Original WWII Vet Bring Back Short Samurai Sword Wakizashi Last Ditch Effort
I am not an expert on these but I believe this sword looks is a last ditch effort piece. The blade measures 14 1/2 inches to the copper piece which is soldered to the blade, the are a couple of tiny edge nicks/chips, the blade has dark stains and pitting from old surface rust but the pitting does not seem deep and should clean up some if desired. The thin tsuba was soldered to the blade but the solder joint came undone when trying to remove the handle.I tried to take the handle off to look at the tang but there must be another pin and I don't want to mess it up. The handle looks like it was wrapped in a green fabric, then a thin brown twine or heavy thread and then the white banding. The glue on the two piece scabbard has come undone and there pieces missing along the glue joint area.

Authentic Antique Japanese Samurai/Wakizashi Sword Kanesada 17th century WW2
This is an Authentic Japanese Samurai/Wakizashi sword. Which was brought back by my grandfather after the war. It has been in storage all these years and the blade is still extremely sharp. I have tried to take as many pictures as possible for potential buyers to reference and I can answer any questions honestly and to the best of my ability. The tang is signed, and there are gold flowers on the collar and end of the handle. I've been told by another helpful ebay user that the signature is Fujiwara Kanesada, and the sword most likely dates back to the 17th century. The source is quite knowledgable, but as this was not an official appraisal and I am not an expert I can only guarantee that the sword is authentic and quite old. The Tusba( is plain and appears to have some rust/ patina. The blade has two small contact marks near the top, ... moreand the tip appears to have a few as well. There are a few blemishes on the blade, but they appear to be superficial. The length of the blade without the handle is 22 inches and is pretty thick and heavy. Koto Wakizashi with Very Beautiful Activities
An authentic Koto Wakizashi with a beautiful temper line. Full of nie crystals that shimmer in the light like stars. The sword was shortened long, long ago, and the signature was lost in the process. The sword comes with a nicely patinated copper habaki, wood handle and scabbard. The wood handle and scabbard are in poor shape, but will protect the sword from the environment and vice versa. About 1mm of the very tip is broken, as shown clearly in the picture. This can be easily fixed by a qualified polisher. There is a very thin hadaware- hard to notice unless one pays attention. The nakago has three mounting holes, one of which has been plugged with copper. Personally, I love swords with lots of mounting holes in the nakago- a sign that the sword was treasured by its former owners and passed on through many generations and remounted multiple ... moretimes. The sword is full of nie particles that form swirling lines on the sword surface(chikei) and form sweeping lines in the tempered edge(kinsuji) very beautiful. Japanese sword wakizashi, o-tanto in mountings "Kanefusa", mint
This is a Japanese sword ko-wakizashi or o-tanto in full mountings. The blade is signed"Kanefusa 兼房" Hira-zukuri shape with long point. Muromachi period ca.1550 era made blade. The blade is in old full polish, no rust, no stain and in excellent condition. There is no nick, no bend and cutting edge is sharp. The temper line is wavy gunome-choji with kinsuji(crystal) active temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep turn back temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada, no opening and no forging flaws at all. The scabbard is urushi lacquered wood scabbard. No lacquer loss, no dent and in good condition. the handle is tight fit with dragon motif iron fuchi/kashira, handle wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. The tsuba is mokko shape bird with tree motif brass tsuba in good condition. Habaki is solid silver ... morehabaki in mint condition. Antique Fine Japanese Sword Samurai Wakizashi Katana in Edo Koshirae & Shirasaya
For sale is this fine authentic antique japanese sword set with koshirae and shirasaya. The 17th century Bungo school blade is in high quality minty polish with no scratches. Rust, nicks, very clean fine surface with nice color. The blade is very healthy. One small forging flaw pictured, no damage to mention at all. The itame hada is very good and clearly showing all over. The fine flamboyant beautiful hamon is clearly visible gumone modare with nice peaks and separate circles called Tama, jewel, a very nice high active hamon rarely seen. The edge is very sharp, the tip is healthy with distinctive nice strong boshi of the same active flamboyant pattern. The tang is untouched mumei with original hole. Visible file marks and nice clean patination. The blade comes with 2 NBTHK papers. The paper states it was made by Bungo Takata Yukinaga 豊後高田 行長 This smith line was famous for making very sharp. It comes with a very nice carved copper habaki with both sides different flower theme, also comes with quality old edo koshirae consisting of a nice saya with with great iron fittings, it has one minor crack on the seam but hardly noticable, a nice iron tsuba with yellow copper decoration in the same style as the saya, the tsuka has a good tight ito, mint rayskin, nice flower theme menukies, high quality deeply carved 3 dimensional flower theme fuchi and kashira Everything is sold in this auction. Wakizashi sword in shirasaya that has old polish and some corrosion along several areas of the ha. Blade is still very sharp and will slice paper easily. Sword is signed on both sides of the nakago. I am no expert on Japanese swords and have no idea what the signatures state. Possibly someone with thorough knowledge will inform me of this. There is scrollwork/signature? on both sides of the shinogi that give this sword an unusual appearance. Habaki is brass fits very well and has a diamond cut pattern. Overall very good to excellent condition. Sword length from kissaki to nakago 64.13 cm. Kissaki to ha machi 51.11 cm, 635 cm thick, Full length of the shirasaya 72.39 cm. This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in mountings. The blade is unsigned. Shinogi-zukuri shape. Muromachi period ca. 1550 era made blade. The blade is in old polish, shows light staines but no rust and in good condition. There is no bend, no nick and cutting edge is sharp. The temper line is wavy notare temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep turn back temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada, no blister. No opening and no forging flaws. The scabbard is urushi lacquered wood scabbard with mached copper fittings, no dent, no crack and in good condition. Handle is tight fit with copper fuchi/ kashira and tsukaito wrapping is no cut. No loose and in good condition. Tsuba is mokko shape copper tanto tsuba with nice patina. This beautiful Meiji period short Japanese Wakizashi is 23 1/2 inches long in Koshira. The Koshira and Tsuka are made of wood coated with enamel. There are no cracks or damage to the enamel. This item has been kept in very good condition through out the years. The Tsuba unfortunately are missing its Seppas. The blade is not signed and has seen better days. Looks like some kids got a hold of it at one time and played Pirates of the Carribean. Total length of blade is 19 inches with a 15 inch cutting edge to the Habaki. This outfit with a nicer signed blade and Seppas will be worth Thousands of $. Unfortunatley I do not have the time or the expertise to take on such a task. I will leave that up to the new owner.

