without a doubt this is one of the finest thomas day tables i have ever owned. i have had a few of them and always sold them for a decent price. i have had a couple of swivel top game tables go for better than 3000.00 and just recently sold a tilt top day table for around 1800 i believe it was. A rather small table but as all of day's pieces, it was built to perfection. if you don't know about thomas day, you should google him, very interesting reading plus informative as to the quality of pieces he made. at any rate, i have for sale the only drop leaf game table by day i have ever owned and i must say it is as nice as any as i have owned. martin terry also a black man and an expert on antique furniture assured me that this is a day table. when you look at this table you can not take your eyes off of it. it has by far the finest mahogany ... moregrain i have seen on any furniture piece. it has a wonderful acanthus carved pedestal that is supported by expertly fashion legs that are mortised in and finally sits on very nice and proportional size claw feet. the table could be used as a drop leaf kitchen table, but the drawer which is hand chamfered and has hand cut dove tails is a drawer for poker chips, cards, and other games. it has 8 compartments. the table is very heavy and extremely well made. note the leaf supports, two on each side which are mortised into the table skirt with expert tooling work. also note how the legs are mortised into the base of the pedestal to perfection. the table is a great and convenient size, when the leaves are down it is( the center section alone0 24.25 inches wide and 39 inches long, and stands 28 inches high. with the leaves up it is a bit over 44 wide, 39 inches deep, and 28 inches high. this table you just want to stare at and rub your hand over. the finest grain ever and feels like satin glass. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyers expense. i can help arrange for shipping should anyone need help there. note, i just went over it with furniture polish but i see i fa

The top is of single board construction as are the leaves. The edges are reeded. Each leaf has two carved supports and three iron hinges. The skirt boards are dovetailed. The turned column is supported by reeded legs sitting on brass paw feet with brass casters. The bottom of the legs and column are strapped with steel and fastened with screws. The drawer has a craved out bottom for grasp. It never had a pull. It has hand cut dovetail joinery with a chamfered bottom. It has cock beading on the front and the secondary wood is oak. This has two tiers and very nice waved draped leaves that match the cute legs. 28 1/2 inches tall, 43 inches long, 21 inches wide leaves down, 40 1/2 inches leaves up. The wheels roll so you can move it easily.

All three leaves boasting a perfect glowing golden mahogany waxed surface. The top and leaves are fully solid single mahogany boards, with no veneering or joining. Each leaf has cropped corners, lifting on original hinge hardware, with a rotating wing that smoothly glides out to solidly support the upraised leaf. There is a single drawer, outlined carefully with satinwood string inlay running below it. The drawer is hand dovetailed, front and back, ... morewith a hand planed and chamfered bottom. up for auction is a fantastic period mahogany drop leaf table. the center board is one board. Each drop leaf is one board. the table has slide mechanism to hold the drop leafs up. they work well and are of wonderful design and construction this is a very early piece and is all original as far as i know. it is very sturdy. Does not wiggle or wobble or have any loose parts. the pedestal is inserted into the top support board and has soaked and wooden wedges placed all around it to keep it in place. i doubt that you could beat the pedestal out of it's position with a post mall. very very solid and sturdy. the legs are strong and do not wiggle or wobble at all and they have small wheels on the bottom. they are not warped in any way. the table opens and is level and the slides hold the leaves with no swag whatsoever.anyway. William and Mary Period Oval Gate Leg Breakfast Table Late 18th Century. England; one leaf replaced, feet probably replaced. Item# 120008SMT11 This is a table of unusual form with a simply gorgeous oval oak top. Each section of two solid golden oak boards covered with a wonderful wax finish, the leaves lifting to flush on ruled joints. The leaves have original 18th century hand forged hinges, though we suspect at least one of the leaves is replaced(see notes below in condition) The frame is pinned tenon-mortise construction over intensely ring-turned legs, each stretched permanently by a box-form stretcher, from which the gating leg on either side swings freely on a through-dowel peg. The legs swing very easily and smoothly to support the leaves, each with the correlating scrape marks underneath. It is an excellent piece to match any Colonial ... moreinspired decor. While having an overall petite proportion that is very desirable in a table of this nature. This is not a museum quality work in light of the feet and leaves, but is an outstanding find for the designer and anyone looking for a deeply patinated colonial table for a rustic interior- in wonderful condition for a work crafted over 250 years ago, this will be cherished in your home functionally and decoratively. Measurements: closed) 15" deep x 33 1/4" wide x 27 1/2" high(open) 44" deep x 33 1/4" wide x 27 1/2" high Condition Report: 1. Finish is well preserved beneath a later wax finish- the finish beneath the wax is very early. Probably not original 2. Feet are possibly replaced- they are affixed to the legs. But have a very natural wear- however, the softwood(presumably pine) nature of the feet also suggests possible early replacement 3. Drop leaves are possibly replaced; at least one is certainly a replacement. Note the second cut for an earlier hinge and the slight mismatch between hinge size and cut slot. The leaves are both certainly 18th century, and there could be an argument made that the empty cut slot was simply a mistake

