Nice. Unusual Antique Cobblers Leather Working Hammer used for shoe repair or saddle making. It has wood inset panels on both sides of the handle. The ... morehead is 4" across and the overall length is 11" I cannot see any manufacturers marks or numbers. It is in very good condition overall and could still be used. The condition shows wear and tear due to age and use with some rust. Pitting, scratches and small flaws. This hammer is very old and original and has not been painted, repaired, refurbished, or reconditioned in any way. This is an antique and is an as-is, no guarantee item. Please examine all pictures carefully for closer inspection.

AMAZING EARLY AND RARE 1800's/ 19C. LARGE ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE WOODEN STAVED BUTTER CHURN WITH ORIGINAL BLUE PAINT Up for sale is this absolutely amazing ... morelarge blue butter churn! This is a rare find! It's a wonderful. Old, antique primitive hand-made wooden butter churn from the mid-1800's and was patented in 1859. We even show the patent off of the USPTO.GOV website from 11/15/1859. It is stenciled on the front and shows: T.A. JEBB'S CHLOGRAPH( CHURN PATENTED NOV. 15. 1859 MANUFACTURED BY J. Diller Buffalo. N.Y. It's a very nice staved churn with a wooden handle and a geared element to turn the dashers. Unfortunately. The axle that goes vertically in to the churn and the dashers were not with this churn when we found it. But, it does have what appears to be it's original blue paint and a fabulous patina! The bands are black and rusty as you'd expect from and item of this age and the interior is in great shape. You can see how the inside is"shaped" to create a better churning effect which is part of why this churn was patented! It's the original blue paint as you can see in the pictures because the stenciling about the patent is over the blue paint! WOW! Can you believe it! This old churn looks great! This is a large churn. One of the largest we've seen, and measures 20" tall(to the top of the wood lid) and another 7" tall with the black gear x 17" in diameter at the top lid and 16" in diameter at the bottom. It's another 6.75" wide with the handle. It weighs in at 28 lbs. The staves are a little loose but not coming apart. This churn does have a couple of small issues- the bottom has a couple of cracks as you can see in the pictures. There are very few worm holes in this churn as you can see in the pictures. This is normal and there isn't evidence that they are active. I have owned this piece for three years and have not seen anything abnormal. It has old world charm including many evidences of being put together from pieces of staved wo

Vintage Ice Fishing Decoy Estate find. This is a nice little wood and metal fish decoy. It has a hand carved wood body and metal fins, nice folk art paint decoration. Little glass or plastic eyes. I do not see a weight in the bottom. Makes a great primitive/folk art collectible. Decoy measures 6.5" long. Vintage Painted Fish Decoy Thanks for looking. Please email with any questions. The items that I sell are primitives/antiques/vintage items that I find and would buy for myself. I try to describe each item as well as I can but I am not an expert. I sell on ebay for fun and enjoy the people I meet here. I do not leave negative feedback and hope that if you are not happy with an item that we can work out any problems. It's not life and death- This should be fun.
Under my Sellers Notes below. In my opinion, here is one of the key lines: The key word in folk art is‘art’ Which means, even if quite simple or primitive, a hand crafted object must hold visual aesthetic appeal and stand on its own merits. It should talk to you and get your attention. To me. This very simple primitive spinnered folk art mouse has it all, including a"suggestion" of the critter, simple, child-like paint finish and very interesting and original details. I rate this lure highly as a primitive folk art lure. Description- 3" painted and vernished cording wrapped around a weighted wood body ca. 1920s- 1930s. Wire leader with hand cut copper spinner and teeny tiny glass bead spinner bearings. Embedded single hook.all topped off by a leather strip"leg" probably had two originally but only one remains. Love ... morethe cord body, teeny eyes and huge spinner. Quite Pure in form yet highly functional- no doubt it would attract fish. This lure which I've always loved I purchased at an NFLCC Nationals meet maybe 8-10 years ago in person from folk art collector and friend David Lindsay- I ended up getting it for $50, which at the time and still today I consider a steal. A very good piece of simple. Fisherman conceived and made tackle history and folk art from a LONG time ago. NOte: The leather is attached fine but I CANNOT GUARANTEE IT WILL ARRIVE THAT WAY. It is old. Dry and fragile- the good news is if it by accident should become disattached, on such an object you can glue it back. I will pack and ship it as carefully as I can but please make a note of this comment. This exact lure is shown on page 35 in the Primitives Section of the book. If you collect primitive folk art or crawdad lures. You'll definitely want to add this piece to your collection. Also be sure to check out my other neat folk art listings this week with more cool ones coming in the next weeks. This exact lure was published in the book Vintage Folk Art Fishing Lures and Tackle. Please scroll to the bottom of the pictures and read the terms under our last picture. We believe this is a cage for a canary used in the mining trade. Judging by the nails used in its construction. We believe it dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's. Looks to be made from pine wood with little steel bars in the front. It has a lid on the top that stays closed by means of a small piece of steel that is bent 90 degrees and simply turns to hold the door closed. It has been finished but long ago. Feels very waxy. Here is an interesting fishing pole wall-mounted rack made of pine. Home made. Hand made. Colonial style. I'd say it was made in the mid-twentieth century. Maybe 1940s-1960s. This is 2 feet wide by 2 and one-half feet tall and the wood on the sides is 1 and 3/8 inch thick. It has a locking drawer and a primitive way of locking the poles in. A rod is locked in place when the drawer is closed. A small dowl is missing from the locking device. This can be replaced. It doesn't show so it won't detract from the looks if you don't replace it. The key is included. Nice little dovetails. I haven't seen one of these before. It may be one of a kind. Vintage wear. I've shown a place where someone scratched on the wood. It looks like a kid did it. It looks worse in the photo than it does in person. This is a nice primitive if you ... morecollect fishing gear or you have a lakeside cabin that needs folksy details. Genuine old. Not a reproduction. There's a good chance your neighbor doesn't have one of these so get it now and be the envy of primitive collectors. Feel free to email with questions. Thanks for looking.

