Antique Japanese Sword Samurai Katana Wakizashi in Fine Rare Edo Koshirae
For sale is this truly beautiful authentic antiqueJapanese wakizashi sword. The 17th century blade is in minty sharp polish with no damage or flaw to mention. Good strong wide blade with elegant curvature and shape, good undamaged tip with nice distinctive boshi and good turning back. The grain pattern is distinctive mokume hada with masame hada on the shinogi ji, the temperline is is very pleasing flamboyant gunome-choji mixture with a lot of acivities with fine nie on nioi deki crystals, rarely seen such a nicely executed hamon as this. The blade is very well preserved quality forge for sure. Unshortened tang with original hole, visible filemarks and nice long deep signature saying: Noshu Seki Ju Fujiwara Kanemichi 濃州関住 藤原 兼道 The blade is a beautiful example of a quality Mishina school work by the Kanemichi family. The blade is housed in ... moregood old quality shirasaya bearing sayagaki written by Sato Kanzan. A famous japanese sword expert, dating the sayagaki to Showa, year or the rabbit, autumn(1985) and gives his name along with the description of the blade verifying the name of the smith, and other details. There is also a truly stunning Edo koshirae that comes with the sword. This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in project mountings. The blade is signed"Masamune 正宗" hira- zukuri shape with bohi engravings. Ca.1500 era made blade. The blade is in old polish, shows light staines on surface but no deep rust and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome with kinsuji active temper pattern throughout the blade and has turn back temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada and no forging flaw at all. The scabbard is old urushi lacquered scabbard. Shows tiny lacquer loss but no crack and in good condition. Handle shows ray-skin cover only, no fuchi/kashira. Menuki and no tuka-ito wrapping. The tsuka ito is very tight and clean. All of the fittings are secure and there's no rattle in the saya. Saya fit around the habaki is good. The blade is very sharp, however there are a couple of areas of discoloration. There is a very tiny nick in the blade edge about halfway down the blade(see pics, which probably occurred due to how sharp the sword is. This sword is very beefy and has a good weight to it makes a fantastic cutter. Wakizashi: Length(sheathed) 22.5" Tsuka- 5.25" Blade length- 16" Blade width- 1.25" Blade thickness- 25" The wakizashi is also in very good shape. The tsuka ito is tight and clean. ... moreThe fittings are secure. However the tsuba seems a little loose(doesn't move much on its own, but rattles when the blade is handled. The saya fit around the habaki is good and there is no rattle in the saya. The blade is in excellent condition, no scratches or discoloration, and it is very sharp. Even though the katana and the wakizashi are a matching pair, the wak seems to be of an older generation and is slightly different than the katana. The end of the saya is rounded, where on the katana it's squared off with a black endcap. The crackle pattern on the saya also seems smaller on the wak and is bigger on the katana(see pics.

LOT Japanese authentic Katana, Wakizashi, Kokuza, Tsubas
One lot of various antique Japanese swords and decorations. I was told the Katana is a few hundred years old. Is an armor piercing blade. The two documents in the pics are the export certificate and the original craftsman document. I'm not selling this for an enormous amount of money because the blade has been modified at some point in its life. Maybe the tip was chipped or cracked. So. The tip was reground and lost it's temper. Once you lose the temper at the tip, the blade drops in value. I tried to have the craftsman document translated, but the script is so old, no one could do it. Maybe an Asian art museum would know where to look. The 14" blade or Wakizashi is signed" Shigekuni" I don't know what that means as far as value goes. The small letter opener type blade(Kozuka) with the beautiful mantis is probably ... morethe most valuable item. The blade is of type kogatana. I know nothing about the tsubas. EDIT! I completely forgot about the saya(scabbard) I have the one that came with the blade. It's 29 3/4" long. See pics. This is a Japanese Samurai Sword Shinshinto Wakizashi. Hizen School, stout blade with wide Suguha temper line. The blade is very wide and thick, powerful style, signed as Hizen Koku Tadayuki, 肥前国忠行、 a capable disciple of eighth generation of Hizen Tadayoshi. Who was a top Hizen smith in late Edo period. It is said that Tadayuki dedicated most of his time and effort in forging swords on behalf of his mentor, Tadayoshi, so not so many swords were made with his own signature. So, this is a very rare and precious blade with his own signature. The blade is very healthy. No nicks, no openings, with tight Koitame jihada. All complete and original. I think its says something- Family' at least thats what I was told but a person I showed it to. I put a little wihte flour over the signature to try and show it better-hope it helps. Grip and sheath are made of wood. Looks to be quite old. The little pin that holds the handle on is broken but I have the two pieces. Short personal weapon size. Measures 22" long total. Blade has a couple small nicks and some areas that need cleaned up but I didn't want do it and risk damage or take away from the age showing. Has copper wire around handle and copper at base of blade. Tsuba is iron or steel and has what might be gold markings. WWII Japanese ARMY Officer's Samurai Sword Antique BLADE WW2 WAKIZASHI
