Nice Antique Hand Pegged Dry Red Color -- Dinning or Kitchen Tavern Table
This is a Great Pegged Antique Country Tavern Table in a Very Usable Size at a very Reasonable Price. The legs are chamfered with a nice bead along the worn stretchers and table skirt. The piece is all hand pegged. Mortise and tenoned together, the drawer is hand dovetailed with square headed nails securing the back with an old lock. The top is pegged to the base. The base has a dry old dusty red color while the top has a mellow brown color. It's great for a small dinner party or for use as a small kitchen island or other work table. It stands 28 1/2 inches high with the top measuring 47 by 31 inches. The piece shows use with worn stretchers, splits in some of the pegged joints, and the top has a small 2 inch by 2 inch patch(see photos) a split and burn mark. This table has been are family for over 50 years and has not been used for long time. Time to go! I stripped layers of house paint from the table approx 25 years ago and varnished it with light coat clear coat. Looks like it's the original varnish, I was young and not real experienced with refinishing wood but has the antique original look. Has the original scuffs and scratches under the varnish on top, underside old paint remains can be seen. Few screws where replaced on hinges. I believe this is oak but will not guarantee it, not expert on wood. Heavy table for size. Measures approx. 42" wide with leafs up x 36" deep x 30" tall. The age of this light is unknown The person I purchased this from told me he got it out of an old victorian house in downtown Sacramento CA. The center lightbulb is burned out. Very good condition, The shaped legs of this antique draw leaf dining table are a Queen Anne style and sometimes called cabriole legs. They are quite attractive and are hard to find on a draw leaf table and even harder to find with such an elegant stretcher between them. Originally this table was made in England sometime around 1920 and is made from solid mahogany wood. The mahogany has aged well and displays a wonderful patina that everyone will enjoy. One ... moreeither end of the table is a pull out draw leaf extension. These leaves each add 14″ to the length of the table and can be pulled out independently of each other. This gives you the option to have the table 42″ long(closed) 56″ long(one leaf out) or 70″ long(both leaves out) As previously mentioned. The Queen Anne legs are a real treat to find on this table and even more spectacular is the elegant X-frame stretcher joining them. The X-frame is nice because it doesn’t interfere with chairs while adding strength to the table. Their gentle sloping shape mimics and compliments the cabriole legs. This table is in very good condition. The finish is excellent and the table is clean and ready to be used immediately. The draw leaves pull in and out easily. Nice solid antique table. I believe is Mahogany wood. I believe it dates from 1920-1950. Very unique thick, chunky spindle legs. Some splits in the legs but does not affect the sturdiness of the table. Doesn't have the leaf to extend it. Beautiful carvings around the edge, some small pieces of veneer missing from the top but is not noticeable. Starting the bidding out low for this gorgeous table but have no reserve on it. Incredible work of art.steampunk. Industrial desk, loft furniture,work bench, table, machine age, reclaimed wood. Perfect as a sideboard. Kitchen island, desk, workbench, table, bar height table I was given the chance to salvage anything I wanted from a small barn that was going to be demolished. The barn was right here in my home town of Fox River Grove. Illinois. This workbench was one of many treasures I acquired. It was in rough condition when I rescued it. I knew I could restore it to full glory. I think it came out spectacular, however you will be the judge, perhaps it will speak to you like it does to me! This is built like a battleship. The industrial grade frame is fantastic, it reminds me of a steel bridge.with the large rivets and big bolts&nuts.A few of the nuts are missing below the top, it has no effect on strength.there ... moreare so many other bolts&nuts holding the top in place, as I said built like a battleship! The top is 3 1/4 inches thick. Made of a total of 3 layers of wood. Uner the 3/4"thick oak strip top are 2 thick layers of planks, the front and side edges of the piece are covered in pine. I love the incredible patina of all of the wood including stains. Nail& screw holes, oak pegs, pinholes, orange-ish stain area on left side of top, there is even an area on the front left trim where the wood was charred from being burned(it is sealed with varnish and looks great)no doubt a torch was used to repair/weld something.The top has some waviness/wear as you would expect with age, it just adds to the wonderful character. The patina is second to none.patina like this can only be created by years& years of use and hundreds of projects being done on this bench I restored the entire bench by hand. I added some of the solid oak pegs in the top to seal old holes. The entire bench has been hand sealed with varnish. Everything including the underside of the top. The entire metal frame has been sealed, making it easy to wipe clean. the top was sealed with many, many coats of hand rubbe