There is some wear to the piece as would be normal for a piece of this age. Which is from the 19th century. The paint color is still very bright and beautiful. The drawers slide in and out quite well. It appears to originally have had two glove boxes on the top but they are no longer there. We have done no restoration to this piece other than cleaning. It is beautiful just the way it is. Large blanket wrapped ship items may take several weeks to schedule and reach their destination. Please contact me if you need assistance with a shipping quote. You are bidding on a Group of TWO(2) Original and Old YORUBA PEOPLE Primitive Carved Wood Statues of Female Figures. From Nigeria. The arts of the Yoruba are as numerous as their deities. And many objects are placed on shrines to honor the gods and the ancestors. Beautiful sculpture abounds in wood and brass and the occasional terracotta. Varied masking traditions have resulted in a great diversity of mask forms. Additional important arts include pottery, weaving, beadworking and metalsmithing. The Yoruba claim that they have 401 deities; in truth. There are more than these. The complexity of their cosmology has led Western scholars to compare them to the Ancient Greeks and their impressive pantheon. Yoruba deities are known as orisha, and the high god is Olorun. No organized priesthoods or shrines exist in honor of Olorun, but his spirit ... moreis invoked to ask for blessings and to confer thanks. The Yoruba believe that when they die they enter the realm of the ancestors where they still have influence on earth. Annual homage is paid to the grave sites of ones' forbears, and lineage heads are responsible for honoring all deceased members of the lineage through a yearly sacrifice. Maskers(egungun) appear at funerals and are believed to embody the spirit of the deceased person. Other important orishas include Eshu, the trickster; Shango, the god of thunder; and Ogun, the god of iron and modern technology. The Yoruba people reside mainly in Nigeria but are spread across to Benin. Lush forest and Savannah areas surround them. Their origins can be researched back to the end of the first millennium. Yoruba communal functioning is structured around their religious concepts and their related ritualistic societies. Yoruba spiritual devotion is so complete and powerful. That all of their important artworks are dedicated to religious ceremony in one way or another. There are three main Yoruba societies or"egbe" one being the Gelede society. This sect is devoted to Yemoja, the mother of all orisha(angelic forces) Sh

From our American Primitives collection of 40 years. A stunning example of a very early apple peeling tool/device. We travelled many time to New England, and enjoyed Shaker country. We do NOT claim this to be Shaker. It was found in New Hampshire long ago. It appears to have been used in an upright position, no doubt as part of a bench type device. Please note the lighter band of wood at the base, and the hole position, which may have had a wooden dowel insert to bench. We think it is of walnut wood. The wheel is amazing, with many score marks, and a tiny nail of some sort added once near the hole. The braces are hand forged, and there are wooden pegs, later added to with forged nails. It is missing the"fork tool" which held the apple. It has no sign of having any other missing parts, and we feel it was a very early peeler, which ... moreturned the apple, while a hand peeler was held to the apple. Lovely warm patina and great chamfering. This displays well either counter-top or hanging-thanks to that bottom hole! It made a great towel-hat-apron rack in my country kitchen! Ship to zip your choice. Figure wt of 10 lbs. 1 oz. dimensions, 25 x15x 14 inches.
Up for auction is an antique. Primitive, wood splint farm basket. Excluding the handle, the basket measures 6 inches high, 13 1/2 inches wide, and 9 inches long. It has two old layers of green paint. You can see this best in photo#5. All of the photo's show some paint loss. If you look closely at photo's#6-10, you'll see that there's wire that's wrapped around the handle and through the center of the basket. I'm guessing that this was done for reinforcement. Photo's#3, 4, and 6-10 show some breaks in the basket. Otherwise, in great condition. Displays beautifully. If you have any questions. Please email me and I will try to get back to you the same day. I combine shipping and ship worldwide.

In case you are thinking about making an offer on this piece please consider this: Like in most antique stores I can sometimes go to about 10% in giving discounts on items that linger longer on Ebay. My position as dealer is very compatible I have to keep my prices low as possible. There is not that much room for negotiation. I list hundreds of items every month. Most of them sell pretty quick usually within a 3 month period. But. I don't know if it will sell. I often have the“make offer” button placed in the listings. So I do not have to go back every time a listing lingers longer on eBay than usual. It simply is too much work to have to reverse those items. If I can't honor your offer. Please think about this and don't be offended. Just try again, keeping this in mind. Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Thank you for shopping with us and please take a minu

One of the reasons for this is the excellent quality of the wood used during this era of unlimited. Untamed forests. Woods commonly in use included maple, cherry, walnut and oak. Genuine early American antique furniture is much sought after. The quality of the wood and the quality of the craftsmanship make it superior in many ways to European antiques of the same era. However. Demand exceeds supply, and American colonial antique furniture is expensive and often hard to find. Many home makers content themselves with finding one or two valuable pieces, and supplementing them with good reproductions. Reproduction furniture is made, often by hand, in the same style and uses the same woods as the genuine antiques, thereby blending in well and creating an attractive decor effect in which history and comfort both have their part. Get this CD packed with Colonial furniture patterns and you can create your very own reproductions of these antiques treasures! User friendly PDF file format.
