Early Cigar Box Fiddle Appalachian TN Carving Folk Art 1800's-1900's Antique
Early Turn of the Century Cigar Box Fiddle Fantastic Antique Appalachia Tennessee Folk Instrument Great for YOUR Collection and Display. Up for offer is a fantastic Antique Early Appalachian Cigar Box Fiddle. This great old fiddle will be great for your collection. It looks to be from the late 1800's or early 1900's. although I am not an expert. I obtained this from a collector who brought it back from Tennessee many years ago. This is one of the most unique early fiddles I have seen. These early handmade folk instruments are a true treasure and are getting extremely hard to find. Overall this fiddle is very good shape for it's age. It measures approx. 21 1/2" in length overall. Body measures approx. 9 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 2 3/4" It shows wear including scratches. Marring. chips, discoloration and several cracks ... morein the neck area as shown in photos. Overall it looks to be solid. It looks to have a black painted finish. Tuners are very unique and appear to have been re-purposed from another instrument. The head stock has a nice shape. Neck is overall good as shown with a chipping area(see pics) and several cracks in the lower heel area that don't appear to affect is as it feels solid. Body is unique and has some very nice crude carving that may or may not be completely visible in the photos. F holes are nice as shown. There is a hand carved 192 on back of heel. No other markings are visible that I can see. Body is solid and has a internal period brace under where the bridge would be. Seams on body look good and appear to be solid. Tailpiece is as shown and looks to be wood. Tail Gut is as shown and is broken but looks very old and was left as-is. Strings are as shown and look to be plain wire. No case. This auction is for a rare oblong or lobed flint lacy bowl made by the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company in the first half of the nineteenth century. Some authors. Including the Sandwich Glass Museums own 1969 publication list this as one of Sandwich's finest designs. Listed as rare in McKearins reference American Glass plate 133 text page 342. 8" x 5 3/4" Condition is as seen in the photographs. Please study the photographs carefully before bidding.

Large Antique North Carolina Hand Thrown Marked Jug Container
Original hand thrown North Carolina jug with handle. The jug measures about 11" tall. The bottom is 6 3/4" The jug has various depth cut rings around the jug. There is what appears to be a"X" marked on the jug with a line next to the X. This may indicate the number 11 for the height. The jug was purchased from the Penland family in North West North Carolina. The jug is in very good antique condition, no cracks or chips. The glaze is heavy from the top to about half way down. Here is a very rare antique Flexible Flyer Baby Sleigh& Wagon Combination. It is in very good shape. You can step on the pedal at the back to activate the dropping of a pair of wheels in case the snow is gone and keep on going. The decal on the top of the sleigh is still visible as you can see in the pictures. It makes a great centerpiece under the tree with gifts on it or as a display item because it is so rare. Not many people have seen a sleigh that transforms into a wagon. It also has a handle attached to it for convenient pulling. It measures about 48 inches in length from the front to the back of the handle. The sleigh itself measures about 28 inches long X 13 inches wide. Blue Ribbon Brand Stoneware Poultry Fount by Buckeye Pottery of Macomb Illinois
For your consideration is a stoneware part of a poultry fount. This poultry fount is of the Blue Ribbon Brand line that was made by Buckeye Pottery Co. of Macomb. Illinois. This company existed from 1882 to 1941. The logo on this fount leads me to believe it was manufactured after 1920. This fount originally had a wire device attached to it; a regular glass jar fit into the wire device; the jar held whatever the poultry was drinking. The last picture is of a like fount with the wire device, so prospective customer can see what is missing. The poultry then consumed the liquid out of the stoneware part. On this poultry fount, the top has an outside diameter of almost 5 3/8" and is slightly more than 1 1/8" tall. The logo and the writing are distinct. On the outside edge are several chips. Frankly. They don't come in better condition or more complete than this one. not only does she retain her original paint, but she also has the original brass tray and brass scoop. And she's marked as being made by the American Cutlery Co. of Chicago. As for dimensions, with the tray in place she's 9 1/4" high, 21" long, 7" wide. Offered here without reserve is that wonderful and 100% honest handled bentwood carrier. First. Let me state un-categorically that the paint is 100% right and original to the piece. As for dimensions, she's 11 3/4" in diameter, 7" high. Now let me discuss pictures 4, 5 and 6. Clearly, she's a bit chewed up at the lap joint. BUT, notice the repairs- hand forged staples and nails. So the repairs or reinforcements you're seeing here themselves date to the early part of the 19th century! And those repairs are the ONLY"apology" that can be applied to this piece. She's a classic! Attended an Estate Auction and acquired a number of items that I will be listing. This is: A model of a horse made from leather. At least on the outside. It is rearing up and is about 16" tall, the decorative strap that runs under the tail is broken and the saddle has a little residue from where there was a piece of tape or sticker. There is a strap of leather that runs from the top of the saddle to the stirrup, it is missing on one side. Besides the slight flaws in the saddle the horse looks to be in excellent condition. With wear and loss to the hide, also the hinges stressed, although the lock components remain present, as shown. Wood slightly warped from age. The paper lining, although chipped and well worn, contains characteristic pre 1800s Fs for the Ss in the text, thus allowing for the possibility that this was in fact a 1700s chest. Very old bamboo fishing net with brass on handle and were the blue paint is too. The net has some damage were the mice got to it.The netting looks like its made of the material you see on fishing drop line but a lot thiner. The netting is heathy could be repaired.The hoop is 14 1/2 wide and the handle counting hoop from end to end is 62 inches there is no cracks in the bamboo.The hoop is steel.This wood look awesome on the wall for decoration. There maybe a makers name on the brass I don't know and I am not going to clean or touch the patina to find out.Handle is 1 inch bamboo is 1 inch thick at the bottom not counting brass cap.

WAS THICK WITH NOT GREEN COPPER AS ONE EXPECTS WHEN COPPER WHEN IS EXPOSED TO THE AIR, BUT COATED INA HEAVY GRAY SCALE LIKE IT HAD BEEN UNDERWATER. I worked very hard to get it to this point, but I give up. The copper is very bright pink and the handle, rivets,and chain are a bright brass. There looks to be a brass solder over the seams which are All cramped dovetail joints. The earliest kind in metalwork. It looks similar to early Turkish, Ottoman Empire pieces. But I'm not sure because off the scallop detail n the flat surfaces which is pretty decorative for such a early item. It has a rounded bottom like a Turkish ewer which was used in the fire to make coffee, but in my imagination I see it as a vessel for fresh water for a pirate's travel. Found in the ocean by a scuba ... morediver. I don't REALLY know it's story, but I am mesmerized by it and the history that is behind it, AND, it still can hold a liquid without a leak! I have taken pictures of places on it where I think the clues to its story may reside, but sadly I can't figure a damn thing from anything there? It has a few dents and the lid doesn't fit well anymore, but it is a conversation piece. Size about 12 inches high base is 8 inches round by six inches, neck is 2 1/2 inches round.
