Here is a great looking Zenith console radio. It's a model 9-S-369 from 1939 and is a rarer cabinet style. It's a big radio and really gets your attention. Features the famous black shutter dial. Also known as the robot dial and automatic tuning. It also has the green eye tube for tuning. When switching bands the dial opens or closes to show just the numbers on that band. It has AM and 2 short wave bands. Also has radiorgan tone control, a panel of push buttons to set tone to your liking. The 8 buttons on left are station presets, the 8 on the right include 2 for on/off and 6 for tone control. All the buttons and tabs are reproductions. The Cabinet was refinished using stain, toners and lacquers that show off the beautiful grains in the veneers, reproduction grille cloth was installed. Shutter dial has some crazing in the paint. One ... moreveneer chip was repaired on top, it had some splits in veneer at bottom that have been repaired. Speaker has a tear but could easily be repaired. Chassis is clean, missing a couple of tube shields. Tuning knob is warped. Radio is untested, will need to be electronically restored and a new dial belt installed. I know it's hard to buy a radio like this unseen so I have included many large detailed photos below, I will also be happy to answer any questions you have. Due to the large size of this item it is pickup only, it's located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Superb antique art deco (arts & craft?) footed console bowl, gilded and etched
This is a beautiful bowl! My taste- and what little knowledge I have- tend toward mid century modern. But this is a rare higher-ticket item I loved and had to have. I have enjoyed it for several years, and now it's time for something different. I'll try to make up for my lack of knowledge with as clear a description as I can muster. The bowl has a fluted shape. Widening out to 11" diameter. The edge is gilded and floral. The body of the bowl is etched in an elegant art deco- chevron-looking design- or is it a spare arts and crafts floral and vine? Offered for auction is this uncommon Zenith model 750 console radio from 1934. The radio is almost complete with the only thing missing being the right(dial) escutcheon which can be readily found. The cabinet has a nice original finish and its only flaw is a 1 1/2" piece of veneer missing from one bar of the grill. It has beautiful relief carved decorations across the top and on both front feet. It is solid with no indication of loose joints. It has both of its original knobs. The grill cloth looks like it may have been around a cat as it has several small pulls and tiny holes(mostly across the top section where a cat would stretch) The chassis is complete and untested. Antique Chinese polychrome porcelain console bowl w/scalloped or notched edge I believe this is a porcelain console bowl made in the form of a Monteith-edged wine cooler. It has faux handles with a lion’s face and is decorated in polychrome enamels. It is signed with a 4-figure seal and it has a nice ring when you thump it. I do not know its age but I am guessing late 1800’s– early 1900’s. It measures about 6-1/2” long. 5-1/2” wide, and 3-1/2” tall. The outside and inside are decorated with clusters of fruit. The jardinière is round and rests on four gold feet. It was decorated on all sides with gorgeous floral patterns. The floral designs were“framed” with ribbons of off white“beading” bordered with gold rope designs. The top and base were coloured a mottled ochre colour. The piece is approximately 5 ¼ inches high and 8 ¼ inches in diameter. It has the back stamp as shown. The piece is in vintage condition with NO chips or cracks. It has great details The top is made from a 4 way book-matched(4 pieces of veneer book-matched together)walnut burl veneer.I meticulously hand rubbed 10 coats of varnish to achieve the incredible luster and depth which showcases the walnut wood.there are small natural cracks& a few tiny dings in the center of the top burled area.all character is consistent with its age. That is what makes it a beautiful antique The medallions on the ends. Sides& legs are made from Bakelite(original resin) or Bakelite type material. The console bowl has a gorgeous moulded body with scrolls, feathers, and a weave-like design. It was coloured a soft peach ochre. Both the back and front of the bowl were decorated with beautiful floral arrangements that were hand enamelled. Smaller arrangements can be found under the two heavily gilded handles. The interior of the bowl was also decorated with a large floral design. Again it was hand enamelled with touches of white. The top of the bowl. This is a classic RCA Victor VTF76W console stereo AM/FM Phonograph. The beautiful wooden cabinet is in excellent condition. The electronics are also in working condition. Everything lights up. This is a very nice old pine table made in France. There are two leafs that come up to make a larger table. This would be fine as a kitchen table or a console table. The legs are painted in a light blue and the top is a natural pine with a wax finish. The condition is Ok but as you can see it has been well used. Antique Atwater Kent vintage tube radio in wood console restored and working
Up for auction is a 1929 Atwater Kent antique tube radio model 55 in a medium dark high boy console with doors. Brass hardware, decorative wood inlays and hand carvings. This is a 7 tube AM radio with three rotary controls for volume. Tuning and sensitivity. On/Off is a toggle type switch. Radio was recapped. Tubes tested and replaced as needed. New dial light. Cloth power cord and external antenna were installed. Chassis was cleaned and controls lubricated. AM reception is good and clear. Cabinet was cleaned and hand rubbed with Finish Restorer. There are some minor blemishes and finish imperfections. Original grill cloth is clean and intact. All original bakelite knobs are present and operate properly. Beautiful table by Merklen. One of the most unique tables by Merklen I have ever seen. The massive(wooden) ball-in-brass) claw feet are the largest I have ever seen. Gothic styling with a fabulous beaded edge. One small section of the beading has come loose but is not splintered nor broken and I have only ever placed it with pressure to keep it where it belongs. You may wish to glue it. Or leave as is- it in