This Rhode Island Sheraton solid mahogany rope carved drop leaf table was part of the original furnishings of an in tact early 19th Century Rhode Island estate which we have purchased the main body of its entire furniture collection. One of the finest rope carved drop leaf mahogany Sheraton tables we have had the pleasure of handling in several years-this table has a one board top and drop leaves. The ends of the table are made from solid figured mahogany with carved moldings. It flows into four of the finest rope carved legs we have ever seen terminating into original delicate pivoting caster wheels. The table is in an exceptional all original condition. It has a super mellow patina and appears like it has spent its life in a time capsule. It is 18 3/4" long with its leaves down and 40 1/2" with the leaves locked up. It is 35 3/4" wide and 20 1/2" tall. The rope carved legs(rope carving symbolizing the families fortune was made at sea-as is the case here) have carved rings at their tops. Transitioning into balls than graceful taped rope carved legs. The table has all its original glue blocks and everything a Sheraton furniture collector could possibly ask for. Made in England. Circa 1960 Mahogany Single pedestal Minor marks to top Repaired leg, This beautiful antique style mahogany pedestal drop leaf table was crafted in England around 1960. Over the years. The mahogany has developed a lovely patina that contributes to its rich grain and lustrous complexion, which should only continue to grow more beautiful with time. We refer to this style of table as the Regency style due to the nicely turned pedestal and the fluted and splayed legs. The feet are a brass claw foot and caster. Because this pedestal table is also a drop leaf table, it is very versatile, perfect as a side table, hall table, serving table or dining table. The convenient pedestal design also means that this drop leaf table has a sturdy base and legs that are not too intrusive. Obviously this table has been meticulously cared for over the years as it remains in very good condition today. The drop leaves function smoothly. The leaves are supported by a swing out wooden arm on each side. There are some very light marks and scratches on the top. But these do not detract from the overall beauty of the table. One of the legs has been broken and expertly repaired down by the feet, we have included pictures of this repair. It is sturdy and strong. The table is 24.25″ x 32.25″ with both leaves down and opens up to 48.25″ x 32.25″ with both leaves up. A wonderful find that would go great in any home or as a small conference table in any office! The base is folding and fashioned of a metal, faux bamboo. The finish is unique with a black and brown, cheetah type pattern. The base has suction cups for the tray to rest upon.
