EDME SAMSON WAS ONE OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST CERAMIC MAKERS IN THE 19TH AND EARLY 20TH CENTURY. FROM HIS FACTORY IN PARIS HE TURNED OUT COUNTLESS GOOD ... moreQUALITY IMIATIONS OF OLDER PIECES SUCH AS CHINESE EXPORT. MEISSEN ETC. THIS PIECE HAS THE STANDARD SAMSON CYPER ON THE BOTTOM IMITATING CHINESE CHARACTERS AND THE PIECE ITSELF IS SUPPOSED TO IMITATE AN 18TH CENTURY CHINESE EXPORT PORCELAIN TEA CADDY. ON THE FRONT IS THE ENGLISH ROYAL COAT OF ARMS ALONG WITH THEIR MOTTO DIEU ET DROIT WHICH ROUGHLY TRANSLATES TO"GOD AND MY RIGHT" TO RULE) THE PIECE IS HEAVILY DECORATED WITH ROSE FAMILLE FLOWERS DONE IN ENAMELS. THIS ITEM IS 5.5" TALL AND THE BASE IS 3.5" WIDE. THIS TEA CADDY IS SOMEWHAT UNUSUAL IN THAT IT HAS ITS ORIGINAL TOP WHICH IS MANY TIMES MISSING. OVER ALL CONDITION IS GOOD, THE TEA CADDY ITSELF HAS NO CHIPS OR CRACKS OR DAMAGE, THE COVER HOWEVER WAS BROKEN AT ONE TIME AND HAS BEEN REPAIRED, THE REPAIRED CRACK CAN BE SEEN. ALL IN ALL IT IS A VERY DECORATIVE ITEM. IN MY OPINION THIS PIECE DATES FROM A CIRCA 1875 TIME FRAME.

ANTIQUE EARLY 19TH CENTURY LACQUERED PAPIER MACHE TEA CADDY ~ GORGEOUS AND RARE ROUND SHAPE ~ BEAUTIFULLY RENDERED DESIGNS IN GOLD. COPPER, RED, ETC. ... more~ Beautiful. Whimsical chinoiserie gilded tea caddy from the Regency period, circa 1800- 1825 ~ ~ Top and sides of tea caddy feature Chinese children playing. Chinese people playing chess and playing outdoors, and Chinese warriors with spears. ~ Tea caddy measures 5 3/4 inches by 5 1/2 inches This lovely tea caddy. Dating from the early 1800s, is the perfect antique chinois erie touch for any room! It is a black glossy lacquered item made of a type of papier mach e popular durin g the Regency P eriod. The desi gns feature Chinese people. Including children, dressed in nineteenth-century garb and engaging in various pastimes such as fishing, chess, games, etc. The tea caddy is hinged and opens up. This caddy is most likely NOT of Ch inese origin-as with most antique chinoiserie type p ieces. It was likely made in Europe and imported int o the United States. Fanciful Chines e-like pieces were all the rage in Europe during the Regency P eriod. CONDITION: The designs are in excellent condition and most are still very bright and beautiful. The top of the caddy has more wear than the sides and is not quite as bright or shiny. As all p ieces of this t ype. This tea caddy does have the natural patina that comes with old age. The hinges are in exc ellent condit ion a nd th e workmanship is very nice. The inside of the caddy has an old"antique" smell. I can't explain it. Bu t to an antique lover. It really is wonderful! It is truly an exquisite piece. Thank you for looking! I AM HAPPY TO SHIP INTERNATIONALLY TO ALL COUNTRIES WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CHINA. DUE TO A HIGH LOSS VOLUME FOR THAT COUNTRY. ANTIQUE GEORGIAN TEA CADDY- FOR RESTORATION Measurements: 10 inches(26 cm) across x 6 inches(16 cm) wide x 7 1/2 inches(20 cm) high SOLD AS SEEN This ... moreis I think a Georgian tea caddy with later additions. The inside has three replacement wooden divisions and some rather curious boxes. There is a spoon compartment covered in green baize at the back. There is no lock. And I thinK the base/feet are probably replacement as well. The rest of the caddy is in good condition- a restoration project for someone. Because of all the boxes etc. it is quite heavy to post. Please email me if you have any questions and please take a look at my other items.

