This heavy duty bell shaped chopper with 6 blades forming a star is a great decorative primitive or with a little bit of elbow grease you could remove the surface rust and restore it to working condition. I left is exactly as found I did not try to clean or wash it at all. The blades are straight and free of chips. It stands approximately 6" tall and 4 1/2" wide. This is a bottle my mother in law got at an Auction years ago. And she is now gone. The bottle is crimped off at the top where there is a glass marble trapped inside the crimped area. On one side of the bottle it says Robert Hawkshaw Hull and it the center of that name are large Initials embossed overlaying each other RH. On the lower back it reads Fred alexander& Co Makers Leeds. No date is seen. It stands 9 inches tall, and is 2 1/2 diameter at the bottom. It has air bubbles, etc. No cracks, chips, or broken areas, however it could be washed out better. Description This is a wonderful Victorian Rogers. Smith& Co. silver plated, footed bridal basket. It is very ornate with beading around the basket edge and a very detailed design of flowers and other patterns inside the basket. The handle is lovely with the ornate top. The mark is a circular raised maker's mark which reads, ROGERS, SMITH& CO. MERIDEN, CT/ QUADRUPLE/ 1864" The basket measures 8.75" in diameter and stands 10.5" high to the top of the handle. It has developed a fine patina over the years. There are a couple of condition issues. The rim of beading has pulled away from the basket under one handle for the length of seven beads and there is one bead missing. On the other handle three beads have become detached from the upper edge. As it stands on it's foot, there is a slight lean of the basket. Up for your consideration I have a very nice antique tin lot from the same vermont estate.There are 7 different tin pieces ranging from the 1880s-1900s.The 1st is an early hand made and soldered Hillson country store tin scoop.It has very minor surface rust with some small dings.There are some dents on the very top of the handle.The 2nd is an early 1880s tin dipper it has a bend mark at the top of the handle and some minor surface rust in the interior of the dipper.The 3rd is an old rumford egg separator it has some minor surface rust and age patina.The 4th is an old rumford biscuit cutter it has some dings and the top handle is dented. The 5th is an 1880s soldered small tin measuring cup it measures 2"inchs.it has some very minor surface rust. The 6th is an 1880s tin soildered measuring cup with a wraparound lip it measures 3" ... moreinchs.It has some minor surface rust on the interior and exterior and a few small dings. The 7th is an early tin Davis biscuit cutter. This is a type of cigar that ladies in Burma were smoking when I lived there back in the'50's. Perhaps other primitive cultures made these too. It is 11 inches long. Made of local leaves that look like corn husk, and very neatly put together. This one is from there and has been packed away since 1961, so-obviously, dried out and not for smoking. IT WAS MADE BY HER THREE GREAT GRAND MOTHER IN THE LATE 1800'S. SHE GREW THE SHEEP FOR THE WOOL-SPUN THE WOOL FOR THE TOP AND THE FILLER IS RAW SPUN WOOL. THE BACK IS BLACK AND WHITE CHECK-EITHER WOOL OR FLANNEL. IT IS TIED WITH PINK WOOL. THE BLOCKS ARE ALTERNATING RED AND GRAY WOOL. SOME OF THE GRAY BLOCKS HAVE PINK STRIPES. The eyes are off-white felt, primitively sewn on and blue vintage buttons, with black beads glued onto them. The nose is soft-sculptured and the mouth is sewn on with black embroidery thread. I used sisal twine for the whiskers. I made a dress for Miss Kitty using bright orange with black polka dots cotton fabric. I sewed rusty bells onto the arms(the arms actually can be moved) and I sewed a vintage rhinestone button onto the neckline of her dress. She is approximately 6 1/2 inches tall and 3 inches wide. THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION AND IS OVER 200+ YEARS OLD. TOBACCO CUTTERS THEMSELVES ARE A PRETTY COMMON PIECE BUT USUALLY THEY ARE CAST IRON AND WERE MASS PRODUCED. I HAVE DONE COUNTLESS HOURS OF RESEARCH AND HAVE CONTACTED TOBACCO MUSEUMS, SENT THEM PICTURES AND DESCRIPTIONS, AND HAVE NOT FOUND ANOTHER PIECE LIKE THIS! THE MASS PRODUCED CAST IRON TOBACCO CUTTERS DATE FROM THE MID 1800'S AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY EVERY EXPERT I HAVE CONTACTED THAT THIS ONE PRE-DATES ANY OTHER ONE THEY HAVE EVER SEEN. IT IS VERY POSSIBLE THAT THIS PIECE WAS MADE AS A PROTOTYPE OR THAT IT WAS THE BASIS FOR THE MASS PRODUCED CAS IRON TOBACCO CUTTERS. THIS TOBACCO CUTTER IS PRIMARILY MADE OF HAND CARVED AND CRAFTED WOOD. THERE IS NO MAKER MARK OR DATE ANYWHERE ON THE PIECE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TYPE OF WOOD IT IS MADE OF IS CHESTNUT. INFACT THE ONLY PIECES THAT ARE NOT WOOD ARE THE CUTTING TEETH. THE CUTTING BLADES, THE HINGES, THE HOOKED LATCH ON THE FRONT, AND THE BOLT AND NUT THAT HOLD THE GRIP TO THE HANDLE. MORE AMAZINGLY EVERY PIECE OF METAL THAT I JUST LISTED WAS HAND FORGED IRON NOT MADE BY A MACHINE. YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THIS FROM THE DETAILED PICTURES I HAVE INCLUDED.
