H.M.S. WARSPITE 1937- 1940 HMS Warspite was a Queen Elizabeth-class battleship of the Royal Navy. During World War II Warspite gained the nickname"The Grand Old Lady" after a comment made by Admiral Sir Andrew Cunningham in 1943. Warspite and the other vessels in her class were advocated by Admiral Sir John'Jackie' Fisher. And Winston Churchill. Then First Lord of the Admiralty. She served in both World War I and World War II. Earning the most battle honours ever awarded to an individual ship in the Royal Navy, including the most awarded for actions in the Second World War. Offered to the collector here is this lovely little commemorative wooden lifebelt from HMS Warspite. It measures a fraction under 4" in diameter& has hand-painted detail which reads: H.M.S. WARSPITE 1937- 1940 I'm pretty sure that the lifebelt ... morewas made from wood from HMS Warspite itself- although it doesn't actually state this anywhere on it. It is a very old genuine item- certainly from the era too. It was in all likelihood made by a crew member who served in her from 1937 to 1940. Lifebelt is in wonderful condition for age. Slight rubbing to the number 4 in the year 1940. But other than that. In lovely condition. A nice old nostalgic collectable. 24" Handmade Wooden Chess/Checker Board Table Inlaid 1959 w/ Metal Chess Set
Offered here is a vintage handmade 1959 chess or checker board. All wood, two kinds with very unique veneer top. The maker used an exceptionally high skill level of joinery which was needed to put this together so exactly. Also notice the darker knot area on the top surface outer pieces that is symmetrically used for all four sides. From the same piece of wood. The table top measures 24" by 24" the chess board measures almost 16" by 16" and the height is approximately 7" Tall. The drawer for the player pieces measures 12 3/4" by 7 3/4" Glued to the bottom inside drawer is the original packing slip which has the company Vincent Yeh& Co and address and describes this as a pillow table which left the factory on March 23, 1959. Gently pre-owned vintage chess set. Overall great condition for age. Worn by age. The white king has a chip on the top. See photo#8. There are various dings, stains and scratches on both sides of the wood board due to age. The board has a small hole to hang the board on the wall as a display case, see photo#7. Total weight of the board and pieces combined is 7.8 lbs. I will send UPS ground with signature required. Board is 18.5" x 18.5" x about 1.5" depth. Game pieces range from about 4 1/4" for king down to 1 3/4" for the pawns.

Offered is a Black Forest wooden works. Weight driven wall clock. The case is 16" tall and 10.5" wide. The case is ebonised black with colorful paint. Porcelain convexed dial has some chips, cracks and repairs. Porcelain columns. The case has white paint over spray on it. Mostly on the right side of the case. The right side door is missing 1/2 of its hinge. The back of the case is missing. The time and strike movement is complete, but filthy dirty. It needs a complete servicing. The pivot holes are full of old green gunk. The mechanism strikes when the hands are turned. The clock has been lightly oiled and has been running for a number of hours. I think the pendulum is correct. The wooden stick looks to be of old German construction. The front glass is wavey with bubbles. I put the 8 day cuckoo weights on the clock to test it. This auction is for a Antique Hand Carved ANRI Mechanical Wooden Bottle Stopper representing a bearded man tipping his hat. His mechanism works by pulling on a little wooden ball attached to a string on his back. In Very Good condition. The Italian Anri company made these bottle stoppers from 1912 until the mid 1960's. The earliest were hand carved by people who lived in the Groeden Mountain area and were made to resemble actual people they knew. Over time the stoppers lost their"individuality" and became more like caricatures. We have a 40 year collection of Fire-King.