Rare American Chippendale Antique Table, Single Drop Leaf, Ball & Claw c.1770-90
Rare American Chippendale One Leaf Table American Black Walnut w/ Shell Carved Legs on Ball& Claw Feet Probably Connecticut River Valley. C. 1770-90 Item# 130309GZP24 A fine work of the American Chippendale period. This is an exceedingly rare form. Termed by Wallace Nutting a"Sideboard Table" the form is generally recognized as a One Leaf Drop Leaf Table, a piece intended for display against the wall with it's exposed apron facing out. As such, the front two legs are highlighted with beautiful raised shells while the rear legs are unadorned. Crafted of what appears to be[not micro-analyzed] an American Black Walnut of well selected flowing grain. The top board and leaf both display a wonderful ribbing at the center surrounded by wide flowing veins; similarly in the apron and legs, the veins are large and run in distinct ... morechannels in a way that enhances the cabriole of the leg and does not distract from the scrolling scallop of the apron. While single leaf drop-leaf tables are predominantly found in Massachusetts. This table exhibits every indication of being of Connecticut craftsmanship with the distinct influence of Delaware River Valley tradition in it's construction and form. The sides of the apron are recessed, the inner edges of the leg posts being thumb molded and flanking the inset apron and knee returns, clearly reminiscent of Philadelphia treatment of this leg[see Kugelman. P. 136, fig 3.5 for a discussion of similar features on a dining table with East Windsor CT provenance and likely origin] Likewise. The pinned tenon-mortise joinery in the frame and legs is borrowed from this region. The intensely scalloped apron exudes grace and liveliness with a repeating lobe flanked by a half step[for similar apron treatments see Kugelman. P. 88-91- those documented of Wethersfield, Connecticut craftsmanship] The purity of the craftsmanship is representative of a very accomplished artisan; every detail is perfected. For sale is a antique Duncan Phyfe Drop Leaf Table. It has 2 nice leaves that extends to a 8 foot table. Has the original Duncan Phyfe brass Claw feet covers. It is in very nice condition with only a few light scratches. I am not sure of the type of wood. Maybe Mahogany is my guess. Lots of nice wood carving on the legs. It fold down to a 2 foot table. I was told this is a tea table. It has a tilt-top or drop leaf. When the table top is raised it locks into place. It shows wear from years of use and has a nice patina. I don't see any damage or repairs. It is marked Mahogany and I think the maker's label or store label says T ENN for Tennessee(see photos) What I really like about this table is that it has a cross bar at the top for carrying. Two standard size side chairs can slide underneath on the ends with leafs down. With both leafs up it can seat 8 comfortably, 10 possible. There is one watermark on a leaf(see pic 4) And the top of one leg has some splitting that needs repairing(see last pic) Other than that there are some light scuffs and scratches, normal for a table of this age. Rescued from a demolished farmhouse this table is quite old. And has a lot of patina. 21"Tall. Base is 20" x 10" Top if had all 3 leafs would be 24" x 21" Hinges arent origional.