A very nice e-bayer gave me information on this item as I knew nothing about it. I am relisting it with his information added to my original. He says the Signature is Kanji and he can read Dai Nippon or Great Japan. and is well signed. He also wrote that it was made about 1870-1890 and is Japanese Kutani Porcelain and is a tea caddy or jar. I bought this piece from a 85 year old lady. She did not remember anything about this item as to where she had aquired it. There is a mark on the bottom. The jar itself is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and very fine crazing you can see on the bottom and about an inch up from the bottom. The rest of the jar looks to be craze free. The bottom and inside the lid and dish are shiny but the paint doesn't seem to be glazed over. This jar is very busy and different each way you look. It is ... morein shades of rust and cream with fine gold trim. It is full of rose petals that i left alone. The small lid is fine but the larger lid was broken and repaired. THe jar measures about 5 1/2 inches tall and about 4 inches across. If anyone out there in the e-bay communittee knows anything about this item and is willing to share that would be wonderful. Shipping is the least possible and we combine for multiple wins. Thank You. Allspice

This is a tea caddy is American and made around 1800 possibly earlier. The small square design has always been a notation of an 1800 box but with the veneer it is American;at first look this appears to be a Satinwood veneer but it is not it is a flame birch which is a native New Hampshie/Maine wood. The top shell paterae has a simplistic design which is more typical of an American wood worker than an English counter type.It is in great shape and has original bone escutcheon, lid has bone knob,a superb box very buyable, and i hope these photos do it justice because it is gorgeous, 4 1/4"tall 4 3/4" wide 3 3/4" deep.Very buyable.

A very pretty Asian Tea caddy. The Tea Caddy is made from a Pewter colored metal and is decorated with a lovely floral motif. It has a lid and an inner sealed compartment. Both lids fit exceptionally well which is a statement to it's workmanship. The Tea Caddy is signed on the bottom, see closeup photo. Overall dimensions are 3 1/4" x 2 5/8" in diameter. The tea Caddy is in very good overall condition with no damage. I do not know very much about Asian antiques so I am not sure of the age or origin. The Tea caddy would make a lovely addition to an Asian metalwork collection. We make every effort to describe our antiques to the best of our ability. Including age, quality and condition. Here is a very unusual and quite beautiful tea caddy by Webster Mfg. Company. This piece measures 4" high to the top of the finial. And 4" long x 3" deep. The lid fits tight, and there is no damage evident. This beautiful and nicely executed repousse silver on copper tea caddy with different Victorian scenes are on each side. This piece in excellent antique condition. Please see pictures. Repousse is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. There are few techniques that offer such diversity of expression while still being relatively economical. Chasing is the opposite technique to repoussé. And the two are used in conjunction to create a finished piece. It is also known as embossing. While repoussé is used to work ... moreon the reverse of the metal to form a raised design on the front, chasing is used to refine the design on the front of the work by sinking the metal. Webster Mfg Co was formed in Brooklyn New York in 1859. They have had three names: Webster Mfg. Co. 1859– 1873 ~E.G. Webster& Bros. 1873– 1886 ~E.G. Webster& Son 1886– 1928 in 1928 the son( Fred H. ANTIQUE GEORGIAN TEA CADDY- FOR RESTORATION Measurements: 10 inches(26 cm) across x 6 inches(16 cm) wide x 7 1/2 inches(20 cm) high SOLD AS SEEN This is I think a Georgian tea caddy with later additions.

Beautiful antique burl mahogany tea caddy. As you can see in the pictures(it's better in person) the wood just shines. With a deep glow that only comes from age and beautiful wood being used. The caddy has four cabriole legs that splay out. With three interior compartments- each lined with an aluminum foil. The lids have long since been lost many years ago. This piece could be used as a jewelry box or even on the front entry piece as a catch all for keys. I put a very low reserve price on this piece.
