SUPER RARE primitive folk art 2 sided face, hand painted carved peach pit
I bought this around 30 years ago at an estate sale in DC- I wish i could tell you more about it other than the estate had loads of weird primitive art and furniture that i still hold onto dearly- but i'm letting this peach pit go. I have never seen any carved peach pit like it. The detail is incredible. great patina. It's very much like the primitive hand painted face jugs from Georgia- it's just a smidge over 1" tall. I would love to see someone frame it properly and display it like it should be displayed. My guess is it's turn of the century. again. Just don't know the history. Thanks for looking!

This Santa is holding a vintage chenille candy cane. A fabric wrapped gift, pine cones and a bundle of cinnamon sticks. He has a vintage banner that reads"Merry Christmas" His outfit is made from tea stained red flannel with rusty bells running down the length of his coat. He's just full of goodies! He is also carrying a rusty star on one side and a grapevine wreath and an evergreen sprig on the other. Lots of primitive antiques, farm finds, folk art, and the usual wacky Maureen stuff- you don’t want to miss this week! O.K. I know I'm probably not getting a lot of"awwwwwws" from you tool box guys, but I bet I have a few from my primitive girls- this one is sooo sweet. It's a vintage tool box that I was told was made by a son for his father. The handle has the impression of the former owner's initials, EE. R. and then on the bottom, hand written in marker is, Eddie gave this to me 9/7/79. There you go.awwwwwww! The wonderful rustic worn orange color was what caught my eye originally- then it was the structure and design of the box- it's ... morein excellent solid and sturdy condition, and quite hefty at 4 1/2 lbs. It's made from solid wood except for the bottom, which appears to be a thick partical or man made board. LOVE the 4 compartments- this one is perfect for tools, gardening, or you could even make it a planter- it's so charming. The box measures 16" by 10 3/4, is 3 5/8" tall at the sides and 6 1/2" tall at the handle. Measuring the compartments from the inside walls, the large one is 14 1/4" by 4 1/4" by 3 1/2" deep and the two outside smaller ones are 4" by 4" by 3 1/2" deep, while the center one is 4" by 4 1/2" by 3 1/2" deep. It's barn fresh, and shows loooooooots of dirt, dust and a cobweb or 2, no, 3.maybe 4, max.really! There's rustic wear to the wood and finish- lots of spots where you can see down to the wood where the finish is worn- especially on the edges and corners, and the wood shows nicks, scratches, scrapes, dings, chips, minor cracks- just about anything you'd expect from a rustic work horse. Primitive Vintage Blacksmith Made Wood& Iron Puzzle Toy I am still listing new items from Indiana. And have a boatload of new things from the flea market too. Lots of primitive antiques, farm finds, folk art, and the usual wacky Maureen stuff- you don’t want to miss this week! I actually got the meet the man who made this one- now THAT doesn't happen very often in my treasure hunts! I know this toy has a name. I'm sure, but I don't know what it is. The style is well known(at least around here) for being on every table in a particular country style restaurant chain. It's a vintage toy/puzzle style- with a solid wood base, and hand forged iron(in the shape of old nails) pieces that stick into the holes of the base. Remember- the idea is to see how many times you can jump one nail leaving as few of the nails in the base as ... morepossible. The base on this piece measures 5 7/8" on one side, and 6" on the other two sides(it's the shape of a triangle) The nails are made individually, so they vary in height a little- all around 2 1/2" tall. It weighs a smidge over 3/4 lb. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition- the top could use a dusting, as it's quite dusty. The patina is dark and rustic- darn it, I should have had him sign it- it's like a piece of country folk art, and would look great sitting on your table when not in use. Have fun! Extremely old and extremely rare iron cooking tongs to be used in the fireplace. Back before people had stoves! Could be used to make biscuits, crackers, or cookies. I have collected tongs for 25 years and have never seen one like this before on eBay or anywhere else! Fantastic condition! 18 1/8' long. Fits tight. The rectangle top is 3 7/8" x 3 1/4" Blacksmith made. We do not have an exact date for this item.but we believe that the newest it could be would be 1850. It could possibly even be from the 1700s. Primitive Vintage Deco Era Shabby Rustic Western Americana Horse Clock Case I am still listing new items from Indiana. And have a boatload of new things from the flea market too. Lots of primitive antiques, farm finds, folk art, and the usual wacky Maureen stuff- you don’t want to miss this week! Yes. I've seen horse clocks similar to this before- but I took one look at this rustic oldee, and it was love at first sight! The clock is long gone- leaving the case, and looooots of possibilities for you! You could make it a clock again, a photo frame, a planter.you name it- the possibilities are limited to your imagination. The patina is killer- VERY reflective of the barn(sale) that I bought it out of. Don't know if it actually LIVED in the barn, but it sure looks like it! First, I want to tell you, though, that the structure of the piece ... moreis in excellent solid and sturdy condition- except for the last piece of shabby green felt that is falling off the bottom, this piece is totally sturdy and sound. It's made of two pieces- the clock case, and then the horse- both mounted onto a wood base. It's hard to tell that the base is woo right now, because it allllll has the same shabby grey(and quite dirty) patina. The clock case is a circle with a rope style border at the face, a horseshoe upside down at the front, and two small horse images by a fence at the bottom. To the right is the horse- wearing his saddle and ready ride- even his chain reins are intact. The base of the piece measures 18" by 5 3/4" the clock case is 5 3/4" wides, 3" deep and 6 1/2" tallest- the opening for the clock is 4" diameter and there's 1 5/8" of space from the one side of the clock case to the other- measuring on the inside of the walls. The horse measures 12" nose to tail, and is 10" tall at the ears. You can see peeks of the former gold colored patina that used to be on this beauty- just peeks, most of it is worn off. It is made ... morefrom solid oak that you can see tiger graining on in some spot, and the patina is dark from age- this is a very old piece. It measures 8 1/2" tall in total and is 3" wide when shut(with an inside opening of 1 7/8. When open to its fullest, it goes to 4 1/2" wide measuring on the inside walls- so it will pick up a fairly large item. It weighs a smidge over 1/4 lb. A heavy item too- as I'm demonstrating with my concrete rock that is about 3" diameter- it was holding it totally securely. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. There's minor wear to the medium dark colored finish- dark spots to the point of black about the steel hardware, and some light spots too. I'm showing you in photo 9 that the tips of the pincher do not meet up flush- they touch each other tightly when closed, but are off sideways about 1/8" It doesn't interfere with the functionality of the piece- though- it works great. recent estate find: extremely rare and scarce this is huge cast iron Davenport Ice Chipping Machine Co. crusher. made in Davenport. IA. i was told this machine bolted to the floor of a turn of the century fishing vessel to chip up ice blocks to keep their fish cold. could have had many other uses in different industries as well patented in 1902. measures 3.5' tall great decorator or designer piece. perfect for the nautical or industrial decor. VERY VERY HEAVY. probably 200 to 250 lbs or more this has been sandblasted and primed. Ready for paint. would look INCREDIBLE if painted glossy black, all writing would POP. please see pictures for condition detail.
