you can search Rago Arts and Auction Center in NJ and search for Umphrey within their site. It is the 24th entry. The refinished table was found in a barn where it had been sitting for years. There was no rot, but the laminate top and on the legs could not be salvaged. I removed the laminate and sanded and stained the exterior of the desk. I did not do any refinishing on the drawer or letter tray for fear of damaging the silkscreened birds and the Umphrey ... moreLabel. When refinishing, I tried to keep some of the character of the 90 year old desk. It has some of its blemishes, nicks and scratches still, but it looks amazing for as old as it is and as bad as it was. The desk measures 28" deep, by 44" wide, by 29" tall with 23 1/4" of legroom. It weighs about 70 lbs which is over the shipping limit offered on e-bay, so shipping will need to be thought out before you bid. I will deliver within 100 miles of Madison INDIANA for $150.00. This table has beautiful quarter sawn tiger oak wood. It measures 36" X 24" and stands 29.5" tall. This table has a manufacturer stamp in the drawer by its maker. The Brandt Cabinet Works, Hagerstown, Maryland. The pedestal supports are smooth lined. It is a family heirloom, belonging to my grandparents. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Antique library or console table. This is a stunning,old table and dates to the 19th century. The table features ornate and intricate Eastlake and Gothic details. It is angular(triangular) and features carved wood, floral appliques on each corner of the table top. The top is skirted with unique, curved crosses" which have been hand incised. There are lower, carved, keyhole corner supports which rest under the skirt at the legged sections. The table also features small, turned wood spindles which attach to turned wood, upper stretcher supports. The legs are carved and flared and are flat as opposed to the more traditional, rounded legs. They, too, are hand incised and feature delicate scrolled designs. There are 3"inner legs" of turned wood. These do not extend to the floor and have spooled ... morefinials at their ends. A carved and incised, bottom stretcher support is attached at each leg. This is a very unique and striking table. It is gold gilded(gold leaf) over red and the red color does appear throughout. The table appears to be oak and it is sturdy and heavy. It is in good, antique condition. It does have evidence of age and use. The table top does have water rings and surface scratches that penetrate the gilded finish. There are some missing pieces to the corner appliques on the table top. These do not distract from the beauty of this table but, rather, enhance its antiquity and character. This beautiful old table is solid and extra-long. Based on its construction, I’m guessing that it’s around 100 years old. I have found no identifying marks. Overall Dimensions: 95 ¾” x 41 ½” x 30” L x W x H) Table Top: 93” x 39 ½” Distance from floor to bottom of the frame: 24 ½” Weight: 163 lbs. Each of the 4 massive legs is made up of 3 or 4 pieces that were glued together before being turned. The leg diameter about halfway up is 4 ¾” And the foot diameter is 5 ¼” There are a few scratches on the top. As you would expect to find on a table that was used for decades. Table measures 30 inches high and the top is 44 by 26. Flower wood appliqué on corners. Legs are a fancy spiral that ends in an impressive scalloped ball then a smaller. Smooth ball which holds the metal caster with wood wheel. Photo with soda can for size perspective. One drawer, measures 21 inch across has a brass pull. Top, shelf and drawer face are 1/4 sawn oak. There is a slight discoloration on table top. See photo. Finish is in good condition with a rich, warm patina. We purchased this table with this finish. Perfect table for a foyer or anywhere you want to have an impressive accent table. We have enjoyed this table but have to send it to a new home, due to downsizing.

Antique Wolverine Oak Library Table, 4 column Empire style, America
This is a solid oak library table. With no veneer, no plywood. It measures approximately 42" x 26" x 29" high. The drawer measures approximately 22" x 21" It was made by the Wolverine Manufacturing Co. Detroit, Michigan which was organized in 1887. We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL. Antique, dining or library table. The table is solid wood and has been beautifully and artistically refinished in paint. The table features INTRICATE carved details on the top perimeter. There is an outer, pie crust" pattern along with a center veined leaf design. The inner border design features a carved/incised rope or barley twist accent. The table top is finished in a black crackled paint with silver paint applied to the leaf and rope patterns. The table pedestal is substantial in diameter and is accented with large, carved acanthus leaves. The table has four legs which are prominently curved. The legs possess carved acanthus leaves on their exterior profiles and carved scrolls on the interior. The legs are completed with wood, ball and lion paw/claw feet. Again, the base, legs and feet are ... morein black crackle paint. The acanthus leaves and scrolls are finished in silver. The table top is uniquely supported underneath with a boxed design support. The center box fits perfectly onto the table base and is secured with two long wood screws. This is a FABULOUS table. Because of the paint, I cannot tell what type of wood the table is made from. Judging by the weight, it is probably oak or walnut. The painted finish has been BEAUTIFULLY done(not by us) and the table is quite gorgeous. The top appears to be designed for a glass cover to fit just inside the carved borders as this area is recessed/lower than the carved area. There is no glass with the table, but a piece could be purchased to fit into the relief area. The table is very sturdy and in very nice condition. Antique French Marquetry Inlaid Occasional Center Writing Desk Library Table
I wish I could take pictures that do a little bit better job of showing the color and minute detail in the inlay work performed on this piece. So. Try to use your imagination. The table is nicer then the pictures reflect. To be sure as to rather or not this piece is from France or American made I cant be positive. However, I have been told it is French and over 100 years old. For sure this is the best inlay work I can remember seeing including the mother of pearl laid in place throughout the piece. Dimensions for this table are 38 inches length, 26 inches width, 29.5 inches height. It will add to any home or office decor.

54103 ANTIQUE 1890s CARVED QUARTERSAWN OAK LIBRARY TABLE W NORTH WIND PULLS
A beautifully carved antique. Circa 1890's, Renaissance Revival quartersawn oak petite library table. The front two drawers have prominent north wind type pulls, the reverse with a faux north wind. The legs are partial spiral carved, with baluster cross stretchers, the bun feet on casters. It measures 31-1/2" tall by 42" wide by 28" deep. Very good condition: original finish, carvings and case without chips or cracks. There are three top boards, one of which has a butt joint separation to the other two, and with varnish chipping along that line, some minor stains or a ring spot to the top. Drawer interiors in plain maple, the bottoms chamfered.