By forging a special type of steel called tamahagane, into many layers. The swords edge, or ha, was then tempered, or hardened, in a variety of patterns, at the discretion of the smith. This made for extremely sharp, yet break resistant swords, that are considered functional art. Throughout history. The Samurai sword has been treated with great respect and referred to as"The Soul of the Samurai" In my opinion, any true Nihonto should be treated as a priceless artifact. This sword is a Wakizashi with a cutting edge of 43 cm. It is 2.9 cm wide at the habaki and is very healthy. It appears to be ubu. Not cut down from a longer sword. Judging by the condition of the nakago(tang) and other ... morefactors, I estimate this sword to be from the Shinto period, probably ca.1600. The hamon. Although obscured by patination, looks to be gunome-midare, or a wavy undulating pattern. Some activity in the hamon is visible and appears to be nie based, pointing us at the Bizen tradition. It comes with the original saya. Nice habaki and copper tsuba. The tsuka handle is missing, but the original same wrap is present as shown. The condition is as shown. The sword has no fatal flaws. This Nihonto is certified by The Society For Preservation of Japanese Art Swords(known as"NBTHK" http:www.touken.or.jp/english/index.html) as a special precious sword(特別貴重刀剣) And its certificate will be accompanied with the Nihonto. T he name of the swordsmith of this Nihonto is"Sukesada" 祐定) as the certificate provides. Sukesada belonged to the Osafune(長船) School. Which is one of very prestigious swordsmith schools in the Japanese sword history and produced many great swordsmithes. Sukesada's signature is engraved on the"Nakago" grip of the blade. Japanese Sword Samurai Era Wakizashi Army Officer Gunto- No Reserve Note: There are many more photos at the end of this listing than are pictured in eBay's Photo Gallery. This is a neat Samurai-era Japanese Wakizashi which was likely mounted with a leather covering over the scabbard and carried by a Japanese Army Officer during WW2. Sword with Scabbard measures 34" overall. With a Blade length of 21 5/8" Blade is a shortened Koto or early Shinto Katana. With a Samurai-era two-piece Habaki. It is healthy with no obvious forging flaws or signs of a"tired" blade. It has an irregular temper line that is clearly visible the full length of the blade, running about 3/8" high. Not as visible in the tip, but does appear to be there. There are two chips near the Kissaki. And the very tip of the blade is broken. Still, this ... moreblade should take a polish. The handle has blue-green silk Ito and thin-stamped brass Dragon Menuki. Both are typical of a wrapping job as done in the 1930's. The Fuchi/Kashira are old iron examples but both are in poor. Damaged condition. The Handle is made for this Blade and fits it perfectly. The Tsuba is pierced work with Dragons and is an original example in the Namban style. It is a lower-end cast Tsuba. But of the period. There are no Seppa present. The Saya is interesting in that you can see(in the last photo. Below) that it once had a Saya Hook below the Kurikata, which is usually only seem on high-end Samurai-era Swords. However, the mouth of the Saya is too damaged to verify that it was custom made to fit this blade. It has an older Samurai-era lacquer finish, but condition is overall chipped, damaged and Saya is split in half(if you removed the tape, you could verify if this Saya exactly matched the blade) The Saya Hook and Kurikata are gone. Likely because this Saya had a leather cover added and was carried by an Army Officer as a Gunto. There is just the blade, collar, and a plain wood handle and scabbard. Cutting edge 20" overall 34" The bumpy temper line is visible but hard to photograph, the temper is visible in the tip but is hard to show, I tried. There is one nick about 3" from the base, I showed it in the picture of the tang, blade has some scratches, scuffs, stains etc. The handle and scabbard may not be original, hard to tell, but they work to protect the blade, there is some grease or junk in the scabbard so you have to wipe the grease off the blade when it is taken out. It is very unique in size, literally cleaver like in width, it is double the width of a normal Hira-zukuri Wakizashi. The blade is signed Seki no Munetsugu which was a smith of Seki school in Mino province Japan. Historically Mino province gained a reputation for producing blades that were extremely sharp and excellent for cutting.