no way detracts or distracts. I have been told by a knowledgeable individual with a lot of experience with this form and maker that this table is probably made from Mahogany. Up for auction starting at $99.99 is a 1941 Philco model 41-280 Antique Wood Console Floor Radio which is not in working condition. I did not test it but I assume this by looking at the f ace plate and press buttons which have some heat damage from being stored in the attic for years. These can be replaced fairly easily. Radio Daze and many other places still have the parts. Solid lacquered wood construction all original. Marbled brown bakelite knobs. Wards Airline 62-751 Antique Console Radio Deco Wood Cabinet Green Eye Tube P+R A Classic Tube Radio for your Collection! Here we offer a classic vacuum tube radio. This is the Model 62-751 made by Wards/Airline! It has tubes and a poor condition power cord. We plugged it in and the dial backlight came on and the eye tube glowed green but the cord is severely cracked and frayed and shorted out. It does not power on now. It was noted that this is a unique set in that it is covertable from AC to 6 volt DC but note that the vibrator is missing so it will not run on DC either. This set is offered as~is. For parts or repair. There are many sources on the internet that offer parts and repair services so you can give this old timer a voice again. The cabinet is in good condition and features deco style fancy trim molding. Rounded corners and fancy ... moregrain veneer on the front. Has minor scrapes and surface wear{more so on the top} but the cloth speaker cover is intact as is the verticle decorative center column. This has a large slide rule dial with the eye tube in the center. The pointer moves when the tuning knob is rotated too. There is a hole in the plywood floor deck under the speaker but the paper ID label on the side is in place. Neat and attractive console radio here that measures 22 wide x 38 tall x 11 deep. Unsigned but we believe it to be Moser as the workmanship is primo. We found a piece in a different form but with nearly identical wheel cut design and same red and yellow cut to clear. Excellent condition with light scratches and wear, a few nearly microscopic, pinpoint flakes on some cut edges, a small mfg. flaw glass fold where base meets body and some light interior stain. Time to sell my beautiful FADA Luxus Flash-O-Graph highboy" konsole"model RC79 11 tube radio made in 1932. The six leg wood cabinet is in excellent condition and even has the original FADA knobs. This is about as nice a condition as your gonna find one of these rare older radios. It is electronically complete with all tubes intact. Most of the electronics look original with the exception of necessary repairs done over the years to keep it sounding great. At this point when I plug it in and turn it on the tubes light up and everything seems fine. When you turn the dial you get static and flickers of reception but I can't seem to bring in a station. So I have no idea whats going on but. Obviously needs some repair. Also the back cover is missing but, looks easily replaceable. Circa 1960 Yew wood Locking doors with one key Repaired foot Darker circles to top Light surface scratches and dings Sturdy. Good overall condition, Yew wood is an indigenous wood to England. Where this buffet or console was made making full use of the beautiful grain and color that yew wood has. This antique style console is the perfect size for a variety of uses including as a dining room piece or to go under a TV and house TV peripherals. With three drawers and three locking cabinets, there is plenty of storage space in this yew ... morewood buffet. Each cabinet door houses one shelf that has three different height adjustments. The piece sits up on bracket feet, which makes it appear less blocky and more airy. We figure it was made around 1960 or so. You will notice from the pictures that there are two circles of darker color on the top. This is probably where two lamps or large hurricanes sat and kept the light from hitting the top of the sideboard in those areas. This meant that the wood underneath did not patinate like the rest of the wood. The front left bracket foot has been broken and repaired. The repair is strong but visible. There are also very light surface scratches to the top. They are hard to see unless you have the right kind of light which is why we took a picture of the top with a glare on it to highlight those marks. There are a few dings around the mouldings as well. But overall this is a very sturdy and good condition piece of yew wood furniture that will serve any home or office well for years to come! Carved from gypsum ... moreand water gilded. W e bought this exceptional piece in Lyon. France in 1988 and imported it back. Its over 200 years old and from the Louis XV Rococo period, late 18th century(1790) Sculpted from gypsum and painted with gold leaf, and gilded accents. The original marble top is still intact and is in pristine excellent condition. The tops shaped and has ogee edges. Incurving legs. Foliate, and shell carvings. It shows curved lined and sinuous movement with great wood carving of stylized dore foliages. Rinceaux and coquilles. The profile of the table are bold and dramatic while still having fine small details giving the console a play or light and a sense of moment across the surface. All of the paint and gilt work is original. This piece has not been refurbished. You could take it to someone to be properly cleaned and spruced up. Condition; Used and in rather good condition however. Since its over 200 years old, it needs some restoration and repairs. There are two significant chips, one on each leg, and a smaller on at the base of one foot. A quality restoration company can repair it. Up for auction most likely for one week only is this nice original condition antique 1930's-40's Art Deco floor model or console radio by Admiral. This is a great unit for restoration. Parts or to make a fun modern stereo out of. This unit appears complete and not messed with. I have not plugged it in and expect it needs something but has a great look and lots of possibilities. Great Bakelite front with no cracks. Fun pull out phonograph that looks about as basic as it come. Takes a phonograph metal needle. I have talked to people who are turning these into Ipod players.