Estate sale: Please check pictures and ask any questions. This is a very nice Japanese Army sword. The steel blade is in good condition with no chips or cracks. A magnet sticks to the blade. It is steel. You can see the temper along both sides through the tip. Overall 31" Cutting edge is 21 7/8" There are some tiny black marks on a small part of the blade. I would say that you could buff them out. There is a leather case/sheath that fits over the sword. Near the belt ring and handle of the sword the leather is split. It appears to have water spots on the leather as well. I am not a sword expert by any means. I am not sure if this sword is authentic or not. Please look at the photos and video. I did some research and found out how to disassemble it the sword to look for markings. It appears someone who was in possession of this sword before used a metal pin to secure the handle to it and put a white paste in the hole to tighten it. I dislodged the powder and removed the pin and disassembled the handle and tsuba. The handle is made of a lighter wood. There are no markings that I can see on the end of the blade. It is rusted over time. Since removing the paste to disassemble the sword it is now loose when all of the pieces are put back together. Please watch the youtube video below to see condition. Antique Japanese Wakizashi edo period or earlier
This item ships in the US only! large photos below you may have to use the slide bar to see entire photos) this is a really nice authentic Japanese wakizashi short sword. dating somewhere in the 1600s- early 1700s. came from a collection and looks like the furniture and blade have been together a long time. the blade is unsigned. cutting edge is 18" long. total length of glade is 22.75" 1 1/8th wide near tsuba. 25"thick. overall the blade is fairly nice. no rust but does have some discoloration and as you can see some heavier scratches near tip. the nakago has a great dark painta with 2 holes. the tsuka or handle has very old wrapping with matching menuki( possibly a gourd? has a 2 pieces habaki with 2 seppa. the ray skin on the handle has cracks on one side. the fuchi is very nice with a nice gold geometric design. the tsuba ... moreis a solid steel with water pattern. it is very old. measures 2.75" diameter. has hole for a kozuka. the Saya also has place for kozuka. the saya is plain black lacquer. does have some chipped lacquer and scratches. a really cool feature is at the end of the saya. Here to offer for sale is a Japanese signed koto o-wakizashi. Abt. 55.2 cm(21.7" long cutting edge, in gorgeous fittings. The signature reads"HIRAKUNI 平国" on the ubu nakago. Polish is old but the temper lines are clearly seen. There are some small surface scratches. Mostly saya kizu, but the blade is very sharp. No crack, no chip, no bad rust. The scabbard is abt. 63.3 cm(24.9" long. Black ishime urushi lacquer paint with minimal kizu for the age, but there is no crack. It has a copper"kojiri" with gold-plated"KACHIMUSHI(dragonfly) at the end. It also has a horn"kurikata" with a couple of gold-plated"shitodome" and a"sageo. The hilt is wrapped by"samekawa" and has beautiful shakudo"fuchi/kashira" with gold-plated wild coats. The menukis are also shakudo and partially ... moregold-plated. The iron tsuba is a"sukashi. The fittings also include a gorgeous gold-foiled double habaki with detailed decorative patterns and a couple of gold-foiled seppas. Japanese Samurai sword tsuka/handle. Tanto/Wakizashi. Minogame menuki. NR
Handle(tsuka) for a tanto or small wakizashi. Shinto period. This is a legitimate Japanese Samurai sword handle. No repo. Fuchi/kashira and menuki are soft metal, shakudo or similar. Menuki are interesting. They are Minogame, the giant bushy tailed tortoise known for its mythological long life. Same(rayskin) looks specially selected for its smaller even pattern.The handle measures end to end about 6-1/8" The fuchi fits well but its design is different form the kashira. The long measurment of the opening is about 1-1/16" and is larger than the opening in the handle. The wrap(tsukaito) is tight but has shifted along the handle. Here is a very nice wakizashi saya in red ishime lacquer. The kojiri and koiguchi are solid silver with very nice high quality carving of crashing waves and are in excellent c ondition. The kurikata is of a gold plated gr a y colored metal. Similar to work s of Umetad a. With very good re l ief carving of crashing waves and appears to be much older. The lacquer has a few small dings and chips and cracking at the seam s about 7" starting at the koigu chi. The nice thing about this saya is the lack of a kozuka pocket.
