I burned wood and trash to start the fire and then added hard coal.It will take a fairly large load of coal for an overnite burn. When I first acquired it the ash drawer was missing.So I built one of steel.I also had a better round grate made for it after four years as it cracked.The new one was built thicker so it will last longer. The outer ring is cracked but it does not affect the functionality of it. You could have a new one cast at any iron foundry if you were worried about it. of coarse there will be NO SHIPPING on this as it weighs about 250 pounds. The hinge pins drop into their counterpart making this an easy mount. The door has a built in draft as well. The door measures 14 1/2" wide at the bottom by slightly over 11" tall. Antique Vintage Decorative Wood Coal Cast Iron Stove Door Part 1
This decorative cast iron stove door was found recently. It is very rusty so you can hardly see the original surface. But the wonderful embossed designs stand out dramatically, nevertheless. The door has nice mica windows. I'm not sure of the brand of stove that it was part of as there are no marks that I can see to identify it. Restoring this piece to a working stove would be great, but it could also be repurposed as interior or garden wall decor. The rusty patina is super attractive and I have left it as it was found. Measurements are about 16 1/2” overall width(including the hinge brackets) or 15 3/4" for just the door x 8" height. With a 1 5/8” depth. The framework that hold the windows in place may be missing a pc. Otherwise it looks to be in good condition. It is as seen in the photos so look closely. Cawley Lemay 500 Wood Stove
Cawley Lemay stoves in my estimation were the finest wood stoves made in the America. Bob Cawley was and industrial engineer and his wife Martha Cawley was an artist and sculptor who did the bas relief on the stoves. They are of the highest quality of construction and their high relief decorative wildlife casting are unsurpassed. Without a question they are a work of art and really are in a league of their own. The company primary focused on cook stoves(the 400 and 600 series) But they made the 500 shown here and the large 800 models as well. I believe the lowest production was the 500 series. What is unique about the 500 series is there is glass in the front doors which the other models do not have. Overall the stove measures 19" wide x 19" deep(including the ash shelf) x 27" tall. The flue size is 6" and the stove has ... morea rotating cast iron collar that will allow horizontal flue exit as well. It is either top or front loading and the firebox will accept 16"logs. If you want the best artisan stove made in the United States, this is it. I didn't have a chance to install the roping in the doors before the photos were taken, however, I will before the stove goes out the door. Riteway Mfg was a prominent Amish builder of downdraft stoves during the late 70s/ and 80s. The downdraft design claims to extract more heat from the wood than a conventional stove. And can accomodate unsplit logs up to 26" in length. The stove features an thermostatic damper to control the rate of the wood burn. Burned for years as it was however I had plate steel placed in the interior baffle and interior rear of the stove. The center stone has a small hairline crack. Typical of these stoves. From area estate sale a copper clad tea kettle. This is circa 1960 marked Taiwan. Cooper is over another metal which is normally the case. Kettle holds one quart water comfortably. It measures 8 1/2" from spout to edge of body. To top of handle is about 8" high. Base has 4 1/2" diameter. There are scratches. Wear and use marks from years of service. See pics: On the lid there is an oval pinched indent which is so perfect it has to be part of the manufacturing process but I have no idea what the dent would be for. This auction is for a used Regency medium size pedistal base wood stove. It has a removable ash drawer with carring cover. The stove can hold up and 18" log. I bought the stove new in September of 2000 for $1.400.00 and the stove was only used for 5 seasons and was taken out to go to a wood pellet boiler system. I was going to use it in my garage but never installed it. It heated our 1250 square foot house to the mid 70's and heats up to 1500 square feet using the best seasoned wood.
